Mass Effect Andromeda delayed till 2017

But is anyone really surprised? I honestly expected it to happen since day one when they announced a 2016 release. I can live with it though if it means the game is better for it, so I am still excited. What are you guys and girls thoughts on it being delayed? Are you surprised, mad, happy, shocked or indfiierent?

  • Yeah, no surprise there. I was kinda expecting a delay. :D

Good thing. The less it's rushed the better the product. I'm well aware how much backlash ME3 got (loved the game despite a few issues I had with it) because of a rushed product (not saying it's rushed now I mean at the initial release), rather not have a continuous cycle.

  • Not at all surprised. When's the last time they didn't delay a game? Me2?

  • Hopefully they are taking the time to make this game right. Mass Effect 3 was rushed and we all know how that turned out. Shepard deserved a better game.

  • Mass Effect 3 was a great game. It has some issues, but it's still almost on par with Mass Effect 2, and both of them are way better than Mass Effect if you look at it without nostalgia and/or hipster goggles. While first games/movies are often the best, sometimes sequels are just better. Mass Effect is really ugly and wasn't exactly pretty back in 2007 either, the controls are also cancerous. And the story isn't all that great either. I liked Mass Effect 2's suicide mission and Mass Effect 3's war plot much more. So I really don't think that Mass Effect 3 deserves all the hate and the original deserves all the love.

ME 3 has a good story only til the mars mission....then it is about moments. The story is filled with logic bombs that derail everything. If SR2 cost Cerberus a large chunk of the money they had...then where did the Cerberus fleet come from? Why did Cerberus attack the Citadel....there was no plan or outcome that made sense for such an expenditure and the loss of all those sleeper agents. How were a few million Krogan going to change the Palaven situation? 4 possible endings in the game...But only 1 made any sense for Shepard. Enslaving the Reapers went against the idealism of the overall story...Changing everyone's DNA...how was this even an option? The catalyst fought against the chaos of war between organics and synthetic...But was hot to trot to let synthesis happen...why not let evolution work itself out then..why do a stupid 50k year cycle if it felt synthesis was the best outcome. Destroying the reapers some how destroys Geth? What about the ones not in gets platforms....This made zero sense.
ME 1 of course suffered from boring side missions....But the actual story was a hell of a lot better than 3.

Mass Effect 3 was a great game. It has some issues, but it's still almost on par with Mass Effect 2, and both of them are way better than Ma

  • Uncharted 4 was also delayed.

but not as much as ME4.

  • I dunno I lost interest in the Franchise after Mass Effect 2. I just didn't like that it went from an RPG shooter to full blown shooter with a few minor RPG elements. lol

Hopefully they are taking the time to make this game right. Mass Effect 3 was rushed and we all know how that turned out. Shepard deserved a better game.

Usually this would be alright with me, and it's not the delay itself I have a problem with...it's the fact that so many members of the team have jumped ship along the way, (important ones too, the lead writer, the creative director, and more) and now this.

Gives me uncomfortable 'developmental hell' vibes. Which isn't really surprising; Mass Effect is probably by far the most uncomfortable franchise to create something for at the moment...

  • I love 3 too but i can understand why people hated the endings ( which is why i downloaded the extended cut.)

  • I'm not worried. I'm pretty sure the game was done written when the writer left

  • The reason they probably made people have to download the extended cut in order to see what effect your choice had on the future of the Mass Effect universe, is so they could charge extra people more money, even they just spent X-amount of dollars on the game already.

Personally, I never downloaded the extra content, and I never will. Why? Because I refuse to play Bioware's stupid little con-game. Let them get extra rich off someone else!

I already left this comment in reply to another user, but I think it makes a damn good point, hence I'll repost it.

And just to add a little bit here, I like ME3 - I liked the graphics, the weapons, and alike. My only complaint about the weapons is when it came to the semi-automatic sniper rifles, that you always had to use multiple shots to take down an opponent. Given the power that a sniper rifle has, it should've just taken one shot to bring down a target.

Hopefully they are taking the time to make this game right. Mass Effect 3 was rushed and we all know how that turned out. Shepard deserved a better game.

  • The Extended Cut download is free.

  • Doesn't matter how long it take, I'm sure they will make hell of a game, wait is good... they will have time to write hech of a story and make the best of this franchise. The Bioware team are one of my best favorite company, every game they bring doesn't disappoint me! However the only think that I hate at Bioware is the DLC... they are good and full of fun.

If they'll make a open world role-playing third person shooter it will become a dream of mine and just imagine what if they'll bring co-op gameplay to the story or separate story as a co-op!

Now little bit of remember. What was your best DLC mine is Omega, Aria was amazing but selfish however if side with her as good dog she will give you something special :3 and the second memorable was Citadel is something to think at killing yourself...

  • Oh man, hard to choose which would be my top fav but my favourites were definitely all three story DLCs to ME3 and The Arrival from ME2.
