I just personally feel that if feminists said they were refusing to buy a game just because one developer said some sexist things you'd scoff, as would many people.
I'm not offended by their opinions, I'm offended at how racist they are. If they hate white people, then they hate me too. They hate people … morethey haven't even met before. I don't want to buy a product from people that are so unprofessional. However, even if I ignored all of that and was going to buy this anyway, the options for romance, which is a big thing in this series for me, look, to be honest, shit.
You're not gonna be missing anything by skipping 3; in fact you're probably better off. Andromeda is set 600 years after 3 and in a different galaxy, so new players will be able to comfortably integrate themselves.
I'm very excited for the game. But am a little worried about it. I'm excited about the exploration part, where you and your crew go out and look for a new home, and meet new races, like Star Trek. What i'm worried about is the villain, they just seem like generic Bioware Bad guys, like the Dark spawn. I just hope Bioware changes it up a little bit this time around in the villain department, I don't want a Dark spawn, Reaper, or Corepheus clone.
It depends on what they say. Usually when they say something "sexist", it's not even sexist at all. But this guys behavior is some of the worst I've ever seen in a person.

I'll give you Tuchanka only because of Mordin, but citadel DLC was just massive fan service. It didn't even fit into the context of the stor… morey. We literally had reapers destroying huge populations of species, and Shepard and crew decide to throw a party? The only reason citadel DLC existed was because of the outrage BW faced on there forums for the treatment of the me2 characters. You barely got to interact with them in the base game so BW gave fans a DLC to have a proper goodbye. It was so cringe worthy, especially the dialogue at some points.
Usually when they say something "sexist", it's not even sexist at all.
But say one employee did say something sexist about women, and feminists were complaining and supporting boycots of it, would you fully 100% support them, or instead say that it's just one employee and they shouldn't invalidate other people's hard work because of one dumb employee's statements?
The reality is that there are assholes working for every, single, company you buy things from. The best thing you can do is work against causes they as individuals are supporting. Refusing to buy something because one whackjob worked on it won't send a message or anything.

But he isn't just some whackjob working on the game. He's one of the LEAD DESIGNERS. Also it depends what he says. Because as I said, most of the time when people say something that is apparently sexist or racist lately ,it is not.

There's ways devs can make a game fun and still be consistent with the story. Partying while millions are dying in an instant makes little to no sense. Dialogue for that DLC was cringe worthy as well, and the entire thing felt like I was playing through a fanfiction.
It's a BW game, characters are always written pretty nicely. That's their strength. That was never the problem with citadel DLC, the problem was it didn't fit into the context of the overall situation Shepard and crew was facing and some parts were unnecessary (i.e when Shepard was locked in the vault and the time the crew spent criticizing Shepard "I Should go" line). It was so cringey, and felt as though it came straight out of a fanfiction.
I swear all default male protagonists these days look the same?
It's fine but there's not much creativity. It's just 'slap brown hair and stubble on someone and call it a day'.
Talk about creating safe spaces for yourself! Refusing to play a video game just because you don't like the political opinions of some of the developers is sad in my opinion.
You're not gonna be missing anything by skipping 3; in fact you're probably better off. Andromeda is set 600 years after 3 and in a different galaxy, so new players will be able to comfortably integrate themselves.
Only 1 and 2 are worth playing. 3 is horrible ( and before anyone say "only because of the ending." No the entirety of 3 was bad. Bad writing, retconning of player choice from the previous games, and a bad space ninja villain.)
I think that the new villain the "Archon" is gonna be similar to the Reapers, remember from mass effect one we didn't know anything about the Reapers. It's probably going to be the same thing with the Kett, starting off not knowing anything about them, but learning more and more as the game progresses. As for the Archon being a generic villain possibility, i agree, it's possible that the Archon will be generic video game villain #372, but think about it, the andromeda galaxy is where the kett live. we are the aliens and in their eyes we have come to take over, no crap they want us dead.

