Sounds like they gutted a lot of stuff that made the other games iconic. However I'm still interested, as it's a series I had a lot of fun with. I guess I'll just wait till everything is out and then check it out myself. Currently playing DR3 now.
I was honestly a little surprised to see that a forth game is being made after how the third ended in the S-ending.
But, I am excited for it, I'm glad that we'll be playing as Frank West again, and for the first time it's Christmas themed. Deck the halls with guts and glory, boys and girls.
Well, I guess I'll be the first guy to say that I don't like the direction they're taking DR4 in... at all
The first two were great, the third made some changes I didn't fully agree with, but still felt like it stayed true to Dead Rising for the most part
But from what I've seen of 4 so far? It just looks like a clusterfuck, in all honesty. And furthermore, I'm one of the people that does not agree with the choice to redesign and recast Frank. They can give all the reasons they want, but I still don't buy any of them. It feels like some movie reboot where all the advertisements are all like "Look who's back!", except that they recasted him as Jimmy McWhoeverTheFuck and practically gave the character a completely different look. Bullshit that's the same guy. Might as well have just called the guy in DR4 Hank East and acted like he's Frank's estranged cousin or some shit
Other than that, it looks like they're homogenizing a lot of the unique elements that made DR a memorable game, even if some of the quirks were criticized; the time limit, the psychopaths, survivor escorts, emphasis on using everyday items as weapons more than just crafting... It doesn't really look like a step forward for the series, as much as I hate to say it.
Of course, that's just me. I'm just not impressed with what I've seen so far, but I'm still trying to keep an open mind. But I can't lie; it's getting harder and harder to do that the more I see of it.
Yeah, this game might be taking a really bad turn that will leave fans utterly dissapointed. Shame to see it die a shadow of its former self judging by the news.

It looks like the best game Capcom has made and ever will make.
