How many of u actually quit playing TTG and just watch "lets play" on youtube?
It is a serious question because lately there isnt much depth in telltale games. Its just no matter what u do, same things happen and there isnt even a illusion of choices anymore like it was in previous games. People say that decisions in twds1 also didnt matter but the game had so much depth that you could play a altogether different lee with different small results and interactions. I am not asking for a complete story change but atleast change little things according to my choices and delay the inevitable (killing determinants).
The last TTG game i bought was GoT and i realized thats it for me, I have watched couple of playthroughs of batman and it seemed it suffers from same problem.

The last TTG episode I rushed to get on release was No Going Back. Ever since, I've only bought TWD S1, 2, Michonne, and the Poker Night games on discount (like, $5 or less). The only game I'm still considering buying is MCSM.
Choices did matter in Batman and Tales from the Borderlands
It just doesn't feel right for me to watch other players play games by Telltale. I always end up like:
I would have done things this way.
Why did you do that?
Why are you being so unfriendly? Why are you being too nice to this character?
I prefer playing it myself, because it is much more personal and this is how I wanted the characters or events to play out.
Nah, I'm a huge fan of theirs so I play them all.
Not me. I don't like watching games on youtube in general, because there are always several things I'd do differently and that would really bug me even if it didn't make much difference.
What about TFTB?
Bought:
The Walking Dead Season One (+ 400 days)
The Walking Dead Season Two
The Wolf Among Us
Tales from the Borderlands (I bought it 2 times. One for xbox 360 and recently for Xbox One in a Sale.)
Game of Thrones Season One
Minecraft: Story Mode (Episodes 1-5 only)
The Walking Dead: A New Frontier
Watched on Youtube
The Walking Dead: Michonne
Batman - The Telltale Series
If i enjoy the first Episode, i usually buy the whole Season, because i like to support the developers.
I didn't bought Batman and Michonne though, because i hadn't had an Xbox One yet and after watching it on Youtube and realising, that Batman was a technicle mess and Michonne wasn't really compelling or interesting enough, to make me care to watch the other 2 episodes, i'm kinda glad, that i didn't bought them afterwards.
I buy them else there's no fun to be had really!
I have never watched a lets play video, nothing more boring than watching other people play video games
Play them!
I'd also like to add, that i watch lets plays regardless if I bought a game or not. I just like to know people thoughts on the Episodes.
I've watched walkthroughs of TellTale series mainly because of computer issues (my laptop was merely surviving until this past month) and college. Now that I've graduated and will start working next month, I can finally get a new computer. One that happens, I definitely be buying and playing all of TellTale's TWD series as well as TFTBL and probably TWAU. I like their games. I see TellTale's games as interactive books. There is replay value as you can pick different choices and experiment with what you can do and say. Sure, the main parts of the story are railroad tracked, but what story isn't? Then again, I don't take fiction too seriously, so flaws can be "entertaining" I'm a out-of-the-box sort of way... if that made any sense. In this day and age where tv shows and movies are no longer the sole forms of visual story entertainment, I think TellTale has found their little niche in between Netflix and video games. It's really up to them to determine how far they will push and stretch themselves.
I do disagree with OP's opinion of season 1 or TWD. I've read and seen all the different aspects of that season. While I do like that season and look forward to playing it on my own, I don't understand the extreme love for it. While widely accepted as a great success, only a portion of forum member view it as the standard for TellTale. I see similarities in how TWD:S1 fans view other seasons of TWD as subpar to how Star Trek: The Original Series purist look down upon newer iterations of the franchise including the reboot movies. Part of me believes that Lee dying is what made it such a success and that the game would not have obtained this cult following had Lee survived. I actually view TFTBL as TellTale's best game with TWAU as second place (though Batman might steal that one if I decide to either watch episode 5 or wait to pay the whole season).
I only watch playthroughs after I finish the game, just to see other reactions. The only time I watched a playthrough without playing the game first was episode 3 or 4 of season two because I was so pissed off I didn't want to play anymore. Other than that, I still enjoy the games. I don't know why there is so much hate going around.
I have bought every recent Telltale game as soon as its available to preorder, and I don't think that will change anytime soon.
No real point, the choices barely make a difference. Walkthroughs are enough for me.
Dojo's right on this one. Tales From The Borderlands is really great. It does have some features where your choices do matter, particularly for the end....
And MCSM does have a large amount of tailoring and small changes (perhaps the game with the most changes and tweaks to date). I highly suggest you check out both of those games. They are so worth it.
Well, I play the game and then watch let's plays on YouTube, see if any creators I like made different choices than I did. It's good. Some of the recent stuff doesn't have too much changes based on a certain choice, but it's enough for me... I like the illusion of choice sometimes.
I bought Tales From the Borderlands and the first two seasons of The Walking Dead, but I watched The Wolf Among Us, Michonne, and S3 of TWD.
Am I the only one who likes playing the games just because theyre fun and are not all hung up on the "choices matter" thing?
You could barely call telltales current "games" videogames. But the definition of the word videogame is a discussion for another thread. I personally find that the story is the only interesting part in these games, and a simple youtube walkthrough is enough to get it.
I'm still playing their games
I agree. If you don't have any interesting or hilarious commentary, then watching a lets play is boring as crap.
Not me. Although, I've been thinking about watching Minecraft: Story Mode on YouTube since I'm unsure of whether or not I wanna spend any money on it or not.
I personally watch YouTubers first before actually playing it myself and wait until the story is totally finished. Then buy it and give it my own personal touch to it.
With the current TTG games, it feels like watching one Let's Play let's you see almost all of the game, so yeah I'm onto watching Youtubers play the games instead, much more fun with their added commentary imo.
I got the first episode on PS3 when it became free. Our bro liked it so much he bought most of the rest of them the same day and finished buying it off when he could. As much as we love Tales, we already have it without me myself buying it, so technically it doesn't count.
(See my reply to dojo)
If the rest of TWD S3 goes to shit just like S2, then yeah, probably
When Season 2 came out I watched it all on Youtube. I bought the game a while later, but still haven't played past the first episode. And I've hardly even looked at A New Frontier so far.
I haven't quit, but I have skipped a few of their games like Minecraft and Walking Dead Michonne and Batman
I've never watched a let's play TT game before but I might as well for New Frontier. I'm not getting an Xbox One until my 24th birthday on August 21st. I visit these forums constantly lol so I'll have the game spoiled for me anyway. To answer your question, yeah it's obvious that our choices don't really matter anymore, yet I still like to pretend that they do while I enjoy the ride.
For $20 for a unique game you really can't go wrong. Just imagine that there actually are people that buy military war games and sports games every year for $60. What a waste of money in my opinion.
-Yours truly I'm in the dying Xbox 360 category.
I like to watch some of my favorite YouTubers play them just because I like watching them play games and especially seeing what choices they would choose, but I buy the game and play it for myself. The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is the first game where I am just relying on playthroughs and that's because I don't have next gen
Oh, I see. Already done, then!
Same boat lol.

I dont join this hate bandwagon. When I like something I like it. No one can tell me if this game is good for me or not.
if clem dies in season 3. I quit =(
When i first played the walking dead, i watched playthroughs but lately, ive played them from scratch because i felt watching someone else before i played ruined the experience in the games.
I dunno if I'll buy the other games anymore. I couldn't play Batman because of PC issues which convinced me to play TWD Season 3 on PS4
