Right, I'm the "snowflake," here whose gotten upset....
Well, yes...you are coming off as upset and whiney.
Asks the condescending, misguided, judgemental person. Anyway, I can "judge," as you put it because last I checked, I'm entitled to an opinion.
Not being condescending....I am flat out calling it as I see it based on the facts at hand...your rambling posts.
Sure you are entitled to an opinion...but as you have not seen this...you are not offering an opinion...but running to wild speculation and assumptions. Opinions usually have some facts to offer.
A conservative snowflake...getting upset while admitting to not having viewed anything of this guy.
Right, I'm the "snowflake," here… more whose gotten upset....
While I am sure it will be misguided or condescending...how can you judge?
Asks the condescending, misguided, judgemental person. Anyway, I can "judge," as you put it because last I checked, I'm entitled to an opinion.
The whole premise behind it is a bunch of privileged black students telling white people what they can or cannot do. The show is literally called "Dear White People." That's racist, is it not?
You said outright that the show is actual racism against whites. I don't think you can even say that as a guess without watching the original film (and I've watched the trailer for it and it doesn't look racist).
I said in the vent thread a while back how shit MTV News is, as they made a similar video with "Dear white people" about new years resolution or whatever, I was hoping the trailer was parodying the biased racism from that as both talked about the same exact thing.
When I saw the trailer for the original movie (where they actually showed both sides of the issue) I thought the title was in itself a parody of the habit some people have of calling out all white people (like that god-awful MTV video). I honestly thought this new trailer was awful because the main character came off as extremely arrogant, so I do think it's possible that they marketed the series in the wrong way.

So, what? He should have just launched random ad hominem attacks - "liberal snowlfake!" - like you did, instead?

Snowflake
I havn't even heard of this guy. Isn't he white though? Does this brainwashed poor sap have no dignity? The most disgusting part is it shouldn't have that many likes. But ofcourse everyone follows whatever a sjw celeb says.
I havent seen the show yet naturally, but I dont think the purpose of it is to "race bait" but just to shine a light on the black experience… more.
Oh, like this?
This is what I love about Netflix. They arent afraid to take chances.
Well, they aren't afraid to engage in publicity stunts, no.
There is literally some type of film or show for almost everyone.
Which I agree is good - and of course Netflix can make what they want, and people can watch what they want, but personally this seems dreadful to me (not that, again, the reactions have been any better).
You're "assuming the worst, based on the title" again.
A shitty title for a shitty show. I can't really chill out when I see racism from wherever it's coming from.
Dear lord, please get off your high horse. You're opposing an attack on your delicate sensibilities, not racism. This kinda thing is why I brought up the persecution complex earlier.
It's called "Dear White People." Is it not? "White People" aren't a segment of the white race; saying "white people" sounds like you mean ev… moreery white person. If they don't mean to direct this at all white people, they should have called it "Dear Racists." A shitty title for a shitty show. I can't really chill out when I see racism from wherever it's coming from.
I'm sorry, but that is complete horse shit. A lot of white people still do it? Bullshit. Prove it and I'll give in, but you can't prove such… more an outrageous claim that happens to be so far from the truth. They reason they are making this show is because they are fucking racist.
I'm actually kinda surprised at how many people on here are calling the show racist. I was under the impression that these forums were pretty left-leaning.
Guys, please behave and cut it out with the condescending exchanges on both sides - be it the strawmanning of the movie's context (or the history of the writers), or the jabs at people who are bothered by this (or general double standards in regards to certain social trends). It's getting rather tiresome. We're open to an exchange of different ideas here, but please try to be mature and civil about it.
If you find the premise of this movie tacky or offensive, please find a better and more mature way to get the point across than comments about "SJWs" or "snowflakes."
If you don't care about the controversy over this movie, please try to get your point across in a non-condescending manner that does not involve personally insulting people or taking jabs at their expense for being offended.

Touchy subjects can sometimes bring out touchy responses, so it's not entirely a surprise. But, I am disappointed at how the discussion turned to insults or passive aggressive exchanges coming from some people on both sides of the issue.

Well I don't support racism either way but it's just the name of a show. Also I don't see why people are complaining over this when people make black jokes on let's say idubz videos and they don't judge him for saying the n word. I have a white mom and a black dad which makes me half but I don't understand why it's a bigger deal when white people are made fun of it has to be a big deal not saying one race is better than another but seriously I just can't believe people are complaining over a show.
No, the character is just fed up watching acts and displays of racism committed, especially around her college campus by mostly whites( like the blackface shots in the trailer). She's strong-willed and using her talk show to confront these issues on campus, not to act like the ultimate authority.
Problem is that the trailer doesn't show any glimpse into the character's motivation other than students wearing blackface, and as such the character instantly comes off as arrogant.

I think there's feeling this show will be a failure,I mean i think it's there and it had a bad marketing way of drawing controversy it's starting to have that same effect like Ghostbusters 2016 remake feeling where it had to attack people (couldn't be doing, but feels like it)
I still won't watch just like how I didn't watch Ghostbusters 2016 remake cause I had this feeling where it felt underwhelming and attacking people(which in this case was clearly a bad move and very stupid move)like men and making things like always putting characters in different sterotypical ways in the movie which was very very cringery and bad and not to mention it was always going to fail cause of what Dear White People is having with the dislikes in there trailer.
But I will maybe watch it when I hear instead of reviews from Youtubers who have seen it.Kinda like when I was waiting for Angry Joe's Review on Movies a before he did the spoilers video,he is better to have and it gets me to watch his perspective and why it did this? Why how feel it was to audiences? That's sometime I will wait on and I'm not trying to be hate but it feels like that somehow when I'm seeing hate on the dislike bar.

Really? So that's what she is saying about me and others who say with there opinions about this?Like I understand going after a movie.but how is this basically means we are "Defenders Of The White Way" I'm just wondering about that?pls tell me how talking about this show is related to that?
Because some of you are having a hard time when the inequities of the past come up for debate....not you so much strwar3...but there are others who seem fine not facing the fact that shady shit has gone down and is still going down.

OK still bringing that up doesn't help about what is being debated here like I feel like this show will fail cause of bad marketing and how it will go down has a failure.that's not on me that clearly on the people who wrote it.also I'm pretty sure you didn't help in this thread, just saying glad you clarify on that

So I go to sleep for a few hours and come back to this.
Yeah I came across plenty of Jack Moore's when I searched, but we still don't have anything to say this guy is involved other than his word.

Politics in a nutshell, xbox.

Thanks for posting this. I pretty much expected this type of response when I made the thread, which is pretty saddening.

Yeah, it's pretty pathetic to see what political and social discourse has turned into (and this isn't just a reflection of these forums).

Holy cow! You have missed a lot.
No. Megaodg is just being ignorant.
Just watch FOX News.

I'm sure anyone of any color can agree that dumb frat boys and girls can be the WORST.
Pretty much true
I am making up a new acronym for some of the people on here. DWW Defenders of the White Way.
What does that mean?
So basically the KKK.
Greatest film ever made.
One of the best comedies I've ever seen.
No...I do not think they are...I just think they prefer the status quo as it is.

I thought you said trailer. The Netflix thing was all of 30 seconds and the gross part to me was the blackface for Halloween.
