How do You Feel About Your Native Country?

Are you a patriot, or just have affection for your country? Do you hate it? Explain why if you feel like it.

Personally, I love my country, Canada. I do think it is one of the greatest nations in the world. Though it is not perfect, and I do have issues with our Prime Minister, the SJW General Justin Trudeau. All that aside, it's a land that is beautiful throughout, and with a very complicated and unique history. My favourite thing about Canada is our freedom and safety. Though we are not quite on par with America in that regard, there are many freedoms Canadians have that many countries are lacking. So yes, I have my quarrels with my country but it is overall a great country to live in.

    Canada. It's okay. I'm in Alberta and we keep shooting ourselves in the feet. Yay, we raised the minimum wage again and will do so yet again next year. Because that solves problems. Now the cost of living is going to go through the roof in what is already not the cheapest province to live in. The country and province are fine though... if you stick to the major cities. Backwoods Canada isn't far from Trailer Park USA. I guess that depends on your views whether that's good or bad.

    Overall, I like it and probably won't leave. I would argue that we are more free and safe than America though. I can't knock us for that.

  • I do not hate England, in fact I quite like it, therefore I am a hardcore nationalist because that's how that works. It's not perfect, of course (certainly there are many, many things I would change) but as countries go, you could do far worse.

  • Australia's a cool place to live, and I love the city I live in right now even though it pisses me off at times. I'm quite passionate about our history as well, no we were not just one giant penal colony, FYI.

    Next year I want to go and do some traveling, a big road trip, but I doubt it'll happen, though I remain optimistic.

    I may not agree to everything our government does though. It seems to get more conservative and the power of religion is increasing which really sucks.

  • Ireland's the finest, to be honest. It's a decent place to live and I can't fault it all to much, as I am quite proud of our history and do feel a sense of patriotism from time to time.

    Really, the only thing I could fault Ireland for heavily is it's politics and the god awful parties that get elected, added on with the increasing crime rates and the homeless issue, and maybe, the fact we have a godshite for a leader, high levels of alcoholism, corruption within local councils, GAA, horrible weather, and even worse people... But hey, no place is perfect.

    I love my country: the landscapes, the communities, the people. America is an absolutely huge, beautiful country, with a rich history and traditions that make it unique. The land itself is very rich, despite much of that wealth being hoarded and squandered

    I despise the state and the so-called "nation". Particularly the injustices, theft and violence carried out in its name, both past and present. I oppose the economic system , where the sweeping ideals of American democracy and self-ownership go right out the window the second I clock in at work. Not a big fan of the soulless suburbs and strip malls either.

    I think the former can exist without the latter and that it's something worth striving toward. I think people who whine about leaving if "this person" or "that person" wins "the election" are either liars or cowards.

    Every government is run by men, and men are imperfect. Thus every government will be imperfect. There is no such thing as a perfect government, and there never will be.

    I'm grateful for the freedoms we have here. And that they're based on the idea that God has given man certain rights.

    As Thomas Jefferson wrote when he penned the draft for the Declaration of Independence:

    "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness."

    I think Spencer Tracy said it best at the end of the movie "Judgement at Nuremberg" when he said:
