Monogamy/closed romantic relationships: anyone here who's put off by it?
- I'm not asking who supports it, since that's the majority belief.
- Cheating does not count.
- If your opinion is undecided, split, or questioning, this is a decent place to talk about it as well.
Standard forum rules apply, blah blah, you already know this.

No, not really. Monogamy seems more better (couldn't think of a word; brain fart) than Polygamy. Even though these shows are probably fake, Sister Wives and My Five Wives, it seems like it would show how the wives of the polygamist feel. It's a lot of jealously because even though they agreed to this kind of relationship, you can still sense their jealously and would want to have their husband more to themselves.
Hey don't judge. I watched one episode of it, and it was not that good.
One thing I can guarantee you, that if people were monogamous, and stayed true to their partner, be they a heterosexual couple, or a homosexual couple, (and for those who are single, if they would use protection each and every time they had sex), the number of people who contract stds would be significantly lower, as would unwanted pregnancies.
And here's something else. Through life you're gonna hear guys talking a lot of bullshit. And they're gonna be talking about how good this one girl was in the sack, or about how tight she was, and this other shit.
Well I had a friend tell me, and I have found it true from personal experience, and now I'm gonna tell you:
"All pussy is pretty much the same. What really matters is the character of the woman.
It doesn't matter how hot the girl is, how big her tits are, how nice an ass she has, or how tight she is. If a woman has got a bitchy attitude, or cares about nobody but herself, then she isn't worth it.
It doesn't matter how great the sex is. If she isn't a nice person, or doesn't treat you with kindness and respect, then she isn't worth your time or energy!"
Nah, you're good. I was more judging the show's existence than you watching one episode of it.
I agree with you completely, I cant express to other guys how much more its important to get a woman that treats you right than a woman that looks good or feels good.
They aren't actually sisters. It's a what a man's wives call each other in Mormonism (or rather the hyper-conservative Mormon communities that still practice polygamy).
Literally EVERY starter post in this thread ignored the the description. Just like the last time I didn't add all the relevant details first in the title.
As Vicki said in episode 3 (probably paraphrased), "does anyone read anymore?"
Well, nobody opposes monogamy so far.
One interesting concept I've heard of is to make all marriages require periodic extensions. Say you can only be married five years, and at the end of that, if both parties don't agree to stay married for another five years, then divorce is automatic. (So what happens to the kids and the shared property? I haven't heard anyone get far enough into the concept to answer that one.)
I've read the description. I guess I misinterpreted what you meant.
Polygamy doesn't really work in my own limited experience.
Where in the OP was polygamy stated? Have none of y'all heard of being single? Or polyamory?
