What are my pet peeves? Haha...

    enter image description here

    • It's probably a common pet peeve, but it's incredibly grating on my nerves when I hear the word "like" being said a ridiculous amount of times in one's speech. Saying "like" every other word has become so frequent in today's society that I don't think people even realize that they're saying it so much. Maybe it's a verbal tic, similar to people saying "um" while they're still thinking of what word to use, which I suppose I can understand, but I still sincerely loathe hearing it all the time.

    • Same goes for the word "literally" being used incorrectly. "Literally" means "in a literal or strict sense, as opposed to a non-literal or exaggerated sense", and is the opposite of "figuratively", which means "in a metaphorical sense". But nowadays, "literally" is used more often than not to emphasize what you're saying, e.g. "I was literally so pissed off". Which is not what the word means. At all. It certainly doesn't help that using the word "literally" incorrectly has become such a widespread phenomenon that now a new definition of the word has been added into the dictionary. Just...why? Why can't people look up the definitions of words before using them? It's really not that hard. I haven't been this irritated since I realized that the word "twerk" has actually been officially added into the dictionary.

    • I have no patience for people with victim complexes. Everybody has their share of obstacles in life that are extremely difficult for them to overcome. Saying that your problems and hardships in life are worse than another person's, and that because of that you should be given a free pass to behave like a petulant child is not only ignorant, it is also pretty pathetic. Most of the time these sorts of people aren't even attempting to make a change, even though they are vocally upset with the current state of their life. They just give up before they even try, and expect pity and extra privileges because their sadness and pain is apparently so much worse than everyone else's. Seriously, these people need to suck it up, stop invalidating other people's problems by saying that theirs are worse, and ffs, quit being such babies. Life is hard, there are going to be many ups and downs as the years go by. Yes, sometimes the downs will seem as though they outnumber the ups, but that doesn't give anyone the excuse to complain and whine constantly about how much their life sucks 24/7.

    • I have a severe pet peeve when it comes to typos and grammatical errors. In everything. Emails, essays, internet posts, text messages, letters, signs etc. And not just in other people's work (there have been so many times where I wish I was able to edit people's posts on here lol), but in my own as well. Because I type so fast, I tend to make typos and grammatical errors often. I also don't usually have the patience to read what I've typed a second time over to check for errors (most of the time because I typed way too much lol), so I don't even realize I've made an error until much later. And when I do eventually notice the error, I have to fix it, I can't seem to just leave it alone. Honestly, I am the type of person who will agonize over a small typo made in an email or text message, even though realistically I know that the person I sent it to probably won't care nor even notice that I made an error. Until I inevitably point it out, that is. I've really got to work on this particular pet peeve, tbh.

    • People with bad table manners...I really don't think this one needs much explaining. Does anyone actually want to sit with someone who talks with their mouth full, chews with their mouth open, or clinks their silverware against their teeth and plate constantly?

    • Crooked picture frames, and when those tassels on the ends of rugs aren't straight. Bugs me for some reason.

    • Slow walkers. Meaning people who walk at glacial paces, as though they're moving in slow motion. I don't expect you to speed walk, but there is a problem if I look down and notice that a bug on the sidewalk is moving faster than you.

    • People who can't park for shit. If you can't get between the lines on the first try, then keep trying until you are between the lines. Don't take up two parking spaces, lock your car and walk into the store thinking everything is just fine and dandy.

    • Woodpeckers. Probably the most annoying bird in existence (other than roosters), and of course I have three of them living in the tree outside my bedroom window. The best part is that they only seem to like pecking at night when I'm trying to sleep. ʘ‿ʘ

    • When people sneeze/cough without covering their mouth, and if they do cover their mouth, they don't wash their hands afterwards.:S

    • Sales calls. I consistently get an insane amount of sales calls early in the morning. Being woken up at 5:00 in the morning by some guy trying to sell me something is definitely not my favorite way to start the day.

    • I really don't like the sensation I get from touching cotton balls...does that count as a pet peeve? I don't think it does, but I'm adding it anyway.

    • People who use handicap parking spaces when they clearly aren't handicapped.

    • People who bring their children to movie theaters late at night, or to movies that they are way too young to be watching. It's very inconsiderate to the other people who are in the theater, and it's just really bad parenting imo. Unfortunately, this seems to happen every time I go to the movies. Sir, your son is 6 years old, he should not be at a 9:00 pm showing of The Hateful Eight.:/

    • Similar to the previous one, I hate it when parents allow their children to misbehave in public, or completely ignore that their kid is currently throwing a huge temper tantrum in public. Even more irritating is when the parents give you dirty looks, as if you're the one to blame for their kid's behavior, and not them.

    • People who don't/won't take responsibility for their actions. Pretty similar to the way I view people with victim complexes.

    • People who smoke so much that you can smell it on them from a few feet away. I really dislike the smell of cigarettes.

    • Nosy people who don't know how to mind their own business, aka people who actually enjoy fueling a tense situation to create more drama. You must be a pretty horrible human being if you take joy in encouraging your friends/family to fight among themselves.

    • People who look at their phones while someone is talking to them. I also dislike it when people go on their phones at the dinner table. It’s very rude.

    • People who give their kids stupid names. Not even kidding, I have met parents who have condemned their children with these hilariously tragic names: Llama, Nutella, Table, Flower, Tree, Rainbow, Boo Boo, Apple etc. I guess they think that their kids will be super special for being named after animals, inanimate objects, plants, fruits and food spreads etc., but I think they're more likely to get made fun of in school for their silly names, tbh.

I probably have a lot more pet peeves (judging from the length of this list, I seem to be an easily irritated person lol), but I think I'd be delving more into things that I hate, as opposed to things that just annoy me..and seeing as this is already a pretty long list, I'll just leave it at that.

(Edited for a couple of typos...unsurprisingly.)

I don't know about you, but I immediately dislike any of the parent's you'll see in stores and the supermarket that yell (And I mean yell) at their 3-5 year old children. It aggravates me so much. How could you do that to your own child?

    • When the professor forces you to buy a $300 textbook that he/she wrote.

I don't hate eating spaghetti. I said I hate eating it if it has thin noodles. Some restaurants I go to, they're pretty thick, and I like that. If they're thinner than a toothpick then I absolutely despise it.

*People who make themselves out to be so perfect on Facebook (looking at you, Aunt T), and are always posting about how they're such great parents and their awesome houses and how much fun they're having with their families. Maybe this is just because I fight with everyone and am an introvert.

    *Buzzfeed.

*Teachers who refuse to understand that, yes, I have a friggin medical disorder, here's my doctor's note, and no, I can't wait through the entire class to use the restroom.

*Glorifying mental/physical disorders. Depression isn't beautiful, anxiety isn't cute, OCD ain't trendy, ugh.

*People who make everything into race issues, a political agenda, or a sexism issue.

    *So much more.

  • This is really just turning into "what do I dislike". There's things that only apply to you and you only, and that's what I consider pet peeves.

I mean most everybody has put something like: "People who brag about _______." That may be something you dislike, but, doesn't EVERYONE not like braggers?
