I was actually thinking Grand Theft Auto San Andreas when I watched the trailer honestly. Seems to have a similar starting plot to the story, just different starting antagonist. I hope the protagonist is actually good, unlike Rockstar's horribly bad stereotype African American characters. Even Franklin on GTA V honestly was the least interesting of the playable characters, didn't even play a major part but a "Side Kick" role in the game.

Textures are pretty low resolution. That's true. Not terrible, but… more they look a generation old. It is very noticeable with vehicles and foliage.
Lighting, shadow, bloom all look fine to me. So that one is definitely on the game. I'm hoping it's something they fix. I highly doubt they designed certain vehicles to have a total of 2 colors on the bumpers. They could have dialed a few settings back for launch to nip the "game doesn't even play" reviews which inevitably come. I'm hoping anyway. It doesn't effect the game for me, but it shouldn't be an issue for a modern triple A title.
I'm not noticing the massive framerate drops, but I did see a few lost frames. It does look like there is an issue there too.
All in all, I find the game easily in the "playable" realm. It's not on par with GTA5, but it's fine. It needs some fixing though. The vehicle texture… [view original content]
First off, Nvidia program isn't working? You mean Geforce Experience?
Second, Min requirements is a GTX 660. A GTX970M (M key thing to note) is not even as good as a GTX 670, and only a tad better in specific ways than a 660 but you will get similar performance to a 660 on games. You shouldn't be playing this game on anything but lower settings. Even then performance may not be great.
GTX970m as I said isn't anything like a GTX970 which I have. GTX970m despite being advanced, performance wise is as I said less than a desktop GPU like a 670. Nvidia M cards are often a few generations behind in performance, but they're small/compact so they can fit into laptops. It is technologically more advanced than a 670, heck a 780, just not as powerful because a full size GPU wouldn't fit in a laptop without over heating and bursting into a ball of fire.
Min requirements for this game is a 660. The GTX970m is literally on par with a GTX660 Desktop GPU, minus things like Directx 11 support, which a 970m I'd assume would have.
I'd keep an eye out for Nvidia Driver Updates. They may make one specifically for this game to boost performance. Nvidia does that sometimes. Until then, I'd hold off playing it, because reading the comment section on Steam, even people with good Desktop Computers are having Sketchy performance. May take a while for the Devs or even Players to find a solution to the problem.
This new update ruined my game. My game was perfect before this new update and now it runs SUPER slow. The framerate is terrible. I have it … moreon 30 or 60 fps and it dosen't change anything. The graphics look worse even with my display settings on high. I went on the Steam forums and it was working fine for some people but most people had problems with the fps. I have GTX 970M but my nvidia program isn't working and I don't know my GPU. Anyone in here know how to fix this? If not, 2k NEEDS to fix this.

Everytime I open it up it shows nothing at all. I wait and it doesn't load the supported games. It worked fine before but now it just won't show my supported games. Because of that I can't optimize games like Mafia 3.

The skybox is beyond me. They are packaged in an SDS file and the current tool doesn't work for Mafia 3. I'm not THAT good. I was sure they were in an .ini but I guess those were the weather audio memory allocation. I was mistaken.

It was never the "Best" even when it was born. It's just one of the higher end GPUs for Laptop computers, but Laptops have insanely minimal space meaning they will never compete with a Desktop PC. If they put a beast like a 780, 970, 980, 1070 or 1080 into a Laptop it would likely bake and die being they need heat sinks, and fans up the wazoo to keep them cool.
Hence Nvidia has the "M" style GPUs which are not really related much to the normal GTX variants. A GTX 970M is nothing compared to say a GTX 970, just compact, low energy, and low temperature so it will not.. well hopefully not blow up. Which sadly means they're also just no were near as powerful as their parents you can say. All the 970m means when compared to a 970 is likely just the technology and architecture. It's also why they have the 860m 870m and 880m but there are no GTX 860/870 and 880 for Desktop. The "M's" are an entirely different series of GPUs not really related to their Desktop counter parts much.
Not like any of that will help you, just thought I'd explain some information about Nvidia GPUs. Some people who are "new" to this sort of thing can get mixed up, they see 970m and they think it's a 970, and a 970 is very good as i already mentioned, not top dog but in the top 10-20% best GPUs on the market.
About Geforce Experience, it's often recommended to just "Ignore" it when it comes to it's optimization feature. It's kind of the "For Dumbies" tool. I'd suggest if you can get the game itself working, go into settings and "whittle" down everything to low, and gradually tweak some up, then test in game, tweak up again, test in game, until you start noticing performance hits. Might not be too long until some Optimization guides for the game come out which can be found googling without much difficulties normally. For Fallout 4 I found some settings I could turn down to low and save a butt load of Frames per Second with a minimal hit on visual appeal of the game for example, stuff I wouldn't of known if I didn't look up a guide. lol

This is what one steam user said about Mafia 3:
So the story is great but the gameplay is just bad. First off it's missing so many features from mafia 2 that made it great.
There is no fighting with civilians, instead of getting in a fist fight you basically slam them into the ground and then someone may call the cops.
The shops are not interactable (Makes the world seem dead)
There is barley any car customization compared to mafia 2
The police system is stripped down from mafia 2 to just a bubble system instead of the great system that had you cange your apperance or your cars apperance to get away. Also there is no star system anymore it's just shoot on sight.
The way the game progresses is much different instead of playing through chapters you will just roam the city and do tasks that lead up to a big mission. This is a great way to do things but in a game as story driven as this I think the chapter system in mafia 2 is much better.
There is no character customization
You run out of ammo in about 5 seconds
Removing perks of course they put in perks -_-
and there are a bunch more
The gameplay pretty much feels like far cry and in a mafia game it just doesnt work. Hanger 13 pretty much took the great series, grabed some triple a elements and shoved it up its
Basically the only reason I didn't return the game is I want to find out what happened to joe in mafia 2.
However the story is very good but could be presented much better.
In short hanger 13, 2K Czech should have developed the game because they did a great job with mafia 1 and 2 but then for some reason 2k decided to have hanger 13 messing it up.
I just realised what a bad year for gaming 2016 has been...
No Man's Sky: Flop
Deus Ex Mankind Divided: Flop
Bioshock Remaster (PC): Flop
Mafia III: Flop(?)
Quantum Break: Flop
On the other hand, the only successful game that I can think of is overwatch and we have 3 more AAA titles coming out within a month.
Dishonored 2: I feel like this one will be a hit
Battlefield 1: The beta was awesome and the single player campaign looks awesome, hit.
Watchdogs 2: The E3 trailer looked promising but after watching some gameplay, the destruction and physics are mediocre at best like the first game, although I really want this game to be good, from what we've seen so far I feel like it's going to be a flop.

I bought it. I have to say it's pretty fun. I know why some may have problems with it, especially if you compare it to Mafia 1 or 2; it's lacking. But it's still fun, very repetitive, but fun. I even bought the season pass, because some of the DLC looks promising. I don't think graphics are a huge deal. If a game has a great story and good gameplay I'm sold. And I think Mafia 3 nailed both of those.
Hey, we still have Stardew Valley, Best Quality game since 1998.
To be honest, I think BF1 is horrible. Better WWI themed games out there currently, before it even came out.
You will. They announced on their website(which is overshadowed by game issues) that appearance options will be available in a future update(free). There's no said reason why they're waiting though(so game screenshots are easily distinguishable?).

What about Uncharted 4? That game was golden imo
