To be honest while I enjoy the Mass Effect games I don't the story's are that good. ME2 a game I played 5 times untill now has such a thin plot I just didn't really care and ME3 story is... Yeah nevermind it but I do probably give this games story a change
Total numbers aren't there, no. But, physical retail sales are tracked outside of the company and Inquisition(unlike Mass Effect, wasn't exclusive and that's important) did outsell Mass Effect 2 and 3 for first month sales none the less. Inquisition wasn't a blockbuster, no, but it did well. Well enough that the series is still profitable.
I can easily look past models and animation, but I'm also an old man to most here whom grew up in a time you had to look past those things.
I heard that Inquistion didn't do well financially? They never gave out specific numbers, and the online reputation seems to be an overly ne… moregative one in reflection.
The terrible character models and animations are something I don't think I can get over, along with some strange voice acting and writing, would take me out of the experience.
Not to mention I don't preorder, ever, it's not like I'm impatient for a game that might suck and flop.
Doesn't matter if they hate a game and return it, people already gave them money, that's a big problem that a fair amount of people seem to keep glossing over, Mafia 3 especially was a train wreck of naive purchasing decisions.
Inquistion had a lot of hype but doesn't appear to be remembered fondly, it doesn't have as long a life span as Origins in that regard. Witcher 3 sold about five times as much supposedly. I highly doubt many people bought the dlc for example.
The thing is, the older models and animations in previous DA and ME were less advanced, but also, ironically, looked a lot better. Minimal natural movement is better than freakish uncanny valley and clipping/stretching bodies. Hair looked nicer due to the art style in Dragon age origins/2, faces initially appeared a bit more natural, generally it was more bearable. (Also beards didn't hover in front of faces).
I really don't get how this stuff got through quality control.

An interesting note is that Inquisition and Andromeda were/are both handled by different studios. Where Inquisition was primarily developed at the main studio in Edmonton, Andromeda is being developed at the secondary studio in Montreal(while the primary studio is developing a mystery/new IP).
A fact. Nothing really to ponder though as development leads were sent to Montreal to head the project and Montreal was responsible for some of the contributions to the Mass Effect games that people really liked(the games were previously started in Edmonton, then finished in Montreal. That's how they came out so quickly in succession).
Anyway. I agree with Inquisition not being as note worthy, but I feel that was mainly due to the story not having the gravity the first two did. There were no monumental choices or shocking events. It featured a villain that relied heavily on the player having played the DLC to the previous game. When your story isn't very memorable, the lackluster gameplay and characters, are much more visible.
People were also pretty upset with the story DLC. Another case of having to pay for the "real ending". A whole lot was explained in that DLC and a whole lot of people missed out. If anything, Bioware needs to cut the crap with expecting people to play DLC. That's twice now... In the same series(three, if you include Anders explanation about Justice in 2 being confusing).

So, not only is Origin allowing a generous pre-load period(3 days), but the game is being unlocked at 12am EST. That's good for me since that's like 10pm, while I'm on vacation.
I've still stuck to my guns in not having watched any of the extended videos as I don't want to see things out of context and be swayed. I'm old schooling it and just find everything out when I play it.
The character creator is horrible. You can no longer change the shape of your eyes, nose, etc. The eyebrows won't change color to match your hair color either.
Oh boy I saw it that. But I saw the gameplay and boy I saw the YouTube and Twitch communities who got a early review copy to show us the game and Man it's fuckin good and soooo much information and soo much stuff to do in the game.I'm going to enjoy it but sad for the character creation.
The character creator is horrible. You can no longer change the shape of your eyes, nose, etc. The eyebrows won't change color to match your hair color either.
I am not hyped. I do have a theory though. This game is EA giving it one last hurrah, one final suckling at their cash cow's teats before they take it out back and put it down.
Not caring: releasing 17 minutes of a squadmate's loyalty mission on IGN, who is kinda their only friend right now outside their echo chamber.
Warning: contains spoilers. Not that someone up there, Bioware or EA, give a dang.
This right here. They're uploading this because they don't care anymore, so why should we?
Here's said squadmate firing a carnifex backwards...
And pooping on lore...
And I'm not seeing any improvement on the facial animations. We go from Inquisition (a game with its own strengths and flaws I find satisfying overall), which had some quality scenes and animations (particularly of the face for the sake of the comparison), to this that you see not more than 5 minutes into the video of the Twitch stream posted above me.
Some stuff we know, that I have gripes about:
Ryder has a true AI linked up to his nervous system and reading his body lifesigns at any given moment, throwing the fear of AIs and their sanctions against them out the window (this is before Mass Effect 3 ended, so the fear and predjudice of true AIs (as opposed to VIs) should still be present and strong, but...it's not? By the way, when you're banging an alien (which is what Andromeda's all about), all you have is its word that it will shut off, or just close its eyes and plug its ears and not gather any data or record the "event". But nah, no one's afraid, no one's skeptical or paranoid.
The Andromeda initiative isn't finished, but they launched anyway, and it's up to you to add some upgrades to the ship in order to pull more people out of cryo.

