  • I've waited an hour for Darlene to respond.

It's a cool text-based game. I like it so far. Just waiting for Darlene.

  • so, I guess I won't able to ask how long the game is since its time based.

  • Wow, all this hype for 2 weeks for THIS?
It's the most dissapointing thing since my son...

I don't know about you, but I wasn't expecting something massive as soon as Night schoolers got involved. What we got sounds pretty cool and who knows, Job is currently at gamescom, maybe we'll get a bigger announcement on something bigger there.

  • Maybe we could get some smaller news about other Telltale things on the side, but I'm expecting this to be their main (if not their only) focus. Even if it's not directly a Telltale series, it's still a new game so keep that in mind.

  • Yeah, I wasn't expecting a Telltale style game, but I would never think that this game is about sending a message and then waiting for couple hours.

This app sounds interesting for Mr Robot fans but i have never watched the show so i won't know who i am talking to on the app if any show characters are on it, i could give the show a watch to understand the game better but for now i am going to hold back on buying the app.

  • The idea sounds cool, Adam Hines is a great writer, Night Shool are talented but... mobile only...

  • I like this idea, and I like that Telltale were involved in making it happen since I love both them and Mr. Robot! Guess I'll scrape together some change...

  • Agreed, this genre works a lot better when the studio involved are able to work together on some projects, and this is a lot better than 7 Days To Die. And it's also made me much more keen to check out the PS4 version of Oxenfree when I finally get my PS4 up and running in a few days.

Yeah, I think it's cool to see Telltale Publishing dabble in helping smaller developers get their own story based games out there. When Tell

  • According to the behind the scenes trailer it should take about a week to complete all of it, I assume you do so in chaptered short sections, maybe once a day?

so, I guess I won't able to ask how long the game is since its time based.

  • I suspect that Telltale will have more to show, maybe an Episode 2 trailer for Batman, an Episode 8 trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode, or some more behind the scenes stuff for Walking Dead Season 3.

  • I'm pleasantly surprised. I'm a massive Mr. Robot fan and obviously adore Telltale but I've been trying not to get my hopes up due to the Night School collab (nothing against them, I just knew it wouldn't be a traditional Telltale game).

I assumed it would be some sort of cool, yet ultimately gimmicky companion app parodying E-Corp, so I'm pretty stoked to see it's actually narrative-driven and choice-based!

The real-time thing is interesting too - I'm currently waiting for Darlene to text me back.

Couple this with the Mr. Robot VR Experience (which was phenomenal) and the show is doing some really cool stuff with non-traditional media.

If you haven't gotten into the show I wholeheartedly recommend it - it's insanely good (albeit pretty weird)!

  • Reminds me a lot of the Lifeline series by Three Minute Games (which are fantastic by the way).

  • I've only ever seen the first 3 episodes, sadly I've had any major plot points spoiled for me.

    Thanks internet.

I just finished episode 4. Better to be safe than sorry.

  • "Find Darlene's phone"

Man I wonder why I can't I play this on my PC...

  • So, we finally got the confirmation of Mr. Robot:1.51exfiltrati0n. Neat! I've updated the thread with a few more details.

  • So im a idiot can someone explain what this is, use small words please

Actually I've only seen like half of the first episode and I've still been having a blast with this - I'm not sure if the characters are specifically from the show or not, but it does a great job setting up this crazy mystery setting. If anything it actually makes me want to watch the show, haha.

  • It's a mobile App created by Night School Studios (the developers of Oxenfree) and released via Telltale. It's based on the Mr Robot series and set within the first season of that show, though I haven't watched it so I can't explain about it. But effectively you've found a cell phone where you can log into an E-Corp app (who are the villains of the series I believe, they are nicknamed Evil Corp) before you get hacked and start getting messages from Darlene, who is one of the characters on the show apparently. So it's like a Telltale Choice based game (you can pick from some options what to say to Darlene) which takes place over an extended period, since she only speaks to you occasionally.

So im a idiot can someone explain what this is, use small words please

  • It's a wasted potential.

  • And there I was expecting a real game haha. Thanks for the info.

I guess we should have expected a telltale publishing game but I hardly even count apps as games anymore.

  • Its wasted potential? Its not their fault you got hyped

  • I think that the idea itself is great. But why did they limit their audience so much? I know that the game is suppose to feel like a real message app, but i would gladly sacrifice immersion for being able to even play it.
