  • Isn't it because of those little toys that come with the egg? So kids don't swallow them or something? They are amazing but kinda expensive to me lol.

  • If I can recall, those little toys lie in quite big yellow capsules, so it is impossible for a kid to accidentally swallow anything while eating an egg. And kids still eat everything small that looks tasty, like pencils, but the goverment doesn't ban pencils, right?

  • Here's an article why these eggs are forbidden in USA. Long story short, US regulation does not allow placing a 'non-food' object inside food, but only if it is not visible from the outside, which seem like a really strange reason to me : http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/food-and-drink/features/why-are-kinder-surprise-eggs-illegal-in-the-usa-10055273.html

  • In the U.S. we do have "King Cakes" which have an inedible toy baby in them. I think they are technically illegal, but nobody pays any attention, and U.S. customs can't stop them because they're made by independent bakeries here and not imported. They are mostly famous around the New Orleans area, so @happylovelyperson2016 is probably familiar with them.
