Well they use to be my favorite company, then The Walking Dead A new frontier happened and then that failed AMA by Job. So yeah I'm quite indifferent with them.
Pre-2016 Telltale is my favorite video game company. Period. TWD S1, GOT, TWAU, etc. So many good games to choose from.
But right now? Not really that much anymore. Right now, their games are either waaaayyy too kid-friendly (Minecraft), is an insult to the source material (Batman), or have terrible character treatments (TWD S3).
This will go well
I used to think they were a great company during TWD s1 era. Today I have lost all hope for Telltale since a lot of key people have left and the quality and writing for TWD has gone way down. I might ditch the forum and future Telltale products if things don't get better.
Been a fan since Sam & Max, but didn't become a true fan until the Wolf Among us. I still greatly enjoy their stuff, and I'm very much looking forward to what they have planned coming up.
I also think the way they handle their fans is awful. We are loyal fans and we give them a lot of helpful criticism yet they claim we are a minority and refuse to listen to us.
They've made some of my best video game experiences. TWD seasons 1 and 2 and Game of Thrones are probably my favorite video game stories, to the point where they were making me emotional because I cared about the characters so much. TWAU and TFTB were memorable as well.
That being said, I absolutely loathe how business has been of late. Their games are buggy to the point of breaking the games and making them impossible to complete. Their new CEO shamelessly lied about ANF and the quality of their games has gone down significantly with their growth despite him insisting that that wouldn't happen. They seem intent on focusing on a new audience while taking their loyal fan base for granted. To say I am disappointed in this company would be a gross understatement. I have bought every Telltale episode on release day since TWD s1, but now I'm 95% sure that I wont be continuing after ANF.
Insult to the source material? The hell makes you say that?
Ignore him...he has no idea what Batman is.
Dull characters, bad engine, way too many bugs, and I hated that the Joker was in it when he wasn't supposed to.
Or basically: TTG's Batman is nothing but a combo of the two worst Batman games ever made: Arkham Origins and Arkham Knight.
Shitstorm in 3,2...
They gave me three of my favorite games in recent years (TWD S1, TWAU & TFTB) but I wish they'd take some risks with their formula: Even if it works, all their projects have been sharing the same exact structure / backbone for years now. For every new game, they're basically changing the skin, adding a specific small feature when needed and rolling with it. It doesn't seem that will change in the near future. It sounds more insulting than I am intending, but Telltale almost feels like a factory sometimes.
Plus, I know this is (way) more complicated than that, but I really feel the "EP1 was too long so we had to split it in two" thing for A New Frontier is just a way to make me buy 4 episodes for the price of 5. Seems a bit shady by the way they presented it (and the way I see it, I know I'm not necessarily right on that one) and I'll keep that in mind next time I'll consider buying a Telltale game.
Edit: Also, beside that I did not really enjoy Batman's story, the way they released it was unnaceptable. I encountered many bugs, crashes, translation issues, framerate issues... on every episode (PS4). It baffles me they released every episodes this way
I dont like telltale anymore. I will finish TWD but the newer games will only be bought if they are good and in a 50% or more sale. I wont support telltale fully anymore. Its their own fault.
A company that made two of the best story games I've ever played TWD S1 and TWAU. Ever since 2014 things have gotten worse and worse and now they're plummeting
It's like a couple but always with problems .......
Oh and they will split up after ANF ends...sad story bruh
Liked them until they started to release one series after another instead of focusing on a season 2 or 3 of other games. Cough Wolf among Us, Games of Thrones, half assed TWD Season 3 (aka let's split an episode into 2 and make them even shorter, jane and kenny, clem's role, smaller and and less interactive hub menus etc). Announcement of Batman and Guardians of the Galaxy was quite annoying to me, to be honest.
The amount of bugs still not fixed. I still can't create a 2nd save on ps4 walking dead season 1.
