Twitch 24 hr gameing streams and Marathon Sessions: How dangerous are they?

As you may know by now, a Twitch Streamer, going by the moniker of Poshybrid, known as just Poshy by most has passed on. His death occured at around hr22 of a 24hr charity stream. Poshy was just 35, and leaves behind three kids. As a gamer now in his forties,I find this very disturbing. Over the years I've done a few 24 hr sessions with friends. Apparently we've been dodging death this whole time! If anyone would like to donate to help his family a fund has been setup in his name. Just type Poshy fund into Google, as of this posting $6500 or so has been raised. What are your thoughts on this sad and strange situation? Rip Poshy, Dragonfire291, out!

  • It shouldn't be something allowed by streaming services like YouTube or Twitch to allow streams of 24 hrs+ as like you said, It can be deadly, and maybe you and your friends were dodging death as the probable fact that you guys took a few minutes of rest

  • It's truly a sad story and my heart goes out to his family, don't get me wrong, but I feel like there's more to the story. 24 hour marathons certainly aren't healthy, but they alone shouldn't be deadly.

I've read that he was going out for a smoke. That definitely has to be a factor. I don't know how true this is, but I've also heard he had recently just got another 24 hour stream with little sleep in between.

They'll likely reveal more in the coming weeks, but I certainly believe there were multiple factors involved.

  • Its important to have things like water and Gatorade. To go along with your Beer, food and cigarettes. And yes, rest as well. This stream was For Make A Wish foundation. I was not watching but have caught a few of his other charity streams. He seemed to know when to break. Twitch has some faqs for this reason. I wouldn't hold Twitch, YouTube or anyone responsible till all facts are in. To this point his family has not confirmed what happend. But the authorities stated no foul play. "Sources"say Heart attack. But nothing is confirmed. All we know is he died. Very sad...try to do something good then poof...

  • Theres Irony here for me. Dad used to warn me not to stay up for 24hrs. Said he almost died from it....Time to apologize .
