    Hi i'm LODE_Logic
    Iv'e created a machine in 1.9
    One i made so i could fly in survival vanilla style :D
    This iv'e dubed the "SkiWalker" (in no way affiliated with StarWars fyi)
    Not the most efficient system, one that one could improve upon, but it serves to conceptualize "Sky Walking"
    Probably not the first to have this idea but here's my take

    just push the button to get started
    snowball - on/toggle
    apple - off
    remove the redstone under the lanterns on the sides to turn it off completely
