Could the Vales a****** s** become a *****?
Thread: Could the Vales adopted son become a Robin?
I know this is probably a very out there theory, but hear me out. I'm thinking maybe in a season 2 or another time in the immediate future, the now orphaned Vale child could become the first(?)Robin. This thought came to me after picking the dialogue option "You need to be strong" after the kid finds his parents dead.
Here's what happens
Vale kid: Th-They're dead
Batman: Yes they are... but your not. You're still alive. Those emotions your feeling...someday you'll learn how to use them... to channel them. You might not understand it, but someday it will make you stronger.
Its ironic that Batman says to use the emotions, to channel them, which is exactly what he does after his parent's death. The other similarities being that he had now been orphaned by a killer who killed his parents. I don't know, I know it's an outlandish theory, but it's just something to cross my mind.
Let me know what you think!

Not everyone has played the episode yet, so I updated your title to make the spoilers more ambiguous. Also, with imgur.com uploads, you have to link to the direct image. Right click on the image, select "Open Image in New Tab", and then copy/paste that URL instead. I have fixed the image you tried to link to as an example.
As for the topic at hand, yeah - I was also thinking it was leading up to that as well. If they make a Season 2, or a DLC, it will be interesting to see how that plays out in future episodes.
Also you can tell him that he's "the kid who saved Batman" and that Batman owes him one so I pretty much figured he may be a potential Robin after seeing him in that 'hidden panel'.
I wouldn't really want a Robin though... doesn't seem to match the tone of the game tbh but hey Telltale may surprise me.
yeah the Vale house hurt me in the feels...one of my friends was in a super abusive foster home. Glad Vicki killed them.
There's no indication they were abusive though, none at all that I could find.
it is in some of the things that were done...Beating Mr. Vale to death with a belt....taking Mrs.Vale's eyes...Mrs Vale probably saw the abuse and never did anything. Also when Batman rescues the kid..he asks Batman if he was going to have to go to the punishment room?
I forgot that last part, but the punishment room could just be specific room for when he's grounded or something. Again, if its meant to imply abuse, it's still on the flimsy side. We would need a lot more evidence.
Makes me wonder if the kid was smiling in that photo too, come to think of it.
The way she killed them does not make any sense unless it was to get revenge for abuse...why use a belt? why take her eyes? She could have killed them easily with her skills. She wanted them to suffer...this was a personal murder scenario...they suffered.
I think we can establish Vicki/Lady Arkham has some mental issues, and whether they derive from her foster parents, or from something else isn't guaranteed. This is a woman trying to kill millions of people, I don't think your average run of the mill bad parenting does that to someone. Has to be more to it, and frankly, if that's the intention, we didn't really see any motivation for it.
I thought it would be pretty neat. Good position to be adopted. Came from a horrible home. Batman owes one. Season 2 material.

I thought so too! I picked that option and got the same vibe. It makes sense, the tragedy he experienced is similar to what happened to Bruce in Crime Alley.
What does that mean? There are lots of Robins and he's a little young right now.
Well... I don't want to be that person, but... the kid is... you know...
It's called black.
I don't see the problem, he wouldn't be dick Grayson.
What!?
No! I meant he is fat! look at his cheeks!, Robin is supposed to be agile, that kid can't run without having a heart attack.
Doesn't seem fat to me
I'm not sure if you're messing with me or not.
I think this kid is Duke Thomas! Duke himself was a foster kid who was separated from his parents in a joker attack. He kinda became a Robin.
Who's the guy in the current Rebirth run?
He's not a Robin, he looks more like the yellow Power Ranger.
He could grow up to be that... That age would fit.
YES! I would LOVE that so much.
Got the exact same feeling. After all, we know the Vales aren't his birth parents. Who's there to say he wasn't born to a family more ... 'acrobatic' than usual?
Thought the same. Really hope this happens.
I kinda hope not, Ive never been a fan of Robin, and unless Season 2 takes place a good amount of years later, I really dont want some 13 year old Robin.
Yesss I hope this happens that line where he says you're the kid who saved Batman so I'll always owe you one was powerful. We need this kid to become Robin! And we need more diversity in gaming so a Black Robin would be awesome.
Vicki is not trying to kill milions of people.
Vicki was left with an 'unquenchable thrist for revenge'. She grew up under abuse and watching the person who destroyed her life and got her relatives killed smilling on TV, being thanked for his 'good deeds', drowning in money, money gotten through the killing of her parents. She then sees this 'prodigy' kid, just like her, living the life of a god, using money adquired through her parent's sacrifice.
While he's there lying on the news, being aclaimed, hiding his true face, a face only she knew about; she's a no-one, getting weekly beatings from people who were suposed to protect her.
Vicki (Realm of Shadows): "Some of us are old fashioned -- I still want the truth.
