Recommend Me Some Good Games
So I'm a huge story lover and I have enjoyed many story - driven games over the years. I'm fairly new to PC and Steam so I'm pretty open to playing older games as well that I haven't played yet. Could you recommend me some good story - driven games on Steam? I am currently finising up Fairhenheit: Indigo Prophecy Remastered. Bonus points if it is interactive light Heavy Rain or Telltale Games. It could be anything, either old, new, heavy on cutcenes, an RPG, Horror, anything really. I don't care what it is as long as it has a good story. The only genre that I do not really want is point and click games.
Games I've played already that fit the bill:
All Telltale Games
Life Is Strange
The Witcher Series
Spec Ops: The Line
Dishonored Series
Alpha Protocol
Mass Effect Series
Outlast
Star War KOTOR Series
Way of the Samurai Series
Undertale
Firewatch
The Age of Decadence
Outlast Series

Hell yeah, I'm a story lover as well, I'd recommend To The Moon and the Danganronpa series (although only look at DR1 first or else you'll probably be spoiled by the other store pages).
Oxenfree is made by some ex-Telltale devs and is pretty freakin good. Its like always on sale, so if you wait a bit you can probably find it for really cheap.
You know a game is good when the playable character is named "Not Important"
Shit you play on PC don't you. My bad lol.
Nah I've got PS4 too. Until Dawn was amazing! Any other good ones?
You should check out Alien: Isolation. It's a damn good game and pretty spooky. It's also what got me into the Alien franchise.
I'm sorry man, not too big of a gamer! Telltale is pretty much 95% of what I know haha! I'm sure you'll get some other good suggestions.
I've only recently gotten into games like Telltale games. Though I'm glad that I'm not the only person here who has Played Way of the Samurai 3 and 4 at least. These are all I can recommend really. All available on Steam of course. They're nothing like Telltale games though but, I loved their stories none the less. So they're at least worth looking into.
Valkyria Chronicles: Available on PC, PS3 and PS4. Honestly, I've played the PS3 and PC version. Both versions work very well, and I heard the PC version is very PC friendly as well, being you can even have a Intel 4000 Integrated GPU Laptop and the game will still work well.... wellish. It's a linear RPG, with a good story. The game focuses on a Alternate Universe WWII. Themes like Concentration Camps, Racism, and a wonderful gray atmosphere really paints the game positive in my opinion, there are very few characters that can be called villains, in fact I can only think of one I consider a true villain, the rest just feel like antagonist. The game is a strategy RPG game, but it isn't exactly that hard to play to be honest, once you get the basic down.
To The Moon: This is a PC game, well a RPG Maker game. INSANELY linear. Pretty much a good story told through RPG Maker, and I have to say it's worth every penny that it's sold for on Steam. Though to warn. Full screen doesn't work well on Windows 7 and up PC's from my experience anyways. RPG Maker fault. It's cheap so, worth the quick play through, I promise it will break anyone down to tears.
Valiant Hearts The Great War: PC, 360 and PS3, might be available on more but. A Linear side scrolling puzzle game based during The Great War. It's worth it, even though the PC version forces you to use Uplay, which I found annoying, but the annoyance ended up being worth it.
If you played the Mass Effect series and you like the type of games with choices and picking the dialogues, all the Dragon Ages are awesome.
Awesome game. It's called Mahjong Titans. There are tiles depicting numbers, dragons and other things. They are organized in animal forms; turtle, cat, crab. You have to find pairs and click on tiles. The goal is to remove them all. It's not that simple. You have to plan next moves. There's a timer so you can improve your stats. I highly recommend it.
Ohh, got a lot them. But here's some of my favorites. In no particular order:
There are just some, I'll think more of later.
Assassin's Creed series. If you don't want to play all of the games, play the good ones aka Ezio trilogy which is AC 2, AC brotherhood and AC revelations (in that particular order).
Metro 2033 if you are into a post apocalyptic nuclear Russia.
Batman Arkham Series
Fallout 4
Dyscourse is a pretty good game for fans of choice and consequence.
It's short, but has serious replay value. I've played through many times and it has yet to bore me.
It has some of the most impactful choices I've seen in gaming. The story is good as well, though nothing special.
Try Dragon Age: Origins, my favourite game ever. It's a fantasy RPG done by Bioware with great story and awesome characters, so if you enjoyed Mass Effect, I think you might like this as well. There are also 2 sequels, but they're not on Steam and imo not so good. Still worth checking out if you're satisfied with Origins.
BTW, be sure to get the Ultimate Edition, because it has all the DLCs and it costs the same as standard edition for some reason. And wait for the winter sale (duh, I know).
Spiderman Web of Shadows - An okay story, with AWESOME huge open world and combat. You can switch between Symbiote and Normal spiderman. There is also a choice and consequence and many scenes play out VERY DIFFERENTLY (and combat too) depending on which choices you make. You can also play a world that is symbiote infested later in the game. Powers and graphics are very nice too.
Must try! 9/10
GTA Series - All series from Vice City onwards are ALL GOOD with a mediocre story but AWESOME gameplay with roleplay elements in a open world city. 8.5/10
Batman Arkham City - Great open world, and again story driven. Give it a try! 7/10
Below are iOS games
The Dark Knight Rises - Again, a great open world, but not as good as the ones mentioned above. 6.5/10
Gangstar Series - Again, this series is very similar to GTA: San Andreas. It is another open world story driven game with HD graphics. Fun.
time for me to recommend oxenfree again. if you liked life is strange you will enjoy this game as it has similer themes and it was made by former telltale people.
it's not that long either a short but sweet 4 hour experience. tho i'd say buy it on sale as it's normal price point is alittle to high.
you played mass effect so i'd recommend dragon age origins.
i was gonna recommend the ace attorney games but not sure if you have a ds.
and keep in mind. if you want to get into dr do not look up anything. it is so easy to get the series spoiled.
Just know the PC versions of the first 2 games have mouse and keyboard controls only.
Batman Arkham Series
Oxenfree
Borderlands Series
South Park: The Stick of Truth
Some of my personal favorites are
-Fallout 3 and 4
-Quantum Break (its Xbox and Windows exclusive though)
-We happy few (this is an early access game but it still interest me it's like waiting for a telltale episode just a little longer)
Most of these have already been mentioned, but my list is
The Last of Us
Oxenfree
First Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite
Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light
Red Dead Redemption
Wolfenstein the New Order
Grim Fandango is pretty fantastic.
L.A. Noire is a must if you love story driven games.
Oxenfree
OneShot
Bioshock Series
SOMA
Deus Ex: Human Revolution
The Legend of Heroes : Trails in the Sky
To the Moon
Bastion
Transistor
I love how the suggestions are all over the place. Oh yeah, if you love story based games, you'll love this mouse and keyboard strategy game I'm going to mention.
For PC? Well, judging from what people have already said, let's see what else I can add that hasn't already been added. Hmm.....
Yes, many of these titles are minimalistic, point and click style games, but those are the ones that get the best story. With less focus on the mechanics and gameplay, you can really make something great from the story. Okay enough talk. I've said enough. Bye now.
If you love story-driven games, play Uncharted series and The Last of Us if you have a PS4.
Stardew Valley, Metal Gear Solid 3 and Silent Hill 3 are the only games that I consider to be near-perfection, so I'd recommend those. Although SH3 and MGS3 are the only story based ones.
I would recommend the game Broken Age, which serves as a great puzzle game, with a great plot that has the player constantly guessing what is happening with who.
I don't think Stardew Valley is a very story driven game, but it is a blast. lol
