Do you prefer playing video games with a keyboard and mouse or a controller?

I prefer using a keyboard and mouse. The only problem I have with controllers is the right joystick. It moves the camera SOOO slow, no matter how high I turn the sensitivity up.

  • It depends on what kind of game I'm playing. If I'm playing a point-n-click game for example, I prefer mouse and keyboard.

  • I prefer controller for most, for the simple fact that I can lean back in my chair and relax with a controller, rather than hunched over the keyboard and mouse. Only games I play with K&M are Telltale games and ones that don't support controllers.

Keyboard and mouse, mostly because I've played a shit ton of fps games and have gotten very used to it

  • It depends of a game. I use controller when I play Dark Souls for example but keyboard and mouse when playing Enter the Gungeon.

  • Usually, I like the controller. I like having all the buttons I need in my hands instead of everything sprawled out in front of my hands.

Definitely controller, if a game has controller support I'm sure as heck going to use it.

This doesn't mean I dislike keyboard and mouse, there's just sort of a learning curve since I'm relatively new to PC gaming. I'm just comfortable to what I'm used to.

  • Controller. Im not used to using a keyboard and mouse.

  • Depends on what I'm playing the game on.

  • Well, what do you use if you play a point-click game?

Depends on what I'm playing the game on.

Never was a fan of mouse and keyboard for gaming except that I think they are better to play GTA San Andreas and Outlast. Modern games (For example: Metal Gear Solid 5, GTA 5, Batman Arkham series, Assassin's Creed series, Alien Isolation) are better played with a controller.

  • Went out of my way to buy a controller yesterday. I hate keyboard and mouse gaming with exceptions like MMOs.

  • Once I went Mouse and Keyboard, I could never go back. Controllers just feel so clunky and unresponsive in comparison.

  • A mouse and keyboard. If I'm playing a fighting game (usually on my X360/PS4) so I use a controller.

Well, what do you use if you play a point-click game?

  • I suppose Keyboard and Mouse, but hey controllers aren't bad either.

  • Grew up mouse and keyboard, but I prefer controllers now. I prefer the ease of multitasking and sitting on a couch/bed with a controller. Controller is easier to clean if you're snacking too. Really, what I'm saying, is that I'm lazier now.

  • Controller for sure! I have a laptop and a barely any space to work with at my place, so keyboard and mouse isn't exactly the best combo for me.

  • Controller all the way for me.

  • Controllers are for more advanced movements (in example the ability to drive as fast as pedestrians in GTA with triggers instead of being forced to go full throttle on keyboard and mouse) so I'm gonna definitely use a controller

  • I always use keyboard and mouse, except when I play Telltale games. I don't even know why.

  • Well, what do you use for a point-click game?

I much prefer a keyboard and mouse as i find using them far more precise than a controller, the only time i have used a controller in a PC game recently was to fly a helicopter in GTA V and when playing Oxenfree.

    It depends.

For example, I shall take a keyboard and mouse any day for first/third-person shooters, stratagy games and point and click adventures. However, with games involving driving or fighting games (a la MK or Street Fighter), I definitely prefer the controller.

  • Depends, For stategy and FPS I prefer mouse and keyborad, for RPG, race ect I prefer controler

For classic point and click games (classic point and click style adventure games like Telltale's earlier games, Wadget Eye Games, etc, puzzle games), I prefer a keyboard and mouse. For Telltale's modern games, I prefer a controller. For most other games I also prefer a controller (especially for games that require a quick response time - I completed Psychonauts at release, before the revamped Meat Circus level, with a keyboard, and that wasn't very fun).

  • Oh god the meat circus level, that destroyed me as a child, personally though I find the game pretty good with the keyboard and the platforming really isn't that bad.

  • I've always used controllers so I think keyboard and mouse would seem alien to me.

Don't see the point in asking if you're going to act like you don't give a crap.

    Whatever.

  • For Telltale games I tend to use a controller. For FPS or AAA titles I mostly use KB+M (I bought a K70 and love the mechanical feel). No idea why I put off on buying a mechanical keyboard and I am also glad I went with brown switches even though they are louder than I expected.

I mean if you mostly play on PC most people probably stick to KB+M for most games I imagine. I stopped using a controller for a few years since about a year before Xbox one and PS4 came out I went PC only and still am.

  • Always used keyboard and mouse (even with fighting games!).

  • Well, he/she isn't answering me with a correct answer, so...

Don't see the point in asking if you're going to act like you don't give a crap.

  • Controller, always. I grew up playing games with controllers. Keyboard and mouse just feels awkward to me.

  • I used to use the keyboard and mouse. But once I started using a Xbox 360 controller, I never looked back.

If the game is well designed for mouse/keyboard, obviously yes.

If it's well designed for controller, then obviously yes.

If it is well designed for a Flight Joystick, then obviously yes.

Like example. War Thunder is well designed for mouse/keyboard, but for some reason my flight joystick I struggle on the game, while on real flight sims I get razer sharp response where as on War Thunder it feels like there is a huge dead zone I can not turn off which makes precise movements difficult with my flight stick. So I'm pretty much forced to use a Mouse/keyboard on that game otherwise i can not hit the broad side of a barn gunnery wise in an airplane.

  • If I'm playing Dark Souls, Zelda, Silent Hill or Collect-a-thon games (Jak & Daxter, Banjo Kazooie, Spyro, etc.) I prefer using a controller. However, games like Alien: Isolation, Amnesia, Outlast, Elder Scrolls, Fallout, etc. I like to use Keyboard and Mouse.

  • I'm more of a controller person with a keyboard and mouse I forget what button does which thing

  • Controllers, because I always fuck up when I try with a mouse and keyboard
