1h of game? Seriously?
OK. So, when Batman was announced, I was hyped through the roofs. I waited, checked the news, pre-ordered... I was never so disapointed with Telltale.
Don't get me wrong. The history of the game itself is very good, and got me kinda hooked (which is the point of Telltale games since TWD). But you are giving us 1h per episode. That is not right.
In the First Season of TWD, we took 2h or 2h and a half to complete the episodes. Besides all the history, much longer than Batman's, we have the hub areas and the possibility to TALK with other characters, learn more about them. Interact. WE DON'T GET THAT OPTION HERE.
Please, Telltale. I'm a loyal client, so is everyone here, I'm sure. Give us a good game worth our money. Cuz 1h per episode, it should have beem 15 dollars or less, not 22 (the price I paid at the pre-order). TWD is way more worth it, since have a 10h gameplay through all the episodes. I feel we will have 6h at this one.
Some of you, members, agree with me?
And, to Telltale, I'm a big fan.. Don't make me never trust this company again. If Batman actually have 6h, perhaps 7h of gameplay, I will never pre-order a Telltale game ever again. I will wait untill reviews, comments at this community and probably not buy it. (If I had done this with the Batman game, I would never buy it, since the feedback is kinda thrash).
"WAAAAIT, YOUR GRAMMAR IS INCORRECT THERE AND THERE" Yeah? Let's try talking in my native language. Sorry if I'm not a pro english speaker.

Mhmm. Very interesting. Good thread. Its like I warped back too 2014. You really got that nostalgic flavor of people whining about how short wolf and season 2's episodes were. Who gives a shit if the episode is paced well. If its not 120 minutes or more its absolute garbage. Yessir!
At least you can play it, I'm still waiting because I got screwed over for buying the physical season pass on the xbox one
That's what I called being screwed. If at least was worth it... Sorry bro. Or sis. Don't know.
I can feel the irony. But yeah, it's complete garbage. And TWAU wasn't 1h long.
If they are going to make a 1h gameplay per episode, they should at least charge less. If you think that is whining and have money to spend and shower on it, that's your business.
And I'm assuming you didn't read the "hub area" part.
I completely disagree. You should never judge a game by it's length. And I think it's well worth the money.
They only get about a mouth and a few weeks to do each episode, plus their working on other projects at the same time. It's understandable that the episodes are around an hour long. Also, come to think of it those hub areas were the only reason TWD did reach about 2 hours long, and IMO they just dragged the entire story down. I rather have a fast pace story while getting to the point, than have multiple hub area that had little to offer in them and didn't add to the overall story. Sure you can speak to characters, but did those characters actually have anything interesting to say other than how they feel about what was going on? Most of the time, no. Looking back at TWD the best times I had with it was when I was in action, actually doing something that pertain to the story at hand.
Wait, are you talking about episode 2?
Cause I played episode 1 on the 360... And even with the cut content, the episode was longer than 2 hours.
Heck, even the loading screens were shorter than TFTB.
Wolf ep 4 and 5 were just as long as batman. Ep 2
Yes, Episode 2 is around 80 minutes long.
I don't really mind shorter episodes as long as they're still great. And Episode 2 was amazing.
This type of thread again.
Also both episode 1 and 2 of batman are more than an hour long ( ep 1= 2hrs, ep2=95mins)
That's being pretty generous. It's been a while since I played Ep 1, but Ep2 is barely more than an hour long. I was done in 70 minutes and I let every talk option nearly run out and examined everything but the Codex, and even read some of the newspaper stuff.
I got 82 minutes from looking at EVERYTHING, but I still really enjoyed it. Pacing can do you wonders.
DEAL WITH IT
It takes much longer than that to make an episode - however, they have different teams (art, programming, animation, writing, etc) working on different episodes within the Season. For recent Telltale series starting with Wolf/Walking Dead Season 2 onward, releases started to take longer because Telltale started to heavily prioritize revising lots of parts of an episode due to fan feedback, after they saw that the live revisions made during Season 1 of Walking Dead seemed to make people like the game more.
Longer episode waiting periods after Walking Dead Season 1 have absolutely nothing to do with Telltale working on more than one game at once, which is a very common misconception that newer Telltale fans have.
Writers plan the story for earlier episodes, and then as the writers move onto later episodes, other teams for stuff like art move in. The more technical stuff like programming is the last to come, and the different teams basically cycle themselves. I know about this from reading various articles/interviews/etc about Telltale over the years where they describe their process.
I think the lenght of a game should be clearer stated by developers (even though that of course can be hard considering people play it differently). The best example of a game that I can think of with the shortest-lenght-to-good-game ratio is Portal 1. It a great game, but I'm glad that I knew how short it was before buying it.
I don't think some of you understand. The history is good, the graphics, one of the best of Telltale. It got me hooked, I asure you.
BUT, the game don't the "Telltale touch", in my opinion. Solving a problem through a "puzzle" or talking to someone. The hub areas where you could explore and get to know eve more the characters. That is what I miss. The short episode is a consequence to the lack of "Telltale touch".
Episode 1 I finished around 90m. Episode 2, around 70, 65 maybe.
That's my opinion, if you respect or not... That's your thing.
It was a good episode, in the history point of view. You're right.
But not in the "Telltale" point of view (at least, my vision of Telltale). Where is the puzzle solving? The hub areas where you could explore and talk to others? The puzzle solving through talking with someone?
That's my point. Of course, it's a Batman game. I get it he can solve "everything" by himself. But, I don't know.
Might just be me but Episode 2 took about 2 hours after doing everything I could.
That's definitely you. I read every article, codex entry, and clicked every clickable and I got about 82 minutes, but I also skipped the previously on my second time through when I restarted, so that's probably like 85 minutes. If you meant episode 1 I would totally believe you though.
I don't like... Wanna come off as racist or offensive or anything, I just wanna know if I guessed right.
Are you French? I just wanna know if you are.
lol
Nope.
Well boy do I have egg on my face.
It took me around two hours to complete the second episode on the first playthrough. I had a good time. 20bux for five episodes of a game that explores what it's like to be the Batman even better than the Arkham games, when most full-priced AAA games are almost $100 (when you include the DLC, but still >$65 without the DLC) and production costs just keep rising while salaries and buying power of the dollar keep sinking, seems like a pretty excellent deal to me.
Took me the same amount of time, as well.
HOW? What could have you possibly done to get an extra 40 minutes out of the episode?
((Double post, sorry.))
Maybe, he spend some times reading the codex, reading newspapers, taking good times walking around in the bar hub, listening to the news and thinking about how to fight the criminals?
I don't know, how else he could possibly get 40 extra minutes.
Length does not equal quality. This episode may have been a bit short, but the plot and characters were done well, and I found the episode very enjoyable.
I think the logical reason it's shorter is that we have a 'core choice' which branches the game out into two options - seeing Hill as Wayne or as Batman. Both of those have to be developed and created, even if you don't see them both in one playthrough.
Kinda make sense.
I read everything, listened to the dialogue before I made my choices, clicked everything that was clickable, explored whatever I could, and basically didn't go around just pushing buttons everywhere before I heard the dialogue.
Lol you are getting ripped off you pay the same price for less content
