The fact it has xblankx in it's name is a throw back to users who think having XXXX in their name is cool. Microsoft names consoles in whatever why they think will draw in the mentally challenged gamers who think XX in their name is awesome. =3

This is the correct answer. They've already confirmed it. There's not going to be an Xbox 2.
I think its a good thing if they implement it right. Ideally, they release an upgrade every year or so, and if you don't buy it, you can still run the latest games, but not at the highest graphics settings. You would have 5 years or so before your machine becomes too obsolete to run current games. Its kind of a bummer to lose that big leap forward feeling every new generation, but I think that would be outweighed by new games being held back by old hardware. Like, its ridiculous that 2013 games had to run on 2005 hardware.
My only concern is confusion on the user's part. People prefer consoles over PCs precisely because they don't have to think about this stuff. I hope that the upgrades are sparse and simple enough that you don't have to think too much. If consumers have to decide whether they want a new GPU or CPU, Microsoft has failed. And the Xbox should detect your hardware and auto-decide which graphics option is optimal. You shouldn't have to muck around with the settings like in PC.
