What difficulty do you like playing on when you play video games?

I always play on normal.

  • Same. Normal is a perfect balance of hard and easy.

  • My exact reasoning.

  • Normal, for the first time around. If the game was too easy, anf if I enjoyed it, I'll do a second playthrough on a harder difficulty. The exception for me, is the KH games since 2. Always play them on Critical Mode or Proud Mode, if CM isn't available.

  • Usually normal. But If I just want to have fun being an unstoppable god, I'll play on easy.

  • Hardcore. Just like myself.

  • Casual, so that I can actually progress through the game. If its not a point and click, or a platformer I'm very likely to fucking suck at it.

The dragon age games i always played on easy, because i have a hard time controlling companions in a fantasy setting. The witcher 3 i first played on normal, after that i made another playthrough on deathmarch . So it all depends on what kind of game it is.

So i basically play shooters, 3 person shooters/RPGs, with a cover based system on the hardest difficulty.
Stealth games i test the waters so to speak, to see if i'm good enough to play on the harder difficulty settings.

  • Easy or normal. I don't choose hard, very hard or very easy

  • I usually start on medium, die a million times, remember I suck, get frustrated, and then change the difficulty mode to easy.

  • Normal because it provides a challenge but not enough of one to make the game borderline impossible.

Normal. Sometimes Easy if I'm not too sure of myself, or I'd just switch it later.

  • Normal, and if the games good I'll usually replay it on hard.

I usually play on Normal, but I play Easy when I feel lazy :D

  • Usually I play at normal. Sometimes even on hard if I'm familiar with the franchise.

  • Start on Normal and see how the game is.

  • I always play on Hard first because I'm that much of a badass. Plus I love a challenge.

  • Easy because I play most games for their narrative.

  • Easy, because I'm a filthy casual.

  • Hey now. Filthy casuals stick together man!

    Filthy casuals UNITE!

Hey now. Filthy casuals stick together man!

  • I usually play on the hardest setting unless its bugged or ridiculous, the hardest difficulty on the last of us remastered was way to much but I think games are much easier nowadays fallout 4 was unplayable towards the end for me because its to easy loads of games are that way I played the newest broken sword it was so easy I wanted to cry

  • Normal because I like to think I am normal.

  • Usually normal unless it is an rpg. When playing an rpg I pick normal sometimes, but a lot of the times I'll play casual because I prefer to just relax and enjoy a good story.

  • Normal usually, unless I want the game to go faster, then I'll pick Easy. I find that Normal is easy enough for me to not get stuck for hours yet difficult enough as to provide a challenge.

  • Normal for new games to me

Hard / very hard for established games for me

I played Witcher 3 on normal then went higher to get the achievements.

Played the majority of Fallout 4 on Hard and Very Hard, got to the railroad on survival but the game kept crashing and losing hours so I stopped

    Hardcore/Insane on Gears of War

Usually normal and if i'm feeling confident, hard.

  • Excluding the Witcher I always do my first playthrough on normal and (sometimes) eventually attempt a harder difficulty. In regards to the Witcher it feels like you're meant to play on hard so it matters that you brew potions and oils and double check your bestiary before a fight.

  • Ashamed to admit, but I usually only plays Easy. I just prefer to play the story and often I simply can't devote so much time playing on Normal or Hard difficulty. However, I am playing with 70% difficulty on Mount and Blade, since it just feel more rewarding for accomplishing so much without it feeling easy.

  • Good old normal difficulty. Most of the time it feels that should be the mode it has to be played on first time around.

  • Usually normal, but I think that is going to start changing. I'll likely play Mankind Divided and Dishonored 2 on the hardest settings firsttime through.

  • Normal.

If I liked the game enough I'll put in the effort to go hard.

  • I like to play on the hardest difficulty settings now - although only if it's still fun for me like in Kingdom Hearts games.

  • Counts on the game. Some games they give insanely unfair advantages to the AI on harder difficulties. Like Company of Heroes, AI will use artillery strikes in "FOG" areas which the player can not do in kind. Which is stupid. If I'm playing Rise of Flight on the other hand, difficulty and realism is to the absolute max. lol

  • Most of the time i play on Hard or Normal sometimes easy if i want to simply breeze through it like a loser.
