What are some things you'd love to see in The Last Of Us part 2?
Personally I'd love to play as Joel again. And I'd love to get a dog in the game, one that we can not only command to attack enemies, but also one that we can personally take control of for certain stealth/combat missions or objectives.
Similar to what we did in Dead To Rights Retribution, as is shown here. Sorry if the quality of some of them, like perhaps having to listen to player's annoying commentary, is poor.
How about you?
What would you like to see in The Last Of Us part 2?

I'm totally fine if Joel isn't playable as long as he lives through the sequel. The theory that Joel in the teaser trailer is just Ellie's hallucination is fustrating me.
Here is what I want to see:
I don't have much to say. I feel this is going to be better than Part 1 like Uncharted 2 being better than Uncharted 1.

Version for PC.
Too bad because Naughty Dog is owned by Sony.
I want to see the moment humanity dies out...when Joel admits to Ellie he lied...she shoots him in the face and then eats a bullet because she is horrified he chose to kill everyone because he was a jackass.
That would have been a bad-writing. I don't see why Naughty Dog would kill one of their most beloved characters like that. Also who is everyone? He killed people I didn't give a shit about.
First of all, I'm afraid the game won't be as good as the first one. Don't get me wrong, I wish devs all the best, but I can't get rid of a feeling they explored the deepest part of Ellie-Joel relationship and everything that's left will be reused or simply the same. TLOU has set the bar high, and now the expectations are huge. It will be extremely hard to equal or surpass them. I hope the game won't disappoint me, as I love it to bits and I would be devastated (not really, but you got the idea).
I want TLOU2 to keep all the little things, all the letters, graffitis, trails and survivors' stories, which has shown there was a real world full of real people and all of them were struggling to survive. We are not the special snowflake to go through this hell, there are hundreds and hundreds of other people walking beside us.
I'd like the game to show/explain what has happened in the space between both games, as we clearly timeskiped through time and space.
I need to see more of the cities, their organisation, authorities, rules and how do they look in general. It would be nice to walk on the streets as a free player, as in TLOU we've spent most of the time in the sewers. and after Outlast I absolutely hate sewers
One realism, please. Medicine is outdated, food long overdue. People are short on bullets, machines are rusted and cars are wrecks. The wood is decayed, stone cracks, buildings are nothing more than traps, as everything could collapse any minute. Nature consumes whole towers and houses - we're almost 30 years into the apocalypse, am I right?
His inability to get over his daughter being murdered so he uses Ellie as a replacement and then dooms humanity just so he can have someone as a replacement is bad writing. And she was sort of annoying.
The infected didn't kill his daughter, people killed her. Joel encountered a lot of crazy people who don't know how to make a living. If he do, it would have been the same as Sarah, he would have been alone again surronded by people who destroyed his life. Joel didn't want to make the same mistake again. Also, how are the Fireflies supposed to fix everything? The infected aren't humans anymore.
Terrible excuse to hate Ellie.
I wouldn't say Joel's actions were bad writing, very morally questionable and I can't blame others for disapproving of what he did, but it seemed in character for Joel.
This story seems to be centered around hate and vengeance, which is fine, It's always interesting when characters go dark. But I think some lighthearted moments would be good. I'd love a couple moments of peace where characters just talk and have some fun.
I'd also like to see Tommy return as a major character, assuming that he doesn't die in the prologue. He was one of my favorites along with Bill in the first game. I really liked him and want to see more of him.
I also want Ellie to be the main protagonist, but I'd still be fine with Joel in the spotlight, would just prefer it be the other way around.
It's debateable whether the Last of Us is an apocalyptic setting. The world has gotten very bad and much of humanity have become twisted monsters but there's still civilization. Military outposts, society, academys etc...
I would expect to see the fungus to mutate these infected people into something really fucked up more so than before. Perhaps more animal enemies as well. Imagine those giraffes but as fungus monsters, no one can escape their long necks of doom!
Ellie is in fact the main character in this one, it's confirmed by Neil Druckmann himself.
Actually it is a great excuse...if you do not find a character to be likable or they just rub you the wrong way....then yes...not a fan.
