IF he redeems himself... I had countless problems from Duncan this season. I know he means well, the problem is when he is so self-righteous that he will always tend to betray the Lord for what he thinks is right.
But to answer your question, he needs to keep Asher and Talia safe and alive for starters. That is the absolute least he should do. I also want him to stop being such a pacifist now that things are at rock bottom. My Asher is going to need a strong sword by his side and it's time for Duncan to man up. Oh, and he can also help form the dream team (Asher, Gared, bastards).

If he turns out to betray me again, or he's absolutely useless or Gared dies in season 2, I'm rewinding, and killing Duncan.
