I always enjoyed the first two seasons of The Boondocks due to their clever, mature, and realistic view of racism in American society. Despite being a comedy, the situations that it presented to the viewer often left them thinking about social issues in a intelligent and self reflective manner.

To be fair, The Boondocks was mostly a satire of black culture though, not white culture. It made a lot of ex-civil rights leaders really mad because it lampooned the ignorant and materialistic aspects of contemporary black culture. The white people were mostly props, with a few key exceptions. The concept is rather different to the one of this show.

  • The show looks boring. I dont care about racism here but it looks hella boring.

This is my favourite take on racism in Boondocks haha

  • I wish all of this shit would just stop. Can we PLEASE stop judging people based on their race? Stuff like this is just pouring more gasoline onto the fire.

"Dear White People" shouldn't be a thing. "Dear Black People" shouldn't be a thing. "Dear Latino People" shouldn't be a thing. It's all the same, with all judges on physical details and not with character. You can't just make something like "Dear Creative People"? or "Dear Smart People"? At least those titles are judging people's character and NOT what they look like.

  • Irony (?) It's a Korean studio that did the animation.

  • That is literally all it's about. It's called Dear White People. Have you seen the trailer? It was fucking gross.

I havent seen the movie. Is that what happens? Privileged black people telling equally priveliged white people how to live?

  • The movie was extremely unsuccessful. Why would anyone create a TV Series about a hugely unsuccessful movie? The show isn't "mocking" the everything is racist outrage (the creator literally tweeted "fuck white people" "no, seriously, fuck white people"), it was created to be racist against white people.

Hmm, I know this is the film from a few years ago but if anything it seems to mock the ridiculous everything is racist crowd. Anyway still a

So why does Dead White People get a free pass?

Because *Dear White People * is a social commentary on the black experience in a mostly white/occasionally racially insensitive college university, that also points the finger at black people n a few certain respects( like the idea of what it means to be black).

Dear Black People is basically Fox News.

  • And what exactly is the point of such a show called "Dear White People," with a black person narrating what we can and cannot do? (It's obvious no one should ever do black-face) but why make a show about the fucking obvious and play it off as if all white people take part in a disgusting act?

    Congratulations on missing the point.

You're stretching the truth. What makes you think they're accusing all whites of doing blackface? It seems more like they were chiding people who do blackface and those who think things like that are acceptable. If you don't fit into one of those groups, chances are you aren't the one being made fun of in that situation.

Chill out and examine this from a critical standpoint instead of assuming the worst based on the title.

Ugh I heard about this on Phillip DeFranco Show,he says it's fail marketing when he saw the trailer and he says it could be worth watching? But I don't think I will watch it.As much I enjoy political incorrectness shows and picking fun at things that make PC culture go crazy and start calling out racsism where it's not.

I think this show only gets a narrative from only a black women perspective and there view on things that happen around them, but no allowing others within differenet community not just the black community it gives me a reason why it could fail cause of that Marketing Fail, they just made in the trailer and why possibilitie of it happening could be true.

We have seen from what MTV,now does everyday(yeah they are truly anti-white,I mean have you seen there White People New Year's Resolution video?)That says much about them cause they are PC and SJW and they show it every time

Here's Philip DeFranco Video on it The Truth Of Dear White People also if it does urn out to be good? Then maybe I will give it a chance, but have to wait for reviews of it,first.

  • Yeah, I've honestly heard so many different things about what the actual show is supposed be, at least 2 of them contradicting each other.

Right, I'm the "snowflake," here whose gotten upset....

While I am sure it will be misguided or condescending...how can you judge?

Asks the condescending, misguided, judgemental person. Anyway, I can "judge," as you put it because last I checked, I'm entitled to an opinion.

  • Apparently you fail at understanding simple concepts like satire, because from that trailer it pokes fun at race baiting...white privilege and sjw. Ultimately it sees the entire race issue as a stupid farce for the most part. But sure...if you are a stupid ultra liberal...you can just blindly say...Yep...tell it to those stupid conservative racists. Or you can be pissed about it if you are some conservative dick bag who seems to think any time someone talks about race...they are being reverse racist to them.

  • It's called "Dear White People." Is it not? "White People" aren't a segment of the white race; saying "white people" sounds like you mean every white person. If they don't mean to direct this at all white people, they should have called it "Dear Racists." A shitty title for a shitty show. I can't really chill out when I see racism from wherever it's coming from.

  • Jack Moore - this series' writer - wasn't a part of the 2014 movie, and no writer whatsoever has been credited for the 2017 series on IMDb yet.

However, this very much appears to be the correct Jack Moore, evident by the age correlation, and the fact he shares a middle name with the official twitter account. Basically, everything checks out.

    Jack P Moore.

    Born John PATRICK Moore.

Granted, I'm not 100% sure, but I'm not far off. If it is wrong, however, do say and show so, and I shall edit my post accordingly.

Will point out that this Jack Moore isn't on the IMDB credits of either the 2014 movie or the 2017 series.