It would be cool to have like, a role reversal, Much in the same way with Telltales TWD season 1 and 2, that we play as Ellie for part 2, and then maybe have a segment where Joel is playable, or a third character, I just hope Ellie is the main character this time around, since I feel like Joels character arc has been completed, and I really enjoyed the winter segment in The Last of Us
But he technically did not lie, the Fireflies did stop looking for a cure, since everyone on the cure project was killed, I know its a technicality, but I think thats why he promised that everything he said about the fireflies was true, because technically he did not lie.
Also, I completely understand Joels reaction, there is no way I would sacrifice anyone that means as much to me as Ellie means to Joel, just for the potential of a cure, Ellie never asked to be immune, she shouldnt have to take responsibility for that
I think most people would do what he did honestly, I know I would, if I had a girl that I loved like a daughter, or had a daughter, I sure would not sacrifice her for the POTENTIAL of a cure, a cure is not even a certainty, also, after seeing what humanity has become, why should I sacrifice someone I love for the potential of saving them?
I dunno about Ellie learning to swim, I always thought it was cute how she couldnt swim, and relied on Joel, but since she is apparently the main character this time around (which I like), she would probably have to learn to swim
It would definitely be very interesting to at least see a falling out between Joel and Ellie, although I do hope its not just Joel and Ellie walking through the apocalypse again, but with Ellie as the main character, I hope they split up, do different things, for example you could like, have to approach an outpost or something, so Joel has to do one thing, while Ellie does another
I doubt they would turn it into a settlement building game or something like that, I think they know that The Last of Us was popular due to its very cinematic feel, it was very much about the story, but in the game medium
Dont know if I would like nonlethal options, I think part of The Last of Us, and The Walking Dead for that matter, is the fact that the apocalypse shows how horrible humans are.
I already thought that quite alot of the story was told during gameplay, you had optional speech options with Ellie, which deepened their relationships, they had random dialogue such as Ellie learning to whistle and stuff
Maybe keep the ladder lifting and dumpster pushing to a minimum, agreed
It is confirmed that Ellie the PC for the entire game.
Yeah, I looked into it after writing this comment actually, I am really excited, I know it was not popular with everyone, but the role reversal from Lee to Clem from season 1 and 2 of the Walking Dead was one of my favorite parts of season 2, so I am really excited to get to play as Ellie, since she is one of my favorite characters in recent video games
I actually liked how Ellie was unable to swim, it gave some charm to her otherwise hardened attitude, a weakness, but I guess if she is the main character she will probably have to be able to swim, since I hope she isnt followed around by Joel the entire game
Yeah, that was more of a joke-y statement, I know they won't do it.
And I want even more of that.
It would be very cool if you could speak to people you meet on your travels or whatever, since I sincerely hope that the game wont just be Joel following Ellie around for the entire thing, I wont mind Joel being in the game, but it would feel too similar to the first game if Joel was just following her around, I want to see what Ellie is able to on her own, especially now that she is older, considering how well she handled herself at the age of 14
Definitely disagreeing on that being bad writing.
That would be great. And stuff like in the beginning of the first game, where you can approach a soldier that pushes you away if you walk too close to them, and if you do it twice you get shot.
I remember that little bastard.
I was like: Hi friend, how you doi- why are you drawing your gun-
WTF man? I just started playing ;-;
I like the Last of Us 1 very much. To me, it's near perfect.
I just think that Naughty Dog should just add to and fix a bit of what they already have, and it'll be good.
Maybe some new game mechanics can work. Some new weapons. Anything to be honest.
Funnily enough, I actually did on my first playthrough of the game.
[push]
"Do that again and you'll regret it."
"Suuure I will..."
[push] -- Aaand now I'm dead. Ok then.
Realism when it comes to shooting enemies. If I shoot an enemy in the heart with a magnum I expect them to die and not by a punch to the face.
NoMoreWoodenPalletPuzzles
hahah ikr
Well, they dont need to teach Ellie to swim to avoid wooden pallets, wooden pallets were just another way to prevent you from progressing, just like Ladder puzzles and Dumpsters.
But I definitely agree, we dont need wooden pallet puzzles, or if they do, only 1 or 2, one of the bad things about The Last of Us was how they reused the same gimmick over and over to stop progression (Ladders, water and Dumpsters)
