I doubt that this was the final season. The game appears to have a good reception from the audience, and seems to be doing fairly well in the sales department. The set-up of the Joker in Guardian of Gotham seemed to hint towards a second season, and the Joker's cameo at the end of the finale was a huge teaser towards season 2. It seems Telltale is prepared and expecting to go that route, thankfully.
All recent Telltale games that have or are going to gave a sequel (The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones) announced that they where a "multi year, multi platform" deal when they where first announced, the Batman game didn't have such a statement so it will likely only be a one time only game.
Oh I think there is a good chance a season 2 is already in the cards. Deals can be amended if the publisher shows interest in pursuing the partnership.
Batman Telltale S01 is an undisputable success.
I want more already.
I know I'm already frothing at the mouth for more, if they were to leave the Batman series dead in the water they'd be losing out on the most popular license they've obtained. Obviously from a business standpoint it does't stand to make much sense to let go of the series that they will clearly earn future sales with, and from an artistic one it'd be well, super-duper lame to can a series that had such a strong start, and clearly hinted at more to come. Not only was The Joker foreshadowed as next primary antagonist, but the game itself gave us choices that could hypothetically impact the narrative as it develops in the future (Fund Arkham/Fund GCPD, Take down Harvey/Penguin as Batman or as Bruce), I think if Telltale's team was intending to either create a series that would only last one season, or create a series that they had doubts about bringing into the future with more installments, then they wouldn't have left us off in such an incomplete phase of their story.
People said the same thing about The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands and there are no hints at any sequels for them on the horizon and they seemed far more popular then the Batman game, I get the feeling Telltale will most likely remain silent about another season even when people beg for more.
If they do I'll be pissed. That ending begs for a sequel.
After the game finished a ad for the Batman comics popped up, when i saw that i got the assumption they did it so you can continue the story between Joker and Batman by reading the comics rather than a second season.
I refuse to accept this
I mean, an ad for Batman comics came up after every Batman ep tho
I really hope not, but I feel like the main problem was sales.
So far it doesnt seem like Batman sold super well plus when it first came out it had so many performance problems.
However, Telltale does seem to be setting up a season 2. Unlike games like The Wolf Among Us and Tales from the Borderlands, Batman seems like it is clearly setting up for a season 2, but then again, sales.
I seriously doubt that. It seems really weird to go on about how this is their own story, making changes, proving this is a fantastic and unique story only to go... "What happens next? Oh you can just read this other Batman story"
Be careful Bats the Joker has a few boners up his sleeves for you !
Telltale you know what you have to do.
Bonus :
Pure Gold
I don't know man. Telltale normally announces another season a few days after the season finale. This is worrying.
Really ? A few days ?
Batman Telltale is my first Telltale game but I would think they would let a few month before announcing anything.
Yeah they normally announce a new season a few days after the finale. They did that with Game of thrones and The Walking Dead.
Maybe they are waiting for the dust to settle with their publisher.
Maybe.
Theres still 2 episodes left of Batman Unmasked, Id expect season 2 to be announced in probably the last one.
I hope so, Telltale can make a killing off of Batman.
Not true with the Walking Dead; those were announced earlier. However, don't take the lack of a sequel announcement as bad news. That doesn't really mean much as Telltale has done things differently for each series to get sequel announcements.
Well as far as teasers at the end of the seasons go, Tales of Monkey Island teased one heavily, yet we're still waiting for Season 2 there
Aside from TWD this is my favorite Telltale game. I really hope there's a season 2, this game has had such a unique story and take on the characters.
If they don't go through with it well...
I'll feel like Duck when Lee left him hanging for a high five.
Ironically...
Duck was Robin in that scenario... and Lee was Batman.
Batman's gonna leave us hanging.
Niiice : D
Don't forget TWAU.
Yeah, that one still needs Season 2 also, but it didn't really have a cliffhanger. They pretty much wrapped everything up.
I don't know what Telltale intended, but I wouldn't mind either way. I like what Telltale did with Batman and would be interested to see what more they could do. But if they'd rather make more of The Wolf Among Us or something else DC related (fingers crossed for Superman) I wouldn't be against it either.
I hope not
Tales from the borderlands was pretty much wrapped up. No reason for a second season. The wolf among us on another hand can go both ways.
That's probably because one of the terms of agreement from DC was that in order for telltale to make the batman game they would have to promote the comics from DC. It's pretty smart on DC's part (note: this is just a logical assumption).
I hope there will be more, pf the five telltale games I have played this was my favorite
I hope there's a sequel. With Joker as the main villain this time.
I always see Daniel Day-Lewis as Thomas Wayne, I don't know why.
I can picture him coldly killing a rival crime lord to assert this authority and tighten his grip over Gotham city's underworld.
This has just become my favourite Telltale game (surprisingly edging out TWAU, which was my previous favourite). Its detailed gameplay, which includes "detective mode", "battle plans" etc, improves upon pretty much all Telltale games up to this point.
However, with that said, the pessimist in me tells me to not expect a sequel. TWAU, while not quite as good as this game (but still awesome regardless), is LONG overdue (even moreso than TTFTBL) for a sequel, and there's still no word on that, since no "multi-deal" announcement wasn't made for this like TWD and GOT.
Better to not expect it and be surprised (if sequel happens, but if not, no biggie - since I wasn't counting on it anyway), then expect it and be disappointed.
If there ever is a sequel i dont think it would be this year seeing how telltale has several things on their plate already. But in my opinion i do think there will be a sequel or this could be wolf among us 2.0
But aren't there always those hints for a season 2 just in case they think about doing a 2nd season ?
I honestly wish that Telltale would create a season 2 for there older games instead of releasing a new game after another. Now guardians of the galaxy is confirmed.
I mean it is possible season 2 comes out this year, Minecraft Story Mode basically got a season 2 about 5 months after the main game ended.
