Importing the save from season 2

So I imported a save from the end of season 2 in which I sided with Kenny, and chose not to stay in the settlement. Instead I had the "went on the road with Kenny" option when importing the save in the new game. But when I started playing the game, I got the went it alone with AJ flashback scene, and no Kenny at all. Was this designed this way or what gives?

    Instead of importing, you should choose your decisions manually, the import system has a lot of bugs.

    Well, damn. Might have to do another playthrough then..
