I agree, it would be upsetting, and yeah it may be a classic, but that could work to hinder it as well as benefit it. With LiS being the more recent game, meaning it's still fresh in people's heads, and with the level of popularity and marketing it has/had, people may be more inclined to vote for it over TWD. That, and LiS is an original IP, meaning it has a broader level of appeal, while some may be less inclined to play TWD depending on how much they like/hate TWD as a whole.
Now with that being said, TWD has its fair share of "loyal" fans that can give LiS a run for their money sometimes (just check out the angry Youtube comments for proof), it may be some stiff competition.

I don't know, with how popular it is and how "loyal" it's fanbase can be, I have a feeling TWD might have some stiff competition with Life is Strange.
