Opinions on video game based tattoos?
...and tattoos in general.
I've seen a few tattoos in the past based on video games that a few of my friends have got and I know a lot of people would recommend against getting one as you may regret it in later life.
But I dunno, I've always sorta wanted to get one of my sister's name on my forearm just because I know I'll probably not regret it at any time, but my buddy showed me a pic on imgur of this one someone got on their shoulder of the 'D' logo on Clementine's hat and I just thought it was awesome.
I think I'd like to get one somewhat like it at some stage but at the same time I'd always worry if I would regret it at some point because y'know, it is just a video game after all.
So I was just wondering if any of you guys had any tattoos or any advice on getting one?
I don't want to make any serious decisions as I'm still pretty young and stupid, but if I do still have my heart set on getting one by the summer then I might seriously consider getting one.

Okay now I can finally share the fact that I have a huge Oblivion sign with Daedric text around it on my right rib cage. I love Elder Scrolls so much and my tattoos allowed me to skip the line for Skyrim on 11/11/11
Ok, thank god, I was beginning to think people would judge me. I'm so happy there is someone else here that thinks it's a great idea.
How old are you? I got my Oblivion tattoo when I was 18 and built on it since then. I would say be at least 18 but that's just the parent in me speaking, not the rebellious teen that I was.
I will say that tattoos are addicting and it is really hard if not impossible to get "just one", so be cautious and be sure that you get something that you KNOW you won't regret. You can usually feel it in your gut when its the right tattoo, as well as when you're making a hasty decision. Been there done that
I'll be 18 by the time I want to get it (or legally allowed to get it I mean).
That's good advice, I've kinda wanted the two tats for like the last 3 years so I know I'm not making any unwise decisions.
Well if we're being honest, the shoulder is a pretty inocuous place to get a tattoo. I have several tattoos but all are able to be covered up easily if I were in a professional setting. Just be smart, don't make a hasty decision, but also don't let others dictate what would or would not be a worthwhile tattoo. Think on it long and hard leading up to your 18th birthday, and also consider if you think you want to get more tattoos in the future. Consider all angles, you're smart you can figure this out
Thank you so much. It really helps a lot.
I'm not inclined to get a tattoo, but I don't mind/judge if people do, so go for it as long as you won't regret it later in life.
No problem, friend. Feel free to message me if you need any additional advice
I'm not a fan of the permanence of any tattoo. And getting a tattoo of a a video game seems extra silly. Imagine if 50 yr olds had old tattoos of pong. We'd be like, you love Pong THAT much? Video games come and go. Very few stay relevant for decades. And what if the company botches the series? Then you have a tattoo from a game you no longer even like? Come on.
I don't see anything wrong with it if you're a huge fan of something, but it's definitely something to think about because of its permanence. Games are kinda iffy, you may not always feel the same about the series but a logo representing a character is a bit different for me since that character isn't representative of what the series may devolve into. I feel like I'm less likely to start disliking a character than I am a series, an example being I probably won't get Mass Effect inked on my body anytime soon, but the N7 logo is something I'd consider because it represents Shepard to me, and my Shep kicked insane amounts of ass. But as was said before, be mindful of its visibility, you don't really want something plastered across your face when you're trying to get people to take you seriously, appearance definitely matters in a work environment.
As for actually having a tattoo, I've got one on my shoulder, a Dallas Cowboys tattoo. It's small enough to be covered wearing short sleeves, and easy enough to reveal when someone questions me. Make sure you're a diehard before you rep something.
Oh, and generally don't tattoo a girlfriend or boyfriends name. Like, ever lol
I'm not against video game tattoos. I think it's cool, but it'd best be something you're really passionate about. This isn't video game related, but my dad's actually got a tattoo inspired by one of his favorite wrestlers.
I guess it video game tattoos are better than some generic tribal or those dumb dream catchers that everyone gets as their first tattoo (at least in my home town). As long as you don't get it on the face/neck/hands you should be ok.
or
Don't let anyone tell you what to do with your body
Nothing in life is ever guaranteed, if you aren't living in the moment then you aren't living at all
Now go get that damn tat
Personally I would never get a tattoo because that shit is permanent.
But I have seen a bunch of really cool video game tattoos and some really bad ones. So if you do plan on actually getting one, for the love of God do not try to be a cheapskate about it or you'll end up with something like this.
I like symbol tattoos. I'd get a borderlands and assassins creed logo. Due to the fact they looks cool, even if I fall out with the game the design is great.
I love tattoos so i wanna get as many as I can.
I've got a movie reference tattoo. I've got a rose and sword leg piece. But the sword is sting from lord of the rings.
If you like it, get it. If you get a good artist it's worth it. Don't go cheap
The Gears of War Omen would be a sick one to get. It's just a bloody skull that looks sweet
Legendary
To be honest, I find tattoos in general very bad ideas for anyone. Unless it's for something basic and specific. Context really counts. Political tattoos, expression, and things that can annoy, enrage other people can often be some of the worst ideas ever. As you never know, you're view of politics, your view of personal taste can evolve and change over time, and they can likely become regrets as much as they were cool to you when younger.
When it comes to video games. I'd suggest if you're ever going to get one, do something subtle. Like a "Black" ink print of the Tri Force of Courage. Squad 7 Emblem of the Gallian Militia. Stuff that proves you're fandom but are not over board, and can kind of cool neat regardless. Get one of Sonic of the Hedgehog? You may get cock eyes in your direction. Get one of Pikachu oh definitely cock eyes in your direction. Super Mario would be very hard as everything is cartoonie and cute. lol
Whatever makes you happy.
But I'd personally never get a tattoo because I know I'll cringe at it after certain time lol.
I have a friend with the Hitman symbol on his arm. It actually works really well.
I'm not sure I'll ever get a tattoo.
