What Mattered to You? Your Residence or Your Tech?

We had a choice in Episode 4 which we choose to stop Oz from taking over the BatComputer and Harvey from obliterating your home. Which one had you stopped and why?

I stopped Oswald because I really needed new tech for Batman to use that can be useful and to avoid Oz getting access to the BatComputer, risking Bruce's house to become bombed down. What about you?

I didn't choose the manor, i chose the people who were in it. I don't care if they knew to go to the batcave, my Bruce was going to the manor to make sure nothing happened to Alfred or Lucius. Batman is pretty much a genius and one of the best fighters in the world so he didn't need the tech to stop bad guys and he'd gladly give up all of the tech to save the ones he loved.

  • Well my residence mattered more (I figured the tech would be easier to replace and I'd get that back quicker. Harvey was literally burning down my house and that is Not Okay) but then reaching Harvey was more important than either of those so...

  • I chose the tech so I could beat the crap out of penguin more and throw his arse in jail.

  • Tech. It was a no-brainer to me that Alfred could just barricade himself in the bat cave, and Wayne manor itself isn't of much use when it comes to fighting crime.

  • I went to the manor to save Alfred and Lucius, as well as stop my friend Harvey who just terrorbombed an entire city block. Cobblepot already took Wayne Enterprises from me, he could hold onto it for a bit longer.

  • Well congratulations, you did. :)

  • Yep, it gave me great satisfaction breaking his leg and delivering him the justice that he needs.

    Well congratulations, you did.

  • I went to the Wayne Enterprises, not because of Batman needing his tech, but because of the havoc that Penguin would unleash with the tech. If I knew Bruce would just shut it down if you went to the Manor, I'd go there. Then again, I'm glad I didn't, because I wouldn't get that amazing and emotional scene with Harvey.

My home was more important to me, mainly because of its inhabitants. The prospect of having my identity discovered by Penguin and having my Batman abilities inhibited was grim and pretty terrifying, but ultimately, losing Lucius or Alfred would be much more dire. The fate of Harvey, however, was even more significant to me, so I cheated to ensure that Bruce had a better chance of reaching out to him. Never has lying to myself left me so satisfied. Encountering Harvey in episode five was beyond words. Have I mentioned I loved that scene before?

  • It definitely won't be easily replaced. The Batcave and Bruce's tech would've taken a lot of time and money to build and now they have to replace it. And at the time Bruce was pushed out of his company so the resources needed would've been difficult to obtain. Luckily Bruce is back with the company now but we had no idea if that would happen.

    I think it should've been a choice.

  • Tech. Batman's tech gives him such a huge advantage so taking it away would make things quite difficult for him.

Well not EASILY replaced but easier than rebuilding a house. Although the damage in five seemed less extensive than that huge blaze in episode four might suggest.

  • I had it spoiled that Harvey's face burns if you go to the manor, so I fought Penguin instead. I managed to get through the game without a "two-face will remember that" line!

I reasoned that... Bruce Wayne's mansion has been burned down before (an example being Batman Begins, 2005), and when it does, both Bruce and Alfred take shelter in the batcave, which during the movie hasn't even Become the batcave yet (pre-renovation). Bruce and Alfred are more than the home in which they live. Playing the game, I trusted Alfred in and with the batcave, but I did not trust Oz and The Children of Arkham with my technology -- especially when I would be handicapped without it.

My decision never felt heartless (as if I were picking my tech over Alfred); instead, it felt like I was choosing between having to rebuild Bruce or Batman -- from the ground up.

But that's just how I felt, of course!

  • I think both choices have logic to them. In the end I chose to go back to the Manor. I didn't really think about whether Alfred would head into the cave or not. Just had a feeling he'd fight even if I wasn't on my way there. In the end I chose to protect the core. Alfred is the emotional center and irreplaceable. And on the logical side Lucius was also there. He is the tech. If I lose him then making new gear in the future would be hugely difficult.

There was good reason to hit Wayne Enterprises. And I don't think anyone who chose that was wrong. Penguin having that tech is dangerous. And if you think Alfred would hide in the cave it would be reasonable to go stop Penguin.

I just chose to protect family.

  • Harvey's face doesn't burn. Only the side of his body burns.

  • It does look pretty painful. Probably a larger injury but not as serious burns.

  • Ultimately I chose tech. Don't regret it, the news feed, and the codex are also important.

I saved the tech first so that Bruce's identity was protected and so that his tech wouldn't be compromised during imperative moments. I had figured Alfred would be safe since I had him hide in the batcave. Penguin taking control of all of wayne tech seemed to me to be the more immediate problem that had to be taken care of. To me, I figured Harvey couldn't harm the people I cared about because he wouldn't be able to find the batcave.

  • I chose the tech because Oswald having control of it would be a disaster, and it was far more important to have than the Manor at that point

  • For my first time canon playthrough, I chose manor, since Alfred and Lucius are my Batman's closest allies.

But in my second walkthrough, I'll choose tech, and see what happens.
