This is entirely theory based, so take it for what you will. I believe the New Frontier may have road paths they commonly take for travel, s… moreeeing as they have people spread out. Perhaps there's more than one outpost besides the junkyard. With these road paths, if on were to fall, they can head straight to the other outpost or the main headquarters instead.
I believe Clem may have been familiar with the road paths, and prepared for an ambush on them. She must have found equipment to use to chop down the tree, most likely having prior help from Tripp in an earlier day or so. So maybe she was preparing in advance and when she was just about to finish, the truck was coming and the tree "fell down slower than she thought."
Maybe she waited there for a few hours, waiting for a car to show up and she cut the tree partially so when the truck was approaching she cut it entirely, of course everyone probably knows, you can control the direction in which a tree will fall
Well the Doctor spent 2 billion years simply punching through a 2 meter something thick wall with bare hands that was 400 times stronger than diamond. The point is given enough time and patience even a 13 year old could knock down a tree. That being said she most likely prepared the tree, cut just enough so that it doesn't fall prematurely. "But how would she know how to do that? Because her father was an engineer hahahahahaha." There are plenty of trees around to practice on and its not like its rocket science. You cut down 2-3 and you will get the feel for it.
How did she know a car would be coming through there? Well she was with the NF and the truck was going to one of their outposts and given how she already knows about the Junkyard its only safe to assume that she knows that the road is constantly used by NF.
It was night, and from what we see the road was pretty straight so it was easy to see the car coming and would give her enough time to drop the tree.
Not a bad plan at all or impossible for a 13 year old girl.
The question you should be asking is why she gave enough time for Javi and NF guy to get out of the truck? For all she new there were at least 2 NF guys in the truck, she should have gone to the wreck asap and held them up/shot them. Thats pretty much the only problem I have with the whole scene.
Clem scopes out a road where she's spotted vehicles like that New Frontier truck driving through frequently.
She conjures up the plan to cut down a tree and hold the owners up with a boomstick so she can steal their vehicle.
Clem finds an axe and a deck chair, cuts the tree partway down and sits around smoking weed until she hears somebody coming.
She cuts the tree the rest of the way down then pulls off her bandit act, and hey presto, she hecked it up because the tree fell too slow and made the truck go off the road into a ditch, but hey, she got candy and a servant to go on a magical adventure with smoking more weed Life is peachy.
Yeah there was some kind of explosion. Also Clem even says it fell too late and she just wanted to stop the truck. So maybe it didn't explode early enough.

You see this what I was criticizing when EP1 came out. It sounds cool but when you question it later it doesn't make any sense.
She didn't had an axe on her backpack either.
Maybe she looked for a tree that was loose enough and waited to push it over.
