TWD: Michonne unpleasant Steam discussions

edited February 2016 in The Walking Dead

After seeing some people talk about this on the forums and checking it out, I figured we dedicate this thread to how ridiculous some of these discussions are. Yes, they are allowed their own opinion, but a bunch of people are hating on this game and Telltale when the series hasn't even come out... Personally, I find it hilarious that they are so ignorant or prejudiced that they have to proclaim their hate through this service. (which is probably meant for people that enjoy the game, like this community for example) Post your favourite, or should I say most... appaling? Threads here. Let me begin with what would be on many people's mind in this forum: http://steamcommunity.com/app/429570/discussions/0/405692124738694984/ (keep in mind, the guy is really using the discussion to proclaim his hate on everything but TWAU. sigh Shame 120bpm, shame.) Also, this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/429570/discussions/0/405692124737847480/ (special kudos to Metallica for defending Clem.)

--- [No, this is not meant for those haters out there to proclaim your hate here. You know who you are, and I've seen some of you on these forums. If I see you tainting this thread, I will report you.] ---

Sidenote: If you think this thread is not the right thing to make, feel free to close this, Moderators. I understand, as it may have a more negative effect than anticipated.

  • I just went through to look at them for the first time and I realized 90% of people there don't even know what they're talking about when it comes to Telltale games. I'd just avoid that forum all together tbh, it's not like it has good moderation either, it's a steam forum after all.

  • It's a lot less cancerous than I thought it'd be. It's pretty much the usual, "wat is dis game", "where's season 3 of TWD?!", "WHERES WOOF AMONGST US", "They are milking the series", and so on and so forth.

  • "Colored protagonist"

What is this, the 1950's? Does this guy not realize that every protagonist in TWDG has been so called "colored"?

  • Ah... sorry. Didn't notice that. Uh, I'll change it to something that the person is serious about...

There's that guy with the RR profile pic that won't shut up.

Wow. Compared to how things were when it was Wolf Among Us and Walking Dead: Season 2 that were launched side by side, it's like hell froze over. Back then, people despised Wolf Among Us for quote-unquote "delaying" Walking Dead: Season 2 (despite being announced on the same day as Walking Dead: Season 1) and wanted more Walking Dead instead of Wolf.

Nowadays, you have people complaining that they'd rather have more Wolf Among Us than another Walking Dead game. It's mind boggling how that changed over time.

  • Oh, ok. Thanks. I have never really checked out a Telltale forum on Steam, so this probably isn't new for them. But, I figured I'd start here while the hate on steam is fresh. its so ridiculous...

  • yeah, I guess you're right. This just stuck out to me, and I kind of wanted to spread the word of how... obnoxious it is.

    SURPRISE

You think that's bad? Check out the Minecraft: Story Mode forum on Steam.

  • yea nothing new here the steam forums for most twd games are usually cancerous but holy shit it is so much worse here for some reason i saw one thread that went on about how telltale used a different voice actress from the show and how michonne looks nothing like she does from the show and when they were told it was based on the comics they would just respond with arrr no one cares about comics only nerds read them or some shit along those lines

  • Are they seriously complaining about playing as a colored person? Last time I checked, both S1 and S2 protagonists are of color. Lee was black and Clem is Indian.

OKAY, TO CLARIFY... http://steamcommunity.com/app/429570/discussions/0/405692124740286691/ (the "colored person" thread) <-- is fake... @ZapThroat showed he was joking... Just want to get your attention and clear this up. Turns out the forums weren't as bad as I thought they were.

  • and Clem is Indian

    Dude, she's black!

  • I always have a lot of fun with the new Steam forums when a new Telltale game comes out.

  • She definitely doesn't look black to me. Unless she was really unhappy with her skin color and tried to bleach it out like Nicki Minaj did. Which would be pretty offensive IMO.

She's either Indian, Persian or maybe Asian. Just because her parents were black doesn't mean she is. She could have been adopted.

  • your first mistake was going on the steam forum in the first place. they have no idea what they are talking about. heck one thread had someone saying you pay 30 bucks for one episode and not a whole season.

  • She's mixed. Her dad was African American and her mother was Asian.

  • Welcome to Steam.

  • Jesus christ no

  • I don't see why'd they joke about that. What's wrong with POC representation and are they forgetting the past two protagonists was POC too?

This is why I just stick to my own/my friends groups and threads.

  • That RR asshole is really getting on my nerves.

  • Wait, quote-on-quote? Isn't it quote-unquote? if not...mind blown O_o

  • Her mum may be mixed race too, she has several black features.

Nowhere near as bad as e.g. the Gone Home forums were when people realised the game had sensitively portrayed queer women in it. It really be much worse than this.

  • I think some people use it interchangeably, but you are right - quote-unquote is the proper version so I updated my post.

Did they just delete every thread? Awesome!

It was just an error sadly...

  • Damn, everyone complaining about "WHERES MY WALKING DEAD" and then they get some Walking Dead, to ease the wait, for the "Real" Walking Dead that will be coming out most likely this year, but yet they still find a way to complain about more Walking Dead.

    enter image description here

  • But her mom had an afro and dark skin in that picture in S1 EP1.

She's mixed. Her dad was African American and her mother was Asian.

  • they don't want walking dead they just want a game about clem. the whole " no clem no buy" thing is silly.

  • And when TWD S3 finally comes out, there will be people complaining that Telltale is "milking" their franchise for money. And the cycle of life goes on...

And if they release something other than TWD, they're also milking it (I can see the complaints, as an example, for Batman right now). Might as well say everything's being milked if it's being sold.

There are people already complaining about how their milking the franchise sadly. Hell, there were people complaining about them milking it when Season 2 was announced.

  • As I said on another thread, her mom could've been African-Asian-American, but the Asian gene stayed recessive. That can explain Clem's race issue once and for all.

But her mom had an afro and dark skin in that picture in S1 EP1.

  • What makes you think Clem's mom was Asian , though?

  • Clem possessed traits traditionally considered Asian in Season 1, such as the slanted eyes and very light skin.

What makes you think Clem's mom was Asian , though?
