Morgryn in Season 2: A Theory
So it's pretty obvious Morgryn's going to head North in the next season. He has his sights set on taking over Ironrath, and if you're one of the players who had Mira marry him then he's got a better claim on the hold than the Whitehills do.
However, the vast majority of players chose to have Mira die instead. In this eventuality Morgryn has no other way to acquire Ironrath and stay in the Ironwood business, so he'll have to cheat.
Mira's been in the South for two years at this stage, and most of her household has been ousted. Therefore, it's very likely there's nobody in the North who has a proper idea of what she looks like. So hypothetically, all Morgryn has to do is dress up a Forrester-looking woman in the house colors, marry her, and present her as Mira. So the real question is--where will he find someone with both the necessary appearance and the right motivation to assist him in the scheme?
Easy. He had a backup plan right under Mira's nose the whole time.
This woman is stuck in the jail cell across from Mira in Episode 6, and seems pretty crazed over the prospect of her impending death. She tells Mira about her son, specifically that there's "nothing she wouldn't do just to hold him again." This seems like a pretty easy weakness that a potential manipulator could exploit.
Furthermore, we don't know what this woman actually did that got her thrown in a cell--if she, in fact, did anything at all. As Morgryn demonstrated with Tom, he seems to have no qualms with framing the smallfolk for crimes they didn't necessarily commit, and it would certainly suit his purposes if this woman was desperate to cling to life by any means necessary.
As for her looks, she has the Forrester green eyes, and her greyness seems to be the result of dust/dirt rather than her* actually* being all grey. She even has roughly the same sort of face that Mira does. The only issue is that she seems a bit too old, but if Morgryn does in fact intend to keep Mira "in a cell," that shouldn't matter too much.
To wrap it up, we never actually see the woman being executed. Andros is always the one who gets beheaded before Mira/Tom, despite the fact Mira was clearly next in line to get taken out to the block.
So, while I'm possibly giving Morgryn a bit too much credit since Episode 6 doesn't present him as being particularly clever, I think this would be a great way to keep him as a threat for the players who chose to kill Mira in Season 2.
TL;DR The woman in the cell across from Mira in Episode 6 will be disguised as Mira and married to Morgryn so he can claim Ironrath in Season 2.
Comments
He is clever, but his ego got the better of him.
You see a lot of egotistical characters, such as Tywin Lannister, who manage to pull off their schemes without revealing their whole plot to the victim (or getting punched in the neck by the victim).
I'd very much agree that Morgryn was a complete idiot. His plan basically consisted of "let's bribe some guards and pray Cersei doesn't find out about any of it".
Then you can point out 3 BLINDINGLY OBVIOUS holes in his plan and it takes him ten minutes to even consider it, then he offers a deal most people would never consider accepting.
If he'd been smart, he would have not spilled the beans to Mira, act like he was caught off guard by the arrest, let her stew in the cell for a few hours, then how up and promise to get her out... but only if the Forresters deal exclusively with him/offer him something.
Hell he could not demand anything and just use this as influence over Mira, then maybe charm her slowly or something. Honestly if he'd acted like it wasn't his fault then offered us a half-decent deal to get us out I would have accepted in a heartbeat. He was being even more stupid than Andros honestly.
I like Morgryn at first and I so regret it now! I chose to let Mira say yes to marry him (I'm so sorry Tom) because I don't want her to die; most of her family members are dead and getting out of jail with a marriage proposal is one of the not-you-see-everyday scene/opportunity. She could use Morgryn to her family's advantage since he's a total dumbass.
Some people are better with keeping their egos in check than others.