Eh I guess I was mostly letting my distaste for the ending speak (yes I'm still not over it lol). Not trying to say that the game as a whole is bad but a lot of the criticisms people have for it are valid. Besides, the fact remains that they really wouldn't be missing anything story-wise.
So here were my choices:
((never finished me1 started me2 with Genesis cause i could not for the life of me control the freaking Mako <_< ))
ME1 Genesis:
Romanced Ash
Saved the queen
saved Wrex
Saved Ashley
Saved the council
Picked Anderson.
ME2:
had all the DLC
Everyone was loyal except Zaaed
Mordin, Zaaed and Jacob died in the suicide mission .
Romanced Tali
Saved Maelon s data
Finished Lair of the shadow broker
Saved David on the Overlord DLC
and Finished the Arrival DLC.
ME3:
Had every DLC except Omega.
Padok wiks replaced Mordin And had some pretty good dialogue.
Cured the Genophage
Recruited Javik
Got Donely ,Daniels and Chakwas on the ship.
Peace between the Geth and Quarians.
did most of the side missions ((Except for that extremely Cryptic one that had to do with something about gas i think.))
Played Leviathan and Citadel dlcs ((Citadel is clearly the best one .))
Picked the Destroy ending .
I am slowly getting more and more excited for Andromeda. It's funny because I almost always pick a biotic class for ME but this time for roleplaying purposes I think I'm gonna play Ryder as a tech geek. Just really want to get with the whole explorer persona. He'll probably be a bit cheeky too. I'm excited just thinking about it!
Those of you that are into roleplaying their characters: How do you think you'll roleplay your Ryder?
I don't have a right to say this, since I won't be buying the game.
But if I did buy Andromeda, I will play Ryder as I did with Shepard. A soldier class, who is a normal person who is able to accomplish extraordinary thing through his charisma and gut.

My expectations are pretty low for Mass Effect Andromeda. Now that the ME brand is a cash cow for EA, i doubt its going to anything that doesn't fit within the tent of the last set of games. I dont plan on getting it on release. Im sure its going to have some kind of pay wall in the form of day 1 DLC's. Ill probably just wait a year or so and get all of the game for $40-$50 less.

Generic villains always disappoint and I don't know why so many companies and mainstream media sources go for that.
Make them sympathize, or at least have a good motive. You know why Jason Voorhees is revered above others like Freddy Krugur or Michael Myers? Jason had a sympathizing past. He's not just a sick and twisted killer (though mostly he is) his motives are understandable, more so than Freddy or Michael.

I know absolutely nothing about this title. I beat ME 1 and 2 but not 3. Are they linked with the new title?
Is it bad that I never played the previous games but I want to play this game without knowing any backstories?
I just personally feel that if feminists said they were refusing to buy a game just because one developer said some sexist things you'd scoff, as would many people.
Nah, most of the backstory and characters are completely knew anyway., It's worth playing the first ones though!

It's set in the same universe, but a different galaxy. It's about the races of the milky way leaving during the reaper war to try to settle Andromeda.
They might make references, but this is a brand new story in a brand new galaxy.
It's not bad. I highly doubt you'll need to have played the previous games. Worst case scenario is that references go straight over your head.

Well god forbid we have any fun in our space adventure game.

It was fanservice - but it was enjoyable and the characters were superbly written.

So it's not just me that thinks this is Kaidan Alenko?
So long as their political views aren't forced into the game, I don't think it's very rational to automatically feel negative about the game itself.
I disagree with that statement. ME 3 is awesome. Especially if you're playing Renegade.
I liked 3, 2 is 10 times better however id play 3 over 1 just because of how tedious 1 can be to replay

I am glad they try something different than Shephard because they wrote themself in a corner with the Reapers

The ending is nowhere near as bad as the reaction from the vocal minority seems to say it is. It is mediocre. Nothing more and nothing less.

Let's agree to disagree.
More than the Reapers I believe that Archon will share some similitaries with good old...
Generic villains always disappoint and I don't know why so many companies and mainstream media sources go for that.

Hopefully they can follow through with all those choices...
Or they may just make this a new Mass Effect series, which I think would be a big waste of potential.
Why not?
Generic villains (expecially the crazy ones) are really easy to create for videogames where you just need that the big bad do during the game some cool stuff and a dumb philosophical speech to make the crowd believe that him/her is BEST VILLAIN EVER (until the next AAA game)
Calm down
I don't have a console and my interest in the game isn't all that high. Maybe it can change and maybe I will buy it in a more appropriate time.
Im not really expecting anything, i want to go into the game with an open mind. but then again, we all know EA, GREED OVER GAMEPLAY, cough cough Battlefront cough
My recommendations is wait for the game to come out and look up some spoiler free reviews or watch some playthroughs on youtube.
Meanwhile at EA headquarters
