I'm guessing that Batman Episode 5 comes out on Dec 13th, since New Frontier Episode 1 comes out on the 20th. From what we saw in the Ep 4 thread, it looked like they had Episode 4 of Batman finished a little earlier in advance, so that probably means that they are that much further along in Ep 5.
insert clever comment about being the first comment in a waiting thread (aside from the cheating mod)
I hope we see the game on the 13th, otherwise it will probably not come out this year due to the Christmas holiday.
excuse me young man I didn't know when the thread was going up, so I didn't cheat either. [sticks out tongue]
It begins.
The wait for Episode 5 begins, which in turn marks the end of Batman Season 1. This game was over so fast.
So...
My hype for Ep5 is at flat zero after the terrible Episode 4. I can only hope they will give Selina Kyle's arc a worthy and satisfying ending. Oh, and I want to know how "personnal" the deal is between Vicki and Bruce.
Still loving my idea of Vicki being related to him in a way.
I seem to be one of the few here who actually liked ep. 4, so yay! Already hyped for the finale
I loved Episode 4 as well, though I can respect anyone who feels bummed that our attempts to save (You know Who) didn't seem to pan out.
Yeah, of course, I fully respect all opinions towards the episode. I can even agree with many of the complaints - the Harvey thing for example. If I would've constantly went out of my way in the earlier episodes to save Harvey and then just seen him become a ruthless villain anyway I would probably be pretty pissed too atm. This just wasn't an issue for me because with my choices Harvey becoming a villain feels natural.
On the opposite side Selina just leaving does not feel so natural with my choices, but it didn't bother me that much, because I can accept it as just her being true to her character.
All that said, episode 4 did feel pretty short, and it wasn't as good as 3.
I hate harvey now i used to like him we were best friends now i hate him.
At this point, I'm sorta glad I was one of the few people that told Selina to leave Gotham
All I got was a few cute text messages from her, which was good enough for me
I did that too, and whilst I was disappointed that she couldn't help when I asked her to I assume whatever she is doing is important, and she'll be back in Episode 5.
I wonder if Robin's gonna appear in the finale or are they saving him for the second season. I can already imagine a horde of outraged whiners who are going to complain about his skin color...
Why did you mention his skin color?
So the choice of offering to stay has consequences ? I have not been able to find a walkthrough that shows this, all I've seen show Selina running away when Bruce was clearly in need of help.
Will Selina return in episode 5? Her leaving abruptly bothered me. Hope she returns.
She has to, otherwise all the "she will remember this" in Ep3 make zero sense.
Because for some reason people don't like when you change a skin color of a pre-established character.
Those have never meant anything. Christa and Omid, for example, also "remembered" shit before their respective deaths/disappearance. But still, I agree that Catwoman will most likely be back in Episode 5.
No I can't imagine all of this having no sort of consequence. Telltale are testing our faith in Selina, and in Episode 5 we might or might not be rewarded.
I assume she'll get intro trouble trying to help us and we will have to save her ass. Telltale clearly set her on a redemption course in Ep3 when you got close to her emotionally "you are more than a thief".
She's out of Gotham (I presume she was not just leaving the manor), for now.
Surprisingly, yeah, it does. Instead of the scene in the manor, you have a little text chat with her while you're in the car before Harvey calls.
I think like saving Selina in Episode 2, you get an extra physical scene with her at Wayne Manor if you offer her a place there, but she still needs to leave for... reasons?
Annoying since it would have made a great aspect for Harvey attacking Wayne Manor if she could help out whilst I dealt with Penguin, or vice versa (actually that's what I would go with... Penguin wouldn't be expecting Catwoman to be attacking him instead of Batman, her tech would work fine, and if she was at Wayne Manor it might tick Harvey off more after she had ditched him.)
It's pretty obvious she'll be coming back, especially since they made it a lot like how Jane left...
I don't think there's any reason to assume the kid is destined to become Robin just because his adopted parents died in sad circumstances. Though given his name was never revealed I suppose they might suddenly realise it's Dick, Tim, Jason, Damian or... I dunno, what's the name of the current black kid who isn't Robin but something else?
I'm not sure she will be back. They basically tossed her out, and she no longer has any relation to the plot. Maybe they would bring her back for a Season 2, but they wouldnt do this and not leave a proper hint as to what she might be doing.
Pretty sure Selina is gone and out.
I trust enough in the writers that if they wanted to write Selina out of the story at this point they would've given her a more impactful last scene. Now it was just "meh, gotta go, see ya".
They still haven't managed to give us any reason why Vicki Vale is Batman-level capable in martial arts, with access to similar levels of technology. Unless episode 5 drags on for three hours, I don't think they're going to finish the job.
The writers right now feel a lot like the writer's from Gotham. Good, but fumbling constantly.
Episode 4 was great.
True, but then again this was mostly a Harvey focused episode, only giving some small snippets on Lady Arkham's backstory. Though you've got a good point regarding the fact that there is only one episode left to wrap this all up. That said, I'm pretty sure the next episode will be all about Vicki, so we should get some explanation on how she has become what she is now. Can't tell if it will be a satisfying explanation or not, but we will get something. Why else would've we been given all this info about her past in this episode, if not for build up to finding out a more detailed version of her backstory in the next episode? Perhaps even told by Vicki herself.
What comes to Selina, it doesn't really take a lot of time to bring her back. I'm actually more worried about Oz being pushed to the sidelines. Can't say anything about the comparison to Gotham, haven't watched
Thing is we got information about her life ... that led us literally nowhere. She lost her parents? Okay. She was adopted? Okay, but then none of this connects us to the mass murdering psychopath she is now ... or why she decided to murder her parents in such a frenzy of violence and brutality. It just leaves more questions.
At this rate we'd need thirty minutes of Vicki monologue to get things straight.
Yeah, honestly that kinda strained my suspension of disbelief. I was hoping for a better explanation than just the implication that Gotham drives people to do batty things (pun not intended).
And that's why I can only assume that the info we got in this episode is merely build up for what we get in the finale. As I said though, it could indeed be that the explanation we get in the finale won't be satisfying, certainly not for all at least. Then again, do we really even need to go on details on how she learned martial arts? We haven't got such details on Batman himself either (in this story). Of course we need some kind of explanation, to convince us that Victoria Arkham growing up from an orphan girl to a super villain is plausible. However, personally I believe that a well written and executed scene could achieve that in five minutes or less.
So, I guess my point is just that I won't judge the writers for Lady Arkham's arc/backstory before I've seen all of it.
Thing is we can always fall back on prior comic material when it comes to Batman, the same for Gordon (and its why so many people don't bat an eyelash when Harvey goes Two-Face). With Vicki, she's so much more different, we need an explanation for a lot of what she can do. Its not so much about learning how she learned martial arts, but how she got to be so proficient she can go mano a mano with Batman.
My concern is just how much time that explanation might take up in the 80 minutes we get for the last episode.
You'll likely get a proper explanation in the finale when we confront her.
I'm hoping so, lol.
The reason why is that some see it as an act of following a trend to appeal to the pc crowd and get pc cred, instead of genuine artistic vision. Also its a case of some folks not liking change.
dp
Well they really don't have a choice. If they don't, that's a pretty major SNAFU. A villain without motivation or explanation would be kind of a bad villain.
Somehow Joker breaks that rule.