Lady Arkham (Children of Arkham): "We are here to end the maquerade and expose the corruption at root in your city."
Vicki is plotting to 'end the charade'. She's been refining a drug, over and over, so she can get people to finally tell the truth to talk and act on their base impulses because she grew up obssessed in taking down liars who got away with the murder of countless innocent people. Now that she's gotten those who wronged her out of the way (Hill and Falcone) she wants to make sure that never happens again, that no more corrupt jerks get away with it.
It is a delusional, and seemingly impossible, plan, sure, but if she did improve the drug just so the victim doesn't turn completely violent, then it has become possible.
The third episode has us fighting to stop her from basically crop-dusting Gotham with that psychosis drug of hers. A large number of people would have died in the ensuing chaos. Whatever her motives might be, they're built on bodies that just keep piling up, and she clearly couldn't care less about how many die in the pursuit of that aim.
Like Gordon said, she's more or less a terrorist.
I still don't get the issue with this physical abuse thing, and I think people are defaulting to the cliche foster home/adoption = abusive. Until there's actual evidence, then I just don't see it as being plausible. Maybe Tell Tale wanted to go that direction, but they didn't leave behind anything that really indicates it. I'd take Vicki as batshit insane over her foster parents being horrible human beings.
I was getting some strong Robin vibes during this scene, and the fact that they never revealed his name makes me even more sure.
I never denied that she is a terrorist and that her actions are despicably evil and unjustified. She is a vilain after all.
I'm just saying that she has her motives, believable ones, for doing what she's doing, which is not trying to murder millions of people, but have them saying the truth. Obviously, no drug is perfect and she knows that even refined, the drug will cause deaths, but causing deaths isn't what she's aiming for, otherwise, she wouldn't have refined her drug in so it would only surface in very selective moments (as we see with drugged Bruce in this episode).
I do think that it was heavily implied that they were abusive or that at least they wronged her in some way. The boy had bruises even though he did not participate in the fight, he was locked down the stairs beforehand for some reason and he asks Batman to not send him to 'punishment'.
I do agree that we can't take it for granted, though, so I'll reformulate and say that Vicki definitely did not have a happy childhood under her foster parents care, we can see as much in her family photo with them.
Both things might be connected, though. Obviously, if Vicki had a happy and comfortable childhood, she could've been saved from being a ruthless psycho.
I dont think ttg intends to do that
Holy shit, I didn't even realize the possible Robin angle to the character until now.
All the same, the kid's still awfully young to become Robin for quite some time. The next season would have to leap forward by a decade at least to allow him to grow old enough to fight alongside Batman.
I definitely think he's going to be Robin. We don't know his name, and then, he attacked the batdrone. They hinted at it pretty strongly with that.
(And the first black Robin that I know of. Cool!)
Robin's always been a kid. In young justice, he trained with Batman since he was 9 and is 13 when fighting. Besides which, even if he's not Robin next season, Bruce is probably going to adopt him.
I think they do. Parents dead. We don't know his name, and he beat up a batdrone. That's a pretty strong hint.
He said they weren't very nice all the time too. And he looked afraid when he talked about the punishment (I think)
Robin: The TellTale Series
Yeah, I thought "potential Robin" right away. And I'd be totally happy with that. Maybe the second or third season will be set a few years in the future and this kid will be in his teens. I can easily imagine that this encounter with Batman left a serious impression on him and his goal has been to work with Batman ever since, especially now that he's an orphan again and has nobody else.
Yeah, I think that "I owe you one" line from Batman might be significant.
I can imagine this kid finding Batman in a later season, as a teenager, and trying to get Bats' to train him, and Batman firmly turning him down (for the boy's own sake, of course). Then I can imagine the kid pulling his ace card and reminding Batman that: "You owe me, remember ... after helping you out with that drone" -- and that's when Bruce backs down and reluctantly agrees.
I also think that training and having to look out for a side-kick is an interesting conflict for players. We'd have to decide how much trust to put in our new Robin, whether to give him big and dangerous missions or hold him back and risk his getting frustrated with us.
Even though I like the idea of him being Robin, I agree that I don't want Season 2 to jump forward too far in time, missing out lots of Batman's career, and I'm not keen on training a tweenage Robin, either. So I say leave him on the bench until Season 3, and then bring him back when he's in his mid- to late teens.
I thought the exact same thing, odd.
While I think a kid could definitely take an I owe you one as a reason to ask, I don't buy that being enough to get Batman to be willing to endanger a teenager (if John Doe asks Batman to help him kill people as his favor it's not like that's going to force his hand either). I believe Batman usually only trains these kids because he knows there's no talking them out if it and it's safer for them if they know what they're doing so he'd agree because the kid is stubborn not because he pulls the all-powerful favor card.
