Do you play videogames anymore?
I don't. I guess you could say I grew out of it. Personally I don't see the purpose in sitting down and wasting hours and hours of my time.
Life is about moving forward, not standing still. And if you're not moving forward, then you get left behind.
I'm not saying that you just stop playing video games, that's a choice that you have to make for yourself. I personally just don't see the sense, or even really the enjoyment of playing video games anymore.

It's just a fun thing to do. You overthink almost everything you know?
Yes, and I'm gonna keep doing so till the day I die. I might take a few breaks every now and again, but I would never completely quit.
That's a funny thing to say on a video game message board.
Let me guess,do you stop play videogames to watch 100+ tv shows?
Jokes aside it's normal for people to not like anymore a hobby (videogames, sports, comics ecc.) as they used to and decide to do something different;if you don't like anymore videogames just don't play them but I think that it's wrong say people that they shoud do the same.
Well, if you dont enjoy it sure, no reason to play video games, but as long as I enjoy something, I am gonna keep doing it, there is no point in being successful in life, if you dont enjoy it, I'd rather just enjoy life while I can
Then what are you doing on a game message board?
Of course.
Every day, and I don't plan to stop any time soon.
I wouldn't be on here if I didn't.
Hell no, video games are my passion since childhood and I don't plan on stop playing'em anytime soon.
Nah I'm just on this board to pick up chicks.
Played, play and will play Video games, board games, real life quests... everything!!! Give me MOAR games, lol
I'm definitely a gamer 4-life. If I live to be 100 years old, I'll be gaming on my 100th birthday.
But, hey, if you don't enjoy gaming, then by all means quit. But this whole thing about being left behind...that doesn't really hold up. It is entirely possible to play games and still do other things--it's not like gaming prevents you from doing anything else.
Sometimes if i finish a game, i will stop for a duration of time, but i would never get sick of playing video games. Even my PS2 games, i still play and enjoy them like when they first came out. It's a good way to escape the reality of the world for a bit and to make you feel happy.
The only thing i've really grown out of was the captain underpants books. I was in primary school when they were coming out all the time, then the writer took a few years off because his dad got sick and by the time he released the next book, i had grown up and didn't have that spark i had when i was younger, i've got all the books, i just haven't read them, ive been meaning to. i might be an adult now, but it doesn't mean i can't enjoy things like i did as a kid.
Of course
Surely going on a forum dedicated to a certain hobby then calling that hobby senseless and a waste of time is just trolling
whats stopping you from signing up to fishing or chess forums and shitting allover their hobbies
And isnt sitting online a waste of time anyway
Doesn't this thread sound a bit familiar? I swear I thought this thread was necrobumped or sth, but apparently you just made the same thread, except it has no discussion value like the last one.
I still play video games and don't plan on stopping anytime soon
What's the point of watching television? Or reading books? Entertainment.
Of course as you grow up less and less time is put into that and you have new priorities. That's great.
But I play games still. It's a great passtime.
That is usually the point of video games for fun and entertainment. Now if it is something that consumes your life and nothing else to the point it becomes and addiction then yes I could see a problem. I still play video games and I love them, but at the same time I have other hobbies and interest that I enjoy doing that balance it out.
I wouldn't be on a forum dedicated to discussing video games if I didn't play and enjoy them, would I? If you want to quit, then you can quit, but I just don't see the point of making this thread in the first place.
I don't play nearly as many games as I used to. I went from playing 3 games a year as a kid, to about 15-20 as a young adult, back to a handful a year now.
My life has come full circle and I'm only halfway done
The answer to the question in the title of this topic might not be as clear and obvious as most people think.
I personally don't really play games anymore. After finishing high-school I sort of stopped (not 100%, I still tend to play something briefly every few months but I am not sinking tons of hours everyday like I used to)
As game development is my hobby for 6+ years now, I spend a lot of time with games nonetheless but in the recent years I found myself enjoying the process of creation more than consumption. Maybe it's because my PC is quite old at this point and I can't run most of the "new" games, maybe it's because I am a bit retro-minded and most of the modern games fail to meet my expectations and demands.
If something catches my eye, I tend to check it out on YouTube and potentially study the design a bit, as watching one else play allows to process more data from the screen as opposed to when I would be focused on playing the game myself.
So technically I do not play games anymore, but I still spend a lot of time with them one way or another.
I gave up video games to focus more of my time to masturbating. It has turned out quite pleasurable.
Yes. It doesn't consume my life, though. I have a few friends, I have a decently paying job, and I dedicate what time I have to focus on my future as a filmmaker and my future as an adult in general. Gaming is just a fun hobby kinda like golf or chess. There's nothing that senseless about it.
Amen and Hallelujah.
It's like reading, Ive been doing it forever and I love the stories some games create; or the euphoria of winning a round in Overwatch, Video games help me with problem solving skills and are very entertaining. Every human needs entertainment, and no matter what everyone does something to keep them from boredom, and some people have better taste and choose to play video games. So, we may be "wasting" our times playing TWD but you are probably, to some of us, "wasting" your time on reading, or watching a tv show. Everyone has different interests.
Respect that.
Not as much as I used to. I'll probably only play when I get semester breaks for uni now
But if you don't play, good for you.
If I'm not busy playing the bass guitar and singing vocals for my new songs or up in the mountains hunting, then I'm playing video games for over 35 hours straight.
I don't think I'll ever completely abandon videogames. Sure, sometimes I feel like "uff, right now there isn't really anything good available, let's do other things instead" .. but eventually, good games appear again and that makes me come back to this hobby again.
I grew up with them and started to play them for fun. Over time, the art behind it.. such as story, characters, music.. all of that became the core of why I play, cherish and love videogames. Fun is actually a "byproduct".
To me, it's not wasting time at all. We all have different preferences and hobbies.
Person A prefers to spend their free time with going to parties, doing sports, going to the cinema with friends and whatnot. While person B rather stays at home to read a good book, cook some food or sink down in the fictional world of a videogame. And whatever you do, it's fine and no waste of time as long as it makes you feel good and enjoy your time on this planet.
Well I wouldn't be here if I didn't but I have reduced gaming time pretty drastically. I'm done with most games to be honest. Still on 360, will probably get Xbox One when price goes down a little as there is no point paying too much since I hardly play much games these days. I no longer really play games socially either and mostly just do it when i'm alone to kill time. Basically the only games i'm not bored of is games like The Walking Dead and Life is Strange. It's little to do with me moving foward, but just because the style of most games don't interest me anymore and have been done to death.
I think asking people of a certain generation if they play videogames is like asking people if they watch TV. It's just a main form of entertainment/killing time for people these days.
That's kinda like saying any hobby is useless.
I guess some people can go overboard with spending their time playing video games, but other than that it's just like watching TV, you know?
OT: I have never been a gamer, I've played very few games compared to all people here. Nowadays I just play Sims every second week because life.
Well, I did recently binge all the Resident Evil games excluding RE7. But other than that no, I don't play as nearly as much as I use to.
strong text Now that's the right attitude and spirit to have! Claps hands
Well, I'm playing Resident Evil Remake which is the one that introduced me to the franchise and it's my favourite RE game with RE4 being the second. I'm earning trophies to make me feel ready for Resident Evil 7.
