Have First Person Shooters changed for better or for worse?
From the days of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and other games like it, to futuristic Call of Duty games and WW1 era Battlefield games, shooters have definitely changed. They used to focus more on challenge and realism and now they focus more on having fun and throwing realism to the side. The amount of first person shooter game sales have certainly went up, and with that came a whole new era of fans. The question is, has the genre changed for better or for worse? Tell me your thoughts below!

I don't know why but I thought "first person shooters" meant as in terrorists. I guess it's time for bed.
But truly, do you think mass shootings have changed for better or worse?
It mainly depends on your preference with shooters.
I must say that the play style of shootings has very much improved, as in the gameplay in more comfortable for the average gamer.
I can only say that their technology is OP. ISIL sending videos from deserts is a whole new level.
Must nerf ISIS.
Kinda, yes.
For me better I love TLOU, Bioshock, red dead, TR, Uncharteds, FEAR series etc FPS my fav games and when you play masterpiece of fps nowadays the story, graphics and gameplay are just awe inspiring.
Right now not fan of FPS I loved the new Uncharted and will love rise of TR, Mafia tho
I'm not fan of multiplayer only FPS like Evolve, payday, Overwatch, Stars wars Battlefront etc I adore good story I plays games to get lost in great story as well not drown in microtansactions.
I just play single campaigns on all my games
For me much better I just hope multiplayer only games do not take over the FPS shooters
Edit: To any Admin, if you find the video inappropriate well, ya you know what to do. =3
Problem I have with shooters today are they're becoming pointlessly too complicated.
A few modifications and a modernize version of say Doom 2 so it's more playable control wise for someone who is used to mouse/keyboard and it ends up being a superior game still than most modern shooters. Which is tragic. Example blew. PLEASE CHILDREN stay away from this video. Then again I think I was like 5 or 6 years old when I played my first Doom. lol
I'm 100% serious about that as well. I grew insanely tired of modern FPS years ago. I've almost completely gave up on major franchises as the games are too catored towards a larger audience trying to please too many people with too many different taste that the games themselves are just meh. But I decided to play Brutal Doom and it blew my mind. Most fun I had with a FPS in years. I mean I couldn't stop smiling/laughing when watching that video above, and I guess I need to get the latest version of that mod now. Fully 3D games can just kiss my rump. This is what Bethesda should of done with their new Doom game. lol
My copy of gal gun double peace arrived today and thats... um... a interesting one, to say the least.
FPS have most definitely gone backwards, especially modern military ones. There has been far too much focus on designing addictive multiplayer modes and as a result the single-player experiences have been reduced to nothing more than light gun simulators lacking entirely in intelligent game design (of course, there are always exceptions). FPS these days are far easy as well, mostly due to devs wanting to appeal to larger mainstream audiences, but the games lose reliability and reduce the need for coming up with a personalised play style to maximise success as a direct result.
For whatever reason I thought school shootings and/or terrorists shooting people.
Yeah, I should go to bed.
