In your opinion, what is the hardest final boss in any of the games you've played? (Spoilers)

Spoilers for Drakengard 1 and 3.

Drakengard 3's final boss is more of a fight against the camera, and then there's the last bullshit note after the screen already faded to black.

But it's not like the final boss of the first Drakengard was any easy.

I guess if I played some rythm games, I wouldn't have had such a bad time.

  • Probably Fester's Quest. Whatever the final boss is. Be honest. No one ever got anywhere near the final boss.
I know it was hip a while ago to bring the game up for it's lack of direction and insane difficulty curve, but I had it as one of my first 4 Nintendo games and seriously... It's hard. With only having 4 games back then(SMB, SMB3, Batman), I played it A LOT and only every got to the second boss.

  • God of War. When Kratos has to fight his doppelganger. I did this once on the hardest difficulty.

Five years later and I was about to tear my own hair out because of the frustration. I seriously can't fathom how a younger me, who was significantly less adept at videogames, managed to pull it off.

  • Nicole in Dead Space 2.

  • Imlerith on Death March on Witcher 3.... Fuck. That.

  • Really? Why?

    Nicole in Dead Space 2.

  • Three reasons.

    1. My screen was blurry
    2. There were necromorphs attacking me
    3. Nicole can teleport and instakill you

    Really? Why?

  • I was thinking about all these different games... Shao Khan in MK9 because I am bad at fighting games, Bellower because I just wasn't ready, Wiegraf even though he isn't a final boss...

But then I remembered Mike Tyson from Punch-Out. Because Mike Tyson.

  • When you fight Starrick in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. Because I was too busy laughing at how shitty and dumb the boss fight was.

  • I didn't have trouble with her. Maybe you were just using weapons that don't preform well in that fight or something.

When I first played it, I used nothing but a fully upgraded Refurbished Plasma Cutter and Pulse Rifle. Sometimes in some levels, I used a Javelin Gun with no upgrades.

  • Yeah, that's a nightmare scenario for that fight. I drop the plasma cutter as soon as I get the line gun, and I never saw the point of the javelin gun when I already have kenesis.

  • She's not exactly a final boss, but Laura from The Evil Within was the hardest boss for me. She moves fast and can kill the player instantly. She also has to be fought again later in the game and is even stronger the second time around. A lot of running and strategy was needed to defeat her.

I only used those 2 things to save credits...and nodes.

Ahhh, I remember that the first time I played DS1, I used nothing but a plasma cutter. Just for the achievement.

Yeah, that's a nightmare scenario for that fight. I drop the plasma cutter as soon as I get the line gun, and I never saw the point of the javelin gun when I already have kenesis.

  • I ended up getting all the achievments for the first one. Almost had all for the second but hardcore was too much for me. 'I'll use my next save when I get into the marker lab,' I told myself. I severely underestimated all the black oil necros that pour into the room when you open the lab doors. I was killed by an infector and felt great shame, never to attempt it again.

Uh, but yeah, going plasma cutter only in the first game was fun. There was never a time where you really needed anything else.

I would say it's probably only your hardest fight because you restricted yourself so much. If you went into that fight with your pulse rifle plus a force gun and a contact beam it would have been a different story.

  • If I ever want to go hardcore in DS2, I'll follow a walkthrough or somthin'.

But yeah, the only purpose of having another weapon in DS1 was just in case you run out of ammo for the cutter.

But if I recall, I only died I think 5 or 6 times from Nicole's teleporting in the final boss.

  • The hardest final boss I have ever played is the Soul of Cinder from Dark Souls III. Holy fuck, like, I'm somebody who is really good at rolling and telegraphing attacks, I rarely have trouble with any boss fights once I've beaten them the first time around or learning their moveset, but I fought Soul of Cinder 52 fucking times in a row and each time I only got worse. I've fought hard final bosses, just fighting God, Child of Alessa (Silent Hill 3) on Normal mode is hard. But I at least improved with time in other fights. This boss is god damn near fucking impossible. Even my friend Nickolas, who had beaten Demon's Souls and Dark Souls I twice, and played through half of Dark Souls II. He who had beaten Prince Lothric in 2 tries, literally tried 60 times and got no where. It took him 2 days to beat it.

    Enough said.

Phew, I guess I'd go with Manus from the Dark Souls DLC. I couldn't find the damn summon sign for Sif and I sucked at using the silver pendant to repel his magic attacks. I don't know how many tries I had, surely somewhere close to 30. I beat Artorias solo on my 5th or 6th try. But I love the damn bossfight itself, Manus is a blast to defeat. He's so aggressive and fast, you'd think you were playing Bloodborne. And his design is just... mmph. My all time favorite bossfight.

  • I thought the game was alright. But the story and characters aren't anything to write home about.

