Am I the only one who hates Mike from Until Dawn?

I know, I know, he's all heroic and shit, but it still doesn't change the fact that he's an asshole. Here's some examples:

  1. Hannah had a crush on Mike, so then he's like all, "let's pull a prank on an innocent girl for having a crush on me!". That shit was cruel AF. He dosen't feel guilty about it, he doesn't even fucking blame himself for it!!!
  2. When Jessica (alive) falls down the elevator shaft, he doesn't even see if she's still alive! What does he do instead? Go after the Stranger. Worst. Boyfriend. EVER.
  3. He locks Josh in the shed, which causes him to die or turn into a Wendigo.

Not to mention that he also took the situation with Emily's bite and needlessly escalated it to stratospheric levels while (potentially, depending) killing her. Oh, and that he also completely rejected the sound and safe plan of waiting until dawn for the rangers in favour of his little ridiculous plot to recover a key from Josh who had been taken by FUCKING WENDIGOES, REAL FUCKING SMART, BOI! THAT ERRAND DID PRECISELY NOTHING USEFUL, IN FACT, IT ACTUALLY MADE THE SITUATION WORSE!

Ahem, needless to say, I found him greatly unlikeable. I did not hate him so much as I did Emily, though.

Although, you can forgive him for Jessica (He had valid reasons to believe she was dead, and I did not see another way down that mineshaft) and him locking Josh in the shed, since he had no knowledge of the wendigoes at that point.

  • Well Mike wasn't the only one at the prank. They all agreed to do it you can't blame it all on him.

Well he obviously didn't want Jessica to die, he just thought she was dead. You can see that he cared a lot about her (unless you chose to be a dick).

Once again, he and Chris locked Josh and it was probably a group decision. He also rescues Josh later on along with Sam.

He's not evil, none of them are, they just made mistakes and we all do mistakes.

  • It wasn't Mike's idea for the prank to happen. It was all on Emily.

  • No. I actually greatly dislike Mike quite a bit.

Although, I can't say I was fond of 80% of the cast in general.

  • Holy cow. Can we just put this to rest? We get it, you hate Mike, let's move on please.

Besides, the bottom two points of your argument are simply invalid. You don't look at the context behind those decisions he's made!

  • Eh , i didn't like him at first , but he got okay at the end of the game.

Dude. He locked Josh in the shed because Josh had just psychologically tortured all of them , and they also thought Josh had killed Jessica. It's not like they just put him out there for shits and giggles.

He's literally the first person to apologize to Hannah for the prank. I can't believe how he turned from one of my least favorite characters to one of my favorites.

    -He's a natural leader.

-Brave enough to go alone after the Wendigo's and Josh's key.

-Works well with animals, he's a wolf tamer.

-Turns into Nathan Drake towards the second half of the game.

Does this man have ANY flaws?

  • Actually, Jessica planned the prank.

@AronDracula and @Wolfenus54, plz halp may owt h3r3

  • I hated that smug piece of shit. Even in his so called character change he was easily the most irritable character in the game. The class A douche who the writers push to be a leader, yeah not having it. The fact that he's only killable at the WAY end of the game just made it seem there was plot armor for him.

  • Seriously? XD

@AronDracula and @Wolfenus54, plz halp may owt h3r3

  • Your just jealous cuz mike gets the pixel bitches

  • I think everyone hates Mike. Even the actor himself doesn't even care for him all that much.

  • By the end of the game I only gave a shit about Mike, Jessica, and Samantha.

Everyone else was expendable in my opinion.

...Oh and the wolf was pretty fucking rad too.

  • I didn't care about any of them. It was Terror Train(et al) all over again. They were all shitty people.

  • Chris was decent.

  • That would be dependant upon your decisions. But yes, he has the better potential to be decent in the story.

    Chris was decent.

  • He could be. A couple of them could be, but by the time all the introductions are done the second time around, every character has done something shitty to another.

    Chris was decent.

He's easily my most disliked character in Until Dawn, even more so than Emily.

    • He gets glorified way too much for a central character who took part in the prank to the point where he's never truly condemned for it, whereas only Jessica and Emily can die for their own contribution to the prank, with Matt and Ashley falling not too far behind.
    • Is shown to possibly cheat on Jessica with Emily and yet only Emily is condemned for her actions by Matt. Writers, a tango takes two, you know.
    • Is given plot armor for no justifiable reason until literally at the end of the game.
    • Is portrayed as intelligent in his profile card yet commits many idiotic moments that can potentially get himself or his friends killed (the 'Lets leave the safe haven and go get the cable car keys' springs to mind).
    • Makes his own decision to point a gun at his ex-girlfriend that he's supposedly going back to over Jessica over a suspected infected bite without even looking into whether it was true or not, as Ashley discovers minutes later.
    • Oh, and he gets to have a pet wolf by his side.

Yeah, not a big fan of him.

  • Isn't Josh a psychopath? It made sense to lock him up until the police can get him or something.

  • Yes.

    Seriously? XD

  • They all made some shitty decisions. Now it's up to you to say which one was the shittiest.

  • Two naggy, bitchy, whining pixelated women. Sign me up

  • About what?

@AronDracula and @Wolfenus54, plz halp may owt h3r3

  • Not even Chris who I think was the best protagonist of this game?

By the end of the game I only gave a shit about Mike, Jessica, and Samantha. Everyone else was expendable in my opinion. ...Oh and the wolf was pretty fucking rad too.

  • He is worse than Emily, definetly. At least Emily regretted that she played the prank on Hannah while the others didn't give a shit.

  • Mike is the fucking psychopath. He never gave a shit about Josh's sisters. He was such an asshole to lock Josh in the shed, he had no good fucking reason to do that. All this shit happened because of Mike, he doesn't deserve to live.

  • Mike, of course. He never gave a shit that Hannah and Beth got lost in the woods and were killed. The biggest fact about him is that HE CANNOT DIE UNTIL THE LAST CHAPTER. The game did force us to like him more than anyone.

  • But still, he had no reason to lock Josh in the shed. If you managed to reach Jess at the time, he still thought she was dead because asshole didn't bother to still go after her when he just saw she was still alive, instead, he went after the killer. Also, why the hell would he think Josh would be able to pull someone out of a door window like THAT?

  • He comes back a year later acting like a hotshot and showing no particular guilt or sympathy for Josh and he's desperately presented as someone we should love and cheer for. Fuck him and fuck the writing favoritism

I felt so bad for the Washington family. I made sure these motherfuckers knew what happens if they play unnecesary pranks on an innocent girl except Sam, Chris and Emily..

    This. Definitely this.
