Final Fantasy XV Review

Colossal waste of time.

Blueballs of nothing

Lol ok not the best source of reviews...but strangely matching some early take a ways on respectable sites.

  • Yeah, a truly legit review that totally won't be used by sites to get lots of dem clicks. -_-

  • I will say...would it kill Square/Enix to pony up for real voice actors instead of combing the back alleys of L.A. for drunks willing to work for a bottle of mad dog?

  • If you hate the dub just watch/play it in Japanese. No need to insult the cast.

Yep, these sure do look like a bunch of drunks :/

Matt Mercer and Kari Wahlgren especially are back alley hobos.

  • Why...they make a fuckton of money off of these games...yet the voice overs are like from early 2000...the actors sound bored....this is unacceptable in a modern AAA game. An boy oh boy...cannot wait for Final Fantasy XV-2 and -3. Maybe I am spoiled by the Voice Actors in TellTalegames...or Warner Brothers...or Bioware...or Kojima production...Bethesda.

The point is...when you are making a game with a budget that could buy TellTalegames twice...you probably should not skimp on voice overs.

If you hate the dub just watch/play it in Japanese. No need to insult the cast.

  • Hold RT to push car...sounds like fun. Can't wait to play this game.

  • Well, of course this review isn't valid. :P

Still though, pretty sure I'll enjoy pushing that car more than playing Final Fantasy XIII again.

  • Have you heard the main character and his pals?

  • lol conan is hilarious. just a bit worrisome cuz conan usually likes all games that he "plays" in the show. but of course no one reviewer should influence your opinion on a game.

while im not gonna buy it, havent played one since X and X-2 still like to see the series succeed and since it does look beautiful i might get it later, but it is a bit kinda worrisome because of what that aaron said, 3 actual days to beat a boss.. wtf?

  • Anyone else keep getting the counting down days advert on their youtube videos?

  • Noctis has somewhat grown on me since Episode Duscae, though I still give a nod to his japanse voice. Gladio and Ignis... yeah... Ignis sounds like an american actor trying to do an english accent, in spite of the fact that he's actually english. And Gladio, his actor sounds like he has to try really hard to sound tough. Prompto sounds fine in the dub, imo, and mostly close to how he sounds in the original dub.

Cor sounds fine, but I aleeady expect that from Matt Mercer, Ardyn's VA, Darin De Paul sounds like he has a great time voicing him, and Luna's english voice is better imo.

My problem with FF13 is the repetitive gameplay. The combat is automatic and you are basically just watching them fight. There isn't strategy or tactics like in the older games.

As for the story, you will be very confused in the beginning. The story starts in the middle and the plot will gradually unfold as the story goes. Still, if you want to understand the setting of the world, you basically have to start reading the codex/datalogs. None of it is explained or not explained very well during the gameplay.

That is only the first game and from what I have read about the sequels, the first game is the least confusing one.

Was thinking of buying ff13...all three...are they really bad?

  • ff13 is good, ff13-2 is passable, ff13 lightning returns is pretty decent and has the best combat in the trilogy. Imo at least.

Was thinking of buying ff13...all three...are they really bad?

  • Dave already said quite a few of the criticisms I had with the game, the repetition was one thing and it really felt like they just wanted to have a very convoluted plot for the sake of having this massive lore surrounding everything, I remember scratching my head at times and having to look up what specific things meant far too often.

I never played the sequels and from what I heard they convoluted things even more with time travel and the like. I wasn't impressed with XIII at all and didn't even bother to touch the sequels.

There's several better games in the series, if you're looking for a good story play VI, VII or IX. They're my top 3 favourites.

  • Hated VII...May try VIII

  • And I hated VIII and loved VII. :P VIII was just a pure mess in every single aspect for me except for having a good card game and an amazing soundtrack.

  • While I still love VII, over the year, I feel more drawn to IX these days. :)

I feel deeply ashamed to admit that I never completed any of the Final Fantasy games...But what can I do, I was kid who could barely read English.

  • The sad fact is...that since VI...no FF has measured up...sad to think the amazing days are over.

  • Ha! I'm actually the exact same as of late! I just love IX, has my favourite cast of any FF game and is surprisingly funny too.

  • Wouldn't go that far now. :P I don't hold VI in such high regard as other fans do, despite the fact it's my second favourite only behind IX.
