Hey, guys? Which Assassin's Creed games should I buy?

I feel like buying some new games, and at the same time, I don't wanna waste money on a bad game.

Which ones are worth it?

Literraly all of them have a very deep and good story, if you mean about gameplay the 1st and 2nd one are a bit harder then the rest

Honestly if you want the most from the story start from AC and play all the way through. They're all very closely connected. I skipped 1 and started at AC2, was hooked enough to play the rest.
Don't play the 2 new ones first, they are average compared to the others imo.

AC3 is my favourite of them all, just adding that because I can.

I'd play the first one, the ezio trilogy and AC 4. I thought AC 3 was boring. Revelations was the best hands down. Liberation and rogue were pretty fun too. Haven't played the newest ones because I can't run them.

Okay, guys, I'm gonna buy 1, the Ezio trilogy and 3. Just for the main story.

  • I also really love AC3. It's probably one of the most underrated mainstream games of last generation.

  • 1,2, brotherhood, revelations

  • The first and Black Flag. The only two I thought were fun.

  • The first one is a very good game but Assassin's Creed II will always be my favorite. I definietly recommend the second one.

    The first one

Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China is different but I like it

another DLC The Last Maharaja for Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is also nice

I think it would be very interesting to have a full game set in the Orient maybe in between China/Korea/Japan

  • ALL OF THEM! But if you're not a fan of the series, my favourites are:

    • AC1
    • AC Black Flag
    • AC Syndicate
  • Skip AC1, the story is all right, but the gameplay and diversity of missions are horrendous. You should get all Ezio games, those are the best (AC2, AC: Brotherhood and AC: Revelations). AC3 has some of the best cinematic scenes of the series, and better gameplay, but the main character is an unlikeable douchebag and the story is mediocre.

Get AC4: Black Flags, it's the most fun game in the series. The protagonist is once again an asshole, but it just works with the pirate setting. Him being a thieving scumbag is actually what gets the story started in the first place. But that is also its biggest flaw: the story is pretty bad. Not terrible, but not as good as before.

Ignore Unity and never speak of it again. It's not only the worst AC game, it's one of the worst games in general. A constantly low framerate, missing textures, missing faces, everything just looking like it's made of plastic...the protagonist is a bad imitation of Ezio in AC2 (slightly arrogant aristocrat), the story is weak, just a terrible game all around. I got this from a friend for 10€, needless to say that it was a waste of money.

I haven't played any AC games since. I heard that Rogue is ok and that Syndicate is a big improvement on Unity. But I lost interest in the series even before Unity, that was just the final straw.

  • If you care about the present-day storyline at all, then play the games in order. If not, then play the Ezio trilogy (AC 2, Brotherhood and Revelations). You might enjoy AC3 if you interested in the American Revolution, but AC4 Black Flag is a big improvement (more focus on naval combat and a much more pirate-ish feel).

Fuck Unity though. It goes back on all the progress Black Flag made. It's the same AC format as usual, but it's boring as hell, the story is uninteresting, and the map is cluttered. I've heard that Rogue is much better.

As for Syndicate, it's not as bad as Unity, but I've struggled to get into it. Maybe if I had more time and less other stuff to play, I might enjoy it more. Give some of the older games a go first though, whatever you do. They're easily the best.

  • no one should ever skip the first in a series

  • I wouldn't buy any of those.

Why not try a new series take a risk and play something completly new, I dont think ive heard you talk about jrpg's try one of those.

  • First games of series this old are almost all overrated, and I say that even though I hate the term overrated. They may have been good once, but they just didn't hold up, Assassin's Creed being a prime example. The story doesn't even relate to later games much and is not worth sitting through tedious amounts of boring and prepetitive missions.

  • what? the 1st Assassin's Creed is old for you? I don't dare to ask what the first C&C, Gabriel Knight, or Baldur's Gate is for you then

    That's what I'm doing...

  • Assassin's creed 1 through Revelations. They are the only ones worth getting because everything after Revelations turned to crap. Revelations was the best in the series in my opinion.

  • I'd say try Assassin's Creed II - it's what got me into the series personally and it may be a fun experience for you :)

  • 2, Brotherhood, Black Flag, & Syndicate are my personal favorites

  • Agreed, if you have native american family, its extremly good. My cousins inform me its most accurate account of the time from an "Indian" point of view.(minus of course the completely impossible) apparently if you know what you are seeing it adds something that's missing elsewhere in media. That aside, I found it to be a good game despite my lack of understanding. But Black Flag would be my go to for pure fun!

I also really love AC3. It's probably one of the most underrated mainstream games of last generation.

  • Hahahahaha

    • Best and biggest (I think): Black Flag
    • The hardest: AC 1
    • The worst (that I played): Rogue

Play the first game, The gameplay is quite boring but the story is nice and skipping it is just a very bad idea, However if you don't feel like playing an old game at least read the plot summary. Play the Ezio trilogy and watch AC Embers short film. Give AC3 a try and if you liked it play its spin off (AC Liberation) as well. Play AC Rogue( It's very important that you play this game before AC Black Flag because if you don't AC Rogue will become boring as hell), it acts as a sequel to AC Black Flag and a Prequel to AC3. Play AC Black Flag. Skip the rest.

  • But you have played assasins creed before you mentioned it

  • Where have I mentioned it exactly?