Wait! I just remembered I have a PTSD from the Kalameet bossfight. That one was very frustrating for me. Epic, but frustrating beyond measure.

And what is the reward for defeating this enormous, black, hard dragon? A ring that makes you take double damage from everything. Thank you, Dark Souls!

  • Gwyn, Lord of Cinder from Dark Souls. I had no idea you can parry him... I had to git gud for so long.

  • Final Fantasy 7 Sephiroth boss fight.

Dragon age Origins . Final fight.

  • Holy fuck that thing is awesome, shit dude how much does the Dark Souls DLC cost, I'd like to have that shit.

  • Really? For me, Kiln of the First Flame and Gwyn was the easiest part of the game. Considering I had died 96 times to the Four Kings prior to this area, it kind of surprised me how smoothly I got through. Now, my sword did 550+ damage with an added 300 due to my level, so that might have been it, but still, I'd say Gwyn is one of the easier fights. I guess everyone has a different experience though.

  • Scratch my last post, Soul of Cinder is not the hardest boss fight for me. The fucking Four Kings are. I died 96 times to it before finally defeating it, it was nothing but pain and misery. I had an easier time with the Bed of Chaos, a boss that Soulsborne fans constantly call the most unforgiving and fucking stupid.

  • 15 $ i think.

Holy fuck that thing is awesome, shit dude how much does the Dark Souls DLC cost, I'd like to have that shit.

  • Is it as huge as Dark Souls II's DLC or is it just one new area and a few extra bosses that are bullshit and unfair?

  • Its about as big as two DS2 dlcs. The bosses are some of my favorites from DS1. Its really good.

  • I don't know if it counts as a FINAL boss, but it is definitely the last boss you'll fight in the game(considering the requirements). But it IS an optional boss fight. If this doesn't fit within the requirements of the thread, just tell me and I'll change it.

Anyway, the lingering will from Kingdom Hearts 2. Here's a rage video that will express how I feel about it.

    2. Vergil-Devil May Cry 3
    3. Nemesis-Resident Evil 3
    4.Eve- Parasite Eve
    5. Sephiroth - Kingdom Hearts

  • Okay, I don't expect anyone to know what this game is but I'll say it anyway..
Dark Yabu from Vexx is the hardest final boss that I can remember, It took me months of playing it (I played it maybe once every... month)
But that was a few years ago, it might not be as hard as I remember. But that whole game was really hard.

  • I think Dr. Nefarious (UYA) and Percival Tachyon (TOD) from R&C series for me. The amount of rage these two gave me were beyond excruciating. When I finally beat them for the first time... I was so happy.

Also the last 3 boss battles in Paper Mario TTYD was also a nightmare.

I suck with all boss battles, but here's a few that I REALLY sucked at.

Undertale's Sans took me way too fucking long to defeat. Probably because I didn't have the snowballs and a few other items that help.

And Dragon Age Origin's final boss battle was extremely hard for me because I was in a harder difficulty mode and underleveled. I managed to beat it by using a pretend to be dead ability and pass out near the final ballista.

  • Yeah that bastard is really tough (and fast) on death march, however I was able to beat him on my first try but it took me around 12 minutes!

Imlerith on Death March on Witcher 3.... Fuck. That.

  • The Indian cowboy fucker in Dead Rising.

  • It's really not that extensive, and it's ridiculously difficult to access in game without looking up how to do it (which you should if you buy it). I did enjoy it though, back when I went through it. The bosses are definitely the best part, and are among the better boss fights in any of the three games. Manus can be extremely difficult depending on how you play the game.

Is it as huge as Dark Souls II's DLC or is it just one new area and a few extra bosses that are bullshit and unfair?

I agree with this. Manus didn't really have any weaknesses, so it was really difficult to find a way to beat him. He hit like a truck, had ridiculous reach, had a lot of stamina, was extremely aggressive and quick, had a ton of health, was fairly unpredictable, and best of all starts doing nearly one hit kill magic attacks once you get to the point that you're doing significant damage to him. Good times. The only way to downplay the challenge is to come into the fight with a really good shield that has 100% damage protection and high stability. Finding the pendant that nullifies his magic is obviously extremely handy as well, but I felt really lame using it the only time that I did.

If someone goes into the fight without a really good shield and instead relies upon dodging.. good luck, have fun.

Phew, I guess I'd go with Manus from the Dark Souls DLC. I couldn't find the damn summon sign for Sif and I sucked at using the silver penda

  • That fucking asshole alien thing in Beyond: Good and Evil.

The boss itself isn't bad, but any game that is sadistic enough to unavoidably reverse the control scheme for a large portion of the boss fight while trying to dodge, attack, and generally stay alive can suck a can of assorted filth and scum.

To add insult to injury, the ending was the pissest of poor.