I purchased Minecraft story mode on disc and wanted to download the rest of season 2 trough DLC. I paid for the season pass. It seems like you can't download stuff directly from the store. I basically paid for air, because purchasing the season pass from the store doesn't work. I had to freaking wait weeks for a refund and buy the season pass from the game menu.
Dull characters? Dull? Huh? They're all unique and new takes on old and stereotypical villains, I get you like the old ones better but Telltale created some of the best characters ever in Batman. I assume that's why you said they were an insult to the source material - because they were different, but I guess you'd rather see the good old fat goofy penguin we're used to. That on the other hand wouldn't be dull at all, right? Next, you hate that the most iconic of Batman's enemies actually appeared in a Batman game? Even when his role was completely small and seemingly irrelevant? Suure. As for the bug part, maybe you should consider that not every port runs the same. I had no problems on my computer. Oh, and Origins and Knight are nowhere near the worst Batman games ever created. The Arkham series is not the only video game adaptation of Batman.
LoL...that did not even make any sense. Perhaps if you could actually articulate your reasons for disliking it without whining like the last time people asked you about it..I would take you seriously.
You hated that the Joker was in it when he wasn't supposed to be. What kind of argument is that? Where you in on the planning sessions and get the strait dope from the writers on that? Dull characters? Sorry they did not have Batmite..I know you were hoping for him. The bugs...yeah I give you that.
i still like them, but its clear that they arnt putting a lot of effort in some of their games. Or that they seem to favor some games over others
A company that makes great games, but is completely dysfunctional when it comes to management and has a terrible relationship with its fanbase.
Used to think of them as one of the best gaming companies out there. Recently though, with their new releases and their fan interaction (which has kinda always been bad) I've not been impressed. I don't exactly know what it is, but I feel like they're trying... too hard lately? Not only has the pacing been bad, but it feels like they're trying to force emotions down our throats and add more useless action scenes to make casual players more interested. I don't know, it's hard to explain what I feel. I just wish they had competition, so they would have more pressure to produce good quality.
There are very few companies that make the type of games that Telltale does, which is dialogue focused, story driven games, the only other games that comes to mind are Witcher and Mass Effect, and even they are fundementally different, the only game I have been genuinely disappointed by from Telltale is A New Frontier, but that still has the potential to be great, and its not all bad, I was just hoping for more Clementine, oh well, there is always season 4 (I hope).
I genuinely enjoy their style of games, even if choices dont really matter in the grand scheme of things, I really enjoy getting into character, and having the option to respond like I think the character would.
I can't give this a proper answer until at least the release of the next ANF episode.
I don't think they listen to the (original) fans and have forgotten what made their games so special.
Also they have terrible PR. I wish they did better but thats not going to happen.
Telltale is currently my favorite videogame company. With TWD S1, TWD S2, TWAU, TFTBL and MC:SM being some of my most favorite games ever.
And yes, I like MC:SM and TWD S2.
Half of their games I really really like (TWD s1, TWAU, TFtB, GoT) and half I think are mediocre to bad (the rest). So ya a decent company that just refuses to up their game so unless the story really knocks it out of the park their games tend to be whatever.
I've loved them since I discovered them and always will.
They're having a rough year but they'll pull through. They always have.
I used to praise the games they made but I have to admit, ever since TWDGS1 was finished, they started making choices have less effect on the story and relationships, things were becoming more static in that sense, episodes were getting shorter, more and more action was being added to the point that there was little time to reflect and less game-play was added (which didn't seem that possible). I still enjoy TTG's latest games, but I feel like they truly have gone downhill, and despite making many great games, as the years go by, the newer ones seem to end up having more and more flaws but I won't give up on the company.
I actually like that the choices you make doesn't actually affect much, because I don't have time to replay games. But, I think that Telltale's choice of titles to work on are desired to be better. Their writing talent can be put to better use.
Don't really care about the games it making now. I could wait all day long or even years. Nothing hypes me up now.
Why you`re not banned ?
What you hate at A new frontier ? (Is my favorite the walking dead season)
hope so
I really donno why all hate graphic is not that bad and, game is based on story...
