Anyone reading any web comics?

The one I'm currently reading is Wilde Life

It launched on September 29th, 2014 and is written and illustrated by Pascalle Lepas and he has created nearly 300 colorful pages and counting. Wilde Life is a supernatural adventure/horror series set in a small town in rural Oklahoma. It focuses on stories about creatures from Native American mythology as witnessed and documented by a journalist from Chicago, Illinois. Kinda has a Fables/TWAU feel to it, so if you were a fan of those you may like this! http://www.wildelifecomic.com/about

  • I got super into "Fanboys" a webcomic with a group of friends obsession with the console war, but eventually grows into a bit more of a relationship driven series with some pretty touching plot lines, its like if Ctrl + Alt + Del was good. Its a shame the artists just sort of stopped, but I enjoyed what I read even though more would have been always nice.

Brawl in the family is a hilarious gag series about smash characters doing regular stuff with King. Dedede being the lead.

And of course Penny Arcade, but I sort of stopped reading after the weird artstyle shift.

As for non game related comics...I got nothing. Didn't real try looking though.

  • Well, SPEAKING of webcomics...

Anyways, to answer your question, I am a fan of some. I find Cyanide & Happiness great for quick laughs. IMO they are both meme-y and clever!

  • I'm addicted to Check Please! by Ngozi Ukazu. It's about Southerner and former figure skater Eric "Bitty" Bittle going to a fictional liberal arts college in the northeast US to play on the school's hockey team. It has LGBT characters and it's absolutely amazing to see how her art has improved over time. The love story between Bitty and a member of his team (won't spoil it right here but it's fairly obvious who it is once you read the first few pages) is one of my favorites across all medias, not just webcomics. READ IT YALL

  • Is this what you mean by web comic?

Yeah, sorry. Is a web comic just a comic that you read online?

  • They are comics published on a website

  • Erma is really cute and well written comic and it's drawn in the style of Sunday newspaper comics. Pretty much it's about the daughter of the ghost woman from the Ring and a regular human guy. It follows her everyday life and has a lot of inspiration and references to horror movies and pop culture.

Another one that's pretty great is Camp Weedonwantcha. It's set in a summer camp filled with and run by kids who were abandoned by their families forever. For the most part it's very humourous but can be really dark at times along with some really sad and relatable moments. The comic mainly follows Malachi (a boy can be very arrogant and full of himself), Seventeen (a hyperactive and enthusiastic girl) and Brian (a very silent boy with a mysterious background).

Finally there's JL8. It's the characters from DC Comics but all the characters are in elementary school. It's cute and well written. Nothing much else to say except go read it!

  • Hey, you stole my idea!

  • Not a ton. I used to read Absolute Hot Sister until I realized that it was just one joke the entire series. (That and I realized that the writing was just kinda pandering to horny thirteen year old boys.) So it grew kinda stale after a while. I do read Cyanide and Happiness from time to time though. Because honestly, you can't go wrong with Cyanide and Happiness.

I'm actually currently writing a web comic series right now titled, 11th Hour. It takes place in a post apocalyptic future in which humanity has fallen and the earth is now populated by anthropomorphic animals and follows a young mouse drifter and her human pet as well as the last human on earth.

We're three issues in so far, but we have quite a bit planned. Check it out and lemme know what you think.

  • I read The Meek and Mare Internum, both drawn and written by the same author, Der-shing Helmer.

The Meek is told from three different character's perspective in different countries, while Mare Internum is a sci-fi drama told from one person's viewpoint.