Quarians somehow got ahold of a geth masterstroke of ingenuity just floating around on the edge of the Perseus Veil, because the geth wouldn't guard it heavily and keep it out of the Perseus Veil where they are, in dark space. No they totally would. Why is this thing here? Oh, to explain how they got scans of a galaxy that is so billions of light years removed from the Milky Way.
The main resources you have to mine are water and ice(WATER). Can't melt the ice, can't freeze the water, They don't have a giant freezer for that. They don't have cryopods we could repurpose for that.
Aaryn Flynn bragging that they got the full nudity clause. We're so impressed, m8. "Come buy our game, now with krogan peen and bazooms." Well, I'm sold. 6_6
More in videos by Smudboy about how it doesn't deserve the hype people are giving it. Who is my idol, if that's not grossly apparent to you now.
Tell me which text on Earth has our lore 100% correct?
EDIT: I'm not a fanboy for anything, but I'm willing to give anything a chance.
You know what? I've had a bottle of wine and I just want to play the game and see for myself. I see the review copies aren't doing very well, but I recall the first Mass Effect being an incredibly slow burn with annoying and tedious parts... and I still enjoyed it in all.
Yeeaaah that killed a lot of my excitement tbh. Guess I'll be going with the ponytail again. Heard some more options are going to be added to the day 1 patch but we'll see.
Edit: I was wrong, Ian Frazier said they might patch it sometime down the road though. Hopefully sooner rather than later, cuz you don't have to look far to see that many people are not happy with it.

10 hours early access is coming out tomorrow guys, you have to get a subscription to the EA Access first but while you're subscribed you also get discounts on games such as Andromeda, all in all you actually gain a small amount of money on your purchase.
There's been a lot of negativity surrounding this game but I can't wait to get my hands on it and judge it for myself. Movie night, here I come!
I don't know right now. I looked up a few spoiler-free reviews last night and the big consensus is that it isn't Mass Effect 2 engaging and folks are grumbling about it. I don't mind games starting off slow. As I said, I still really enjoyed the first game of the series. The fact remains that I didn't see great reviews about it. I got a lot of feelings of disappointment from reviewers. I don't care though. I'm going to judge it for myself. Reviewers don't play the game for 50+hrs and immerse themselves. They critique(and in the case of youtube, they try to be entertaining and memorable). Always important to remember that.
I'm seeing better reviews now. They're echoing the same sentiment, but in a positive manner. Words like "richer", "overwhelming", "detailed". These positive reviews also reiterated the lesser focus on straight up action. So yeah, not Mass Effect 2.
Sounds fine to me.

I think if people are giving it some negativity around this game?Is because they might get in the AME so early and I think it's looking gold from the gameplay and how it looks like graphics and the mechanica in the game too.
Good Luck @CatySky and I'm looking forward to getting too on Tuesday

I like that they moved all the attention from Sara Ryder to Scott Ryder, he is "default" Ryder now. And lets all admit it. He looks way better than the monstrosity that is called Sara.
Sometimes, I feel like the only one who genuinely have no problem with how Sara looks. I mean sure, her face can be slightly uncanny, but once I got used it to, I find her rather adorable and attractive in her own way. And I like her smile, it just give her a distinct playful personality from her brother.

I'm very excited about this game, the dislike and hatred towards it only makes me want to play it more, the best games don't come without resentment, although I am going to wait a while, I want to know exactly how open world it is - personally I'm not a big fan of open world as I sometimes end up wasting minutes to hours in large open spaces ;-;, I'm also interested in how in-depth relationships are, I'm really hoping that romancing the non-squadmates will be DA:I tier at the least and I hope that friendship routes don't end quicker than romance ones, also, I'm honestly not that excited about all these different upgrades, everything feels overly-expansive to me but that may just be due to being more used to how the first three ME games were with all of the above. I'm sure the game will be enjoyable but I'll wait to see what other people say about it first.
Honestly, the thing I'm looking forward to the most about Andromeda is the crowbcat video.
Honestly, some of the harsher previews, especially the Gamespot one, just started to kill off what little hype I had left. It being a newstudio plus the reported 5 years of development hell certainly doesn't help either.

I'm interested in the fact that you can push Peebee off of you when she tackles you to the ground.

Jesus christ the animations look like they were animated by a fifth grader.
I like her too. There was that gameplay video from a while ago that gave her a really weird expression but I haven't seen anything weird since then.
I guess they're not picky since they technically are genderless themselves (if I recall correctly).
Those are some very skilled fifth graders then lol I can barely animate a stick figure xD
