Saints Row Thread

Never have seen one for saints row (I'm sure at a point it existed) But that's mainly because a saints row game hasn't released for nearly 2 years now, 3 if you dont count gat out of hell, And I want another, Specifically to return to the SR2 formula

So the next best thing while we wait is to talk about the series, Character creations? Mods? Johnny Gat?

You'll find it all here!

I don't think there will be another Saints Row game, especially one like Saints Row 2. With many people complaining that it's a copy of gta and the developers creating Agents of Mayhem, I doubt it. Which kinda sucks for me because I liked all of their games, excluding Gat out of Hell.

  • Well the saint devs are producing a new game called agents of mayham. It is actually based in the same universe as the saints. I believe we'll see another one soon. Hopefully after agents of mayham.

  • There's a rumor that the next Saints Row will be a reboot. I think that'd be a bad idea, especially with the whole shared universe thing they're doing with Agents of Mayhem.

I would love to see the next Saints Row game tackle time travel. It would make sense given the story, and would be ripe for a bunch of Assassin's Creed jokes.

  • Hm, could just be a fresh start for the series but not a full on reboot. The time travel thing sounds like a really cool idea, I'd love to see all the jokes they could make on something like that. But raptors, I want raptors like in that DLC.

One of my favorite video game series. I actually played the series in opposite order. 4, 3 and then 2 and prefer the tone of 3 and 4.

  • Wow, I thought I was the only one who thought the insanity of the later entries was more enjoyable than the older Saints games.

  • They have already said that it won't return to the SR2 formula.

I was expecting Dex to return as villain in SR5 because I thought Zinyak would have saved him to use against me in case of defeat, but he's already dead in Gat out of Hell so complete waste of character, but there's time travel so the possibilities are endless for SR5

  • Tbh, I prefer the formula established after SR2. To me the games became more interesting and fun when they went batshit insane

  • I have had that opinion too for a long time. Saints Row 3 is what got me hooked onto the series.

I think that is a guarantee since the devs confirmed the "remake the earth" ending in Gat out of hell is canon. I think Agents of Mayhem takes place in the future of the rebooted timeline.

    I agree

  • Actually Volition have stated on their channel (Because unlike Telltale recently, They are very vocal to people about their games and other games) That the story IS NOT going to be shoehorned out and return to Saints Row 2, However with the canon ending of Gat Out Of Hell, They are going to return to a more realistic setting (I know, Kind of stupid after 3 and 4, Which where great GAMES but not very memorable all in all to me) So after Agents Of Mayhem, They apparently unless they change their minds, Will make that series the zany one, And make Saints Row 5 or the rebooted game or whatever more like a parody of GTA almost, Where it is TRYING to be serious but is absolutely fucking nuts, Thats what made SR2 great in my eyes, it wasn't shoving dicks and dildos in your face it was clever as fuck, But yes, it was like a GTA clone in a lot of ways, hope they fix that and make everyone happy, Because I have been playing Saints Row since 08 and love all of them, But they have a great opportunity here and they claim they know that as well...

  • Saint's Row 2 was the best. SR 4 just dragged on.

  • Yes, same! It was fun and exhilarating, not only that but the creation mode was greatly improved too (although a lesser range of clothing diversities). Saints Row The Third is my favourite.

    This is actually the first time hearing about AoM. It looks neat (only seen the cinematic trailer, and I read some details) but I'm sad there's no character creator mode. ;-;

I'm a long time saints fan, played them all and own them all. I know a lot of people like 2 the best. But honestly, for me anyway, I felt 3 was the best. The only problem it had was it was too short. I love the change in art direction, plus I think it was where the game actually developed it's own personality. Saint's 1 and 2 were always regarded as the GTA clone, but three really pushed away from that label. I loved that the saints weren't the typical gangbangers anymore, and they had more of a business outlook. I will admit that 2 had the best city and atmosphere. Stilwater actually felt alive, compared to boring steelport, and there were so many activities and customization options that were just ripped from the game after 2. As for saints 4, I just think they took what they were trying to do too far. I liked that 3 skirted the lines of insane, but 4 just went overboard. I enjoyed it, but it could have been better. If they do decided to continue the series, I just hope we'll still be playing with the original characters.
