Gamespot Interviews Job S. about Telltale - talks BATMAN, Marvel, Wolf's ending, and more

Gamespot recently interviewed Job Stauffer at Gamescom. They talk about why Telltale uses the same gameplay for each title and why they use live development, as well as talking about some of their current and previous games (including a question on Wolf's ending). They also talk about when to expect news on Marvel.
Here are a couple questions from around the middle of the interview:
You're one of the few studios in games that is capable of working with Marvel and DC at the same time, as well as a whole bunch of other beloved franchises. Is it you going to these companies and pitching ideas or are they coming to you? I imagine at this point people are like, "We need a Telltale game for this franchise."
That's flattering, but it is absolutely a case-by-case basis. It depends on the project. In the case of Tales from the Borderlands, that was really just a matter of us being old friends with a lot of the guys at Gearbox and having way too much tequila one night at a party. The next thing we knew we agreed to do this game. We're very glad we did. It's one of the games we're proudest of. In cases like Batman and Wolf Among Us, we have this incredible relationship with DC and Warner Brothers. With Wolf, it just turned out really, really well. We had this story that we wanted to do that was much more Bruce Wayne's story than it was a Batman story, and just diving into Bruce's psyche. That worked out quite well. It's a mix; there's never one definitive way. Right now, there are a lot of projects coming in our direction. We have to be very selective.
Is The Wolf Among Us coming back? When are we going to hear about season two?
We're asked that on a regular basis ever since that series concluded in 2014. We're so very proud of it. We've not announced a second season.
You ended on a bit of a cliffhanger though.
We never got to say anything about [the ending]. There's a definitive answer to what was happening. We know what that answer is. But we'd never want to spoil the fun and try to tell everyone what to think. We've seen a lot of different theories and interpretations. One of them is correct. We'll never say what it is. Our lips are sealed.
The other big project obviously is the Marvel thing. When are we going to hear about it more?
We'll be able to talk more about it later this year, but it won't be kicking off until '17.
Comments
Well the Wolf news should keep people a ᵗᶦᶰʸ bit quieter since we at least know there's no plans currently for a Season 2. Also if Marvels not getting announced till later this year I definitely think they'll be announcing Super show news at PAX.
Good read, I found it funny when Job had to pause when talking about Batman's technical issues.
Talking about the Marvel game later this year is reinforcing my thoughts on Game Awards.
I'm sort of content he admits the issues, even though he said it like the issues weren't big and were "minor inconveniences".
I'm with you. We need news about their Super show, (we haven't heard much for a while...) so now is a good time for it. Then, Marvel at the Game Awards..
Ib4 Condiment King turns out to be the true villain of the Batman series.
we've been found out! scurries away to warn writing team
Wait, come back! I want answers on Wolf's ending dammit!
You can't handle the truth!
BUT CAN I STILL USE "THE ERASER"???
I have a feeling it'll take the apocalypse for telltale to even give us a SLIGHT hint in the right direction about Wolf's ending and what was going on in it.
Ha! Telltale hasnt announced Wolf Among Us Season 2, but they didnt say they arnt developing it!
You cant explain that Telltale
I mean, lets take a closer look at that mirror...
ʸᵒᵘ ᶜᵃᶰ'ᵗ ʰᶦᵈᵉ ᵗʰᵉ ᵗʳᵘᵗʰ ᵀᵉᶫᶫᵗᵃᶫᵉ
spookos
Minor quirks?! I have the game installed on two computers, one doesn't even start because of some unknown error and on the other the game runs at 15 FPS!
What crap will we have to endure when TWD launches, I have no idea...
He's a PR guy, and he's gotta say everything he can to hype things up even if he has to twist some things around. Otherwise he'd be getting shit from the higher ups if he was completely honest.
I just hope TWD S3 won't have similar issues.
I read your comment before I read the interview. At first I thought you edited in the second half to make it more dramatic but now that I see it was actually in the interview... that made me feel awkward.
I hate Telltale.....until TWD S3 comes out.
I didn't realize a 7/10 episode (in your opinion) equals hating a company for a certain period of time.
Why exactly does he hate it?
I do love the Penny Plunderer.
Fun fact!
Did you know that the Penny Plunderer is ACTUALLY who Batman got the giant penny in the Batcave from? It was later attributed to Two-Face because Batman comics editorial/writers (in the 70s I think?) deemed the Penny Plunderer far far too lame to get an artifact in the Batcave, but that giant penny is a rad image.
It is. It was cool to see the Giant Penny in the concept art too, it must appear!
Oh god, maybe it's a Magic Mirror? Hehe, Magic Mirror, get it? Nevermind, I'll throw myself down the Witching Well...
Mirror Mirror, if your able
Give me season 2 to keep me stable.
For some reason I thought the recent comments he made about TWAU would connect with people and they would realize I was talking about that. Next time I will be more specific as to not confuse you and others.
