  • I have it on PS4 so mods won't help me. I'm really hoping the story and game play are great. Based on what I've heard I shouldn't have much to worry about b/c I've heard a lot of good things about both.

Well like I wrote above..apparently the story is well done...which is always important in a rpg...and the combat is fun. However those fa

More natural and less "greasy", if that makes sense. But like I said, there are a few scenes circling around in which she doesn't emote very well and comes off like a robot.

  • Thanks for the clarification.

I wonder why Scott Ryder is having less trouble with his animations? and why he looks more like his model than Sara?

    Sara Scott Ryder

It makes me wonder why they didn't just model Sara off her voice actor b/c of how different Sara looks from her face model.

I've been watching a few clips of Andromeda, and I have to agree that the 3D Animators could have stepped up more in terms of facial expressions and character's postures and movements.

Subtle movements from the eyes, cheeks, mouths, eyebrows, and so on, are all essential in making your character more lifelike and likable. So far the characters in Andromeda weird me out due to their vacant stares, stiff or robotic movements, inappropriate facial expressions such as smiling when not staring vacantly, puckering lips, and lack of eye and eyelid movements and coordination when they speak to people.

The aliens ironically seem more human than the humans themselves, because they isn't much to work on in terms of facial expressions compared to the human characters, and yet they seem a little more lifelike in turn.

...Oh, and they really need to check that the weapons aren't being held the wrong way around either. The idea of PeeBee shooting herself in the face by accident makes me laugh.

  • The difference is that what you've posted are unintentional glitches but the animations in Andromeda are fucking intentional. Horrid animations at that.

    soysauce posted: »

OK, whoever animated this simply did not give even a single fuck.

  • Having played the trial, I am excited, sure the game has problems, but its hecka fun, and I enjoyed the story and characters so far

  • The gun facing backwards is intentional? Oh that makes sense. Thank you for your insightful clarification.

  • As much fun as it is to pull the console gang's tales...lets look at it like this. EA has spent many millions on the franchise...I think they might in fact redo the character models because no one likes having their AAA game being a laughing stock just because some of the team forgot how humans actually look.

I hope they do fix up the character models. At this point I wouldn't mind a delay for another month or two if it meant they could fix up the models. I just want the game to be out already so I can create an informed opinion.

  • Well they won't delay launch...because other than goofy facial animations and backwards weapons...they actual game is pretty friggen sweet from the streams.

  • LoL...to be fair Ciri does not do that any more...though Roach is still a crazy damn fool horse.

  • Roach may be a crazy damn fool horse but he's Geralt's crazy damn fool horse.

  • For the first time one of the Gifs that mock Andromeda actually got a laugh out of me. I like the Donkey Kong one.

  • How about the horrible facial animations then?

  • I don't know what's more surprising...the fact that people expected a Bioware game with good facial animations, or that after being in the spotlight for so long, Bioware still hasn't figured out how to make good facial animations.

Its something that I've come to expect from their games, so it doesnt bother me as much as it does for other people. The dialogue, though? Cringe.

  • I'm seeing a lot of news articles and videos being very critical of the game, Pewdiepies video has gained views faster than the trailers did.

I'm not sure how the game is going to turn out sales wise, I'm going to be super depressed if lots of people preordered it... like... I can't wrap my head around why you would preorder it when you get game the exact same game later on, with no negative affect, and being able to avoid it if it's a poor product...

    Omg. Lmao

  • I pre-ordered. I have two good reasons for doing so.

1: So I can pre-load it and then just play it when it's unlocked.

2: I'm going to buy it anyway. No matter what anyone says. I've enjoyed every Bioware major release since Baldur's Gate.

Could it be crap at launch? Maybe. Probably not though. Are facial animations terrible? No, not really. Are they on par with the current generation of games? No. Should people accept that? No. Hold them to a higher standard. If that is ruining the game for you, then those are the people I feel sorry for though. It should be pointed out. It should be made clear that Bioware has to get better, but the people going on and on and on about it are pretty sad. I couldn't even imagine animations completely killing a game for me. That's depressing.

  • I havent preordered the game, I dont preorder, simply because there is no reason to, but having played the trial, I can safely say I am gonna buy the game, I found the game to be super enjoyable, sure it has some issues, but it just felt so Mass Effect, and the characters and story was interesting

  • I can honestly live with the facial animations, its not like its every character, its mostly just the humans that look bad, besides, I played the trial, and had a fucking blast, this game is so Mass Effect, the characters are interesting, the story is interesting (no "saving the galaxy", but I kinda like that)

  • I don't think Bioware intentionally made them horrible. Like the glitches and bad animations I posted.

I just thought it was ridiculous to say that no one at Bioware gave a single fuck b/c some animations were glitching.

Well aparently EA got rid of really talented people and replaced them with tumblr drones. When I see someone like her on the writing/story department I start to see why the game is like it is now. You know "My face is too tired" for example. Or the tumblr hairstlyes for women. No real character customisation as you can only have some really ugly presets. This is not Mass Effect anymore.

Im Thinking maybe they left on the time period where Krogan had a mutation and Mordin designed a stronger Version of the Genophage which is why this one s immune. ((Actually i have no idea when the Andromeda initiative left Some ppl said it was a little bit after ME1 Some say it was a couple of Months before ME3.

Apparently the lead facial animator is a cosplayer who has had no previous experience in video games. Yikes, that certainly explains some things.
