Watchmen One of the few even worth mentioning personally. It's the only super hero movie based off a comic book series that blew me away, and to think it isn't even 10% as popular as the rest.
Would V for Vendetta count? That movie is incredible and I know it has a "visual book" of some sort.
If it's based off a comic book and it's a movie, it counts
Awesome. That's my choice then!
All-time best comic book movie adaptation:
Not necessarily all superhero movies:
1: The Dark Knight
2: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
3: Blue is the Warmest Color(Yeah. This was actually a graphic novel.)
4: Wrinkles
5: Guardians of the Galaxy
6: Spider-Man 2
7: Captain America: The Winter Soldier
8: Kick-Ass
9: The Amazing Spider-Man (Yeah. I know plenty of people hate this movie, but I love it. Sue me.)
10: X-Men: Days of Future Past
11: Batman Begins
12: Kingsman: The Secret Service
13: V for Vendetta
14: Oblivion (This was based on a graphic novel actually. I also realize a lot of people hated this movie, but I loved it. Again, sue me.)
15: Dredd
16: The Crow
17: Akira
18: Ghost in the Shell
19: Superman
20: Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm; Batman Begins; The Dark Knight; Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero; The Crow (94);
Hellboy; Hellboy: Sword of Storms (2006, animated TV movie); Hellboy: Blood and Iron (2007, animated TV movie);
Men In Black; Men in Black 3; Stan Lee's Mosaic (2007, animated direct-to-video movie); Superman (1978); X-Men (2000);
X2: X-Men United; X-Men: First Class & X-Men: Days of Future Past
I'm just curious, what's your opinion on Amazing Spider-Man 2?
Hellboy
Sin City
Scott Pilgrim Vs The World
I guess Watchmen, but the comic is WAYYYYY better
Kickass
I remember liking it fine (although its been a while since I've seen it.) Lots of people complained about it being too goofy, but I failed to see how it was any more or less goofy than any of the other Spider-Man films. But again, I haven't seen it in a while.
Wow, I had no ideal Blue is the Warmest Color was a graphic novel.
Although I do have mixed opinions on the film, I would say I'm more or less in the same boat with the people who enjoyed it.
I loved it. It's one of my favorite films. Although I do agree with most people that the sex scenes were a little too graphic and went on for too long. But other than that, I just fell head over heels in love with this movie.
I can respect sex scenes if they add to the film in a tangible way.
But yes, the sex scenes verged from graphic to excessive a few too many times. Added, I feel as though the film being literally 3 hours was slightly detractive to the subject matter as a whole. It could've easily been 2 hours and just as powerful, but still a fine film as a whole.
I didn't even really notice the 3 hour run time. But honestly, I could've easily watched it for another 7. But yeah, I'd imagine that sitting through a 3 hour movie wouldn't really be everyone's cup of tea.
Eh, it depends really.
At that mark, I'd expect something more of an "epic" or even of surrealist subject matter. The movie never threw me any curve balls or left me expecting something out-of-the-ordinary in terms of where the plot was going.
Damn fine acting, writing, directing, all of the above. However, there comes a point where I can see the predictability of a film.
Kingsman: The Secret Service. Not only one of the best comic book movies I've ever seen, but one of the best movies I've ever seen.
1.Batman (All movies)
2. Spiderman 2
3. The Incredible Hulk
4. Fantastic Four Rise of the Silver Surfer
5. The Crow
6. Men In Black
7. The Shadow
