Greatest Jedi masters in the universe? Not very familiar with star wars lore I see. Revan was a stronger jedi than both of those wimps, when he was a jedi at least. Though I guess since the expanded universe isn't canon anymore because of Disney's idiocy they're a bit higher up there.
Yeah what kind of universe do we live in when Jar Jar Binks is canon but Revan and Mara Jade are not?
A better universe? I don't think any of it was ever officially considered canon. I think the only video game side story ever considered canon was Shadows of the Empire which actually did get George Lucas' stamp of approval when he read the story, he loved it.
Qui Gon doesn't even stand a chance
Umm no, the Kotor storylines are so much better than the prequels. Hopefully Disney will take back and make some of these Condon again.
Different strokes for different folks. I think the canon star wars universe is way too sunshine and rainbows. Villain appears, hero beats villain, mega happy ending. So fun right? The new movies seem to be taking a step in the right direction but I hope they get darker further on, still too nice right now in my opinion. The expanded universe was a lot more interesting, hell Revans whole life was a lot more interesting than all 6 star wars movies.
Oddly I thought KOTOR and KOTOR II were insanely too light vs dark. There was little to no gray area personally, you'd honestly have to be a bad person to not end either of the games without max light side rating personally if you play the game honestly without role playing. Not sure about The Old Republic MMO on the other hand.
Jar Jar as a Jedi would cause less damage than Qui Gon.
Qui Gon brought balance to the force. He caused the Jedi and Sith to become endangered for generations to come. Galaxy is better without them. =3
Being better than the prequels doesn't mean being canon, the reason Disney removed allot of stuff from the canon timeline is because it consistently contradicted itself, plus Knights of the Old Republic is a choice-based game, so the chances it would be canon in the first place is slim.
'Sunshine and Rainbows'? Well I'm sure it is considering the canon timeline consists of death, the clone wars, order 66, the rebellion and now the new order. Sorry but I disagree that it's anywhere near 'sunshine and rainbows' especially when the main plot is about the empire oppressing people and turning them into war slaves.
The first KOTOR game was pretty sunshine and rainbows as well, the second one, now that one went in a completely different direction. Anyways when I'm talking about Revans life I don't just mean the games, his story doesn't begin nor end in the first game, it's just one chapter of his life.
I was referring to the 6 movies exclusively, and it's a fact that they're nothing compared to the comics. Oooh there's "deaths", how dark! There was nothing "dark" about the rebellion, soldiers died and in the end the hero after some struggles beats the nigh invincible villain.
Liam Neeson because he is a more experienced actor
death, slavery, war, politics, a blurred line between good/bad. I think the original 6 films had all of those. Heck, the main antagonist plays a good guy and a bad guy in the prequels and originals. lol
Ya sure Lucas sucks at directing but it was all actually there. I personally wish the Empire would be portrayed a bit more gray such scenes do exist, but often were cut from production.
Qui Gon invented the "turning to force ghost" technique, didn't he?
And also, he is my favourite Jedi. They should do a movie about him, not Han. Yeah, you can say that Phantom Menace is technically about him, but in my opinion he is much more interesting than a blaster wielding no-good smuggler.
Even the 6 movies have dark themes, I guess you don't consider death, betrayal, war, slavery and manipulation as dark themes? Well either way they are still dark themes. It's subjective that they're nothing compared to the comics, not a fact, even then, most of the comics contradicted one another and are now Legends meaning they are no longer canon, they may be good but that's subjective. So soldiers dying are not dark? A planet filled with innocent people being blown up is not dark? Oppression and slavery is not dark? I'm wondering if we watched the same movies?
Wasn't The Force Unleashed originally canon?
I think the issue is, most of the expanded universes likely were not officially canon. Similar to a vast majority of Mobile Suit Gundam Manga/books/ova/video game stories even if they're based in the same universe, even during the same war, or even have some original characters make appearances, didn't mean they were canon.
I know Lucas himself often got involved on game/side story productions, mostly to see what was up, but he rarely officially declared something canon. As I said I've only read that he did so on Shadows of the Empire. He liked the story, even admitted he wish he wrote it. Even saying it fits perfectly with the events surrounding Empire Strikes Back.
The Forced Unleashed, I never got into those games so I've not read much on them. If Lucas gave it a similar treatment and endorsement as he did Shadows of the Empire then it is likely it was "was" officially canon at one time. I know some of the characters were actually referenced in Force Awakens, so it is possible that Forced Unleashed may still be canon, just not officially yet.
The stuff that made Star Wars a much better fictional universe is not even canon anymore.
So assuming we only count "canon" stuff then Qui-Gon would probably kick his ass.
Obi-Wan bested Darth Maul in combat due being angry over his master's death, even if it was brief. Even though his padawan training was considered complete by his master, he was still a "noob" compared to full-fledged Jedi.
Who from the force unleashed was referenced in the force awakens? I didn't catch any.
It depends what stage they are at. If Qui Gon and Obi Wan are both at their strongest then Obi Wan could probably get a victory, considering how he beat Anakin, Darth Maul AND Savage Opress (at the same time) and General Grievous.
The Battlestation planet was Starkiller Base. Galen Marek's codename was Starkiller. Though some say it's a reference to Luke Skywalker who's original last name was going to be Starkiller, but the issue is Marek's codename was also Starkiller for the same reason as a reference to the original pre production name for Luke Skywalker. issue being Luke Skywalker 'canon' never went by Starkiller so.. Marek is the most known person in Star Wars to use Starkiller. hehe
There were also a lot of flags from outside the Star Wars films represented at that one Galactic Pit stop they stopped at with the Frog Lady whom's name I can not remember yet.
I just realized something about those prequels.
George Lucas went too far with this whole "no emotion" Jedi thing that it's hard to get even an idea what kind of person Qui Gon is during the first episode.
Wise-cracking rebellious Jedi?
It's hard to analyze how he would do in combat against Obi-Wan when we barely get to know him.
