Fallout 4 and Skyrim: Special Edition apparently aren't getting mods on PS4

  • What do you expect? Sony has had major problems with modding/hacking. Allowing 3rd party material to be downloaded even from a "Game Developer's" private source isn't very secure. Heck modding/hacking literally murdered the PSP in the USA sales wise. People bought a PSP then never bought games for it. Just the very "Word" of modding would be enough to make Sony likely twitch regardless how secure it likely would be.

  • Well, that sucks.

  • I'm pissed off to the maximum.

  • As a PS4 owner, I am disappointed. I can hope that this might change. Alas, I shan't hold my breath.

  • Really Sony after the disappointing ps4 pro and then blocking mods!!! Get a grip SONY!

  • I love how Sony is getting some hate the last week. It makes from a nice change of where everyone usually crap on xbox.

Anyways as an Xbox owner I'm excited for the skyrim remaster and to get some mods.

  • I made a Facebook post about this and my brother (who has some idea of software design) explained to me that Sony would be making their systems vulnerable to modification if they allowed mods. According to him, it's less risky for Microsoft to do this because they've been allowing mods on Windows games for years, so they have better experience.

Still, Sony's decision is going to make the Xbox One a lot more appealing to people who want mods, especially if more developers start doing what Bethesda's doing.

Don't worry PS3 owners got more flak than Hillary Clinton's Email Scandal for years, mostly undeserved which was what made it so irritating. Xbox One's flak is well deserved, pay back is bitter sweet, even though I Honestly don't care about consoles anymore. Last gen did not impress me one bit on consoles, this gen on consoles seems to be much of the same so, PC I found plenty of games I enjoyed.

I always told people, still tell actually. For the PS3 to be competitive it had to continuously down grade it's hardware. For the XBox 360 to be competitive when the PS3 started gaining sales and a larger market, it had to continuously upgrade it's hardware. PS3 was just too ahead of it's time, and honestly had more bells/whistles than it needed. They wanted to make it as useful as a personal PC but it never quite got that far, but still had all the hardware necessary to be one, it was also considerably more PC hardware compatible, any USB headset, keyboard, USB card, etc for PC worked on it without any problems, heck I plugged in a Logitech Joystick and it worked on the PS3, I put in my Logitech controller and it worked. lol

That being said, it's a tragedy that the Xbox 360 did so well. I honestly believe it almost single handed, destroyed the console industry and my love for console gaming. The type of games that were insanely popular on it, ended up dominating the market, pushing almost entire game genres on console into extinction. Not just the games, but man the gamers that came with last gen just burned my soul.

I love how Sony is getting some hate the last week. It makes from a nice change of where everyone usually crap on xbox. Anyways as an Xbox owner I'm excited for the skyrim remaster and to get some mods.

I doubt it though. Modding even on PC is not widely accepted by Triple A Studios. A vast majority of studios who focus on console games do not support mods, nor do they care. Some like EA even make it difficult to mod their games. Some companies make it illegal to mod their games. Rockstar for example is very hostile towards modding. Pretty much starting with the San Andreas Hot Coffee Scandal though. Modders cost Rockstar lots of money, lots of legal battles, had San Andreas literally pulled from the shelves for months... all because of modders. GTA SA later versions of the game were very difficult to mod, users had to downgrade the PC version to an earlier version to make mods work well. GTA IV Rockstar constantly early on tried to make modding difficult but eventually modders got around it as well. GTA V Rockstar says "We don't care, mod it, just don't use mods online or we will ban you." lol

Don't know why they even bothered promising a feature without knowing wether or not they had Sony's approval. Well, sucks for those that have Fallout 4 on PS4 and don't have/ plan on buying an XBoner. As for me, well I don't give a shit about a publisher that drives studios working on games for them to bankrupcy, and then buy them for pennies.
