Season 2 of Tokyo Ghoul strayed too far from the manga. Which is my favourite manga series, followed by Fairy Tail and SNK.
Which I didnt like as much, it ruined any chance of a 3rd season. Which would follow the :re series

But season 1 is very accurate and remains one of my favourite series

I personally recommend Attack on Titan, Cowboy Bebop, Inuyasha, Fruits Basket, Toradora, Ouran High School Host Club, Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo

  • For thrills and well as a near perfect animation style. In depth story. This is a prequel to Fate/Stay Night and the alternate story of Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works or better know as Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Budget.

    Fate/Zero

25 episode series. First episode is 50 mins long. Just talking and explaining plot. Sets the series up perfectly and slowly brings you into the brilliant story telling that it has to offer. As well as one of my favourite openings. If youre someone that can sit through talking and not one of those "I need action 24/7 or its boring".

It follows the 4th Holy Grail War, Set in the current time period. In which masters are chosen to participate, and choose a relic which summons a servant to fight for them. Upon winning the grail they can have their wish granted... Theses servant are historical of mythological people. That come under the titles Saber, Rider, Archer, Berserker, Assassin, Caster and Lancer each come with their own power. With the titles of them you can guess what they do.

The servants are people such as Alexander the Great as Rider, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne as Lancer and the King of Knights.... Arthur Pendragon as Saber.

Saber's whos true name is Artoria Pendragon, better known as Arthur Pendragon and King Arthur, who is regarded as a male in history. She is the "Once and Future King" and a legendary hero of Britain known as the King of Knights. She wielded the sword from the stone, Caliburn, but it was eventually destroyed. She later obtained Excalibur and Avalon from the Lady of the Lake.

This being said I cant recommend it enough. Obviously it's your choice but I recommend sub, not dub. As I recommend for nearly everything. My few acceptions being Cowboy Bebop and FMA: Brotherhood.

  • Nice explanation. :)

Oh, I meant that I make myself believe that the spoilers I have seen are a lie, a joke in this case, so I can still be a bit surprised.

The lack of staff is a trend pointed out by Thomas Romain. As a result of online streaming, studios earn less money. Less money means a lowe

Thanks. There is more to his argument than what I have mentioned, though. A quick Google search should suffice if you wish to know more.

Also, I think that pretending that those spoilers are fake should not be necessary. That arc has a bit of plot-juice to squeeze, so being surprised at what happens shouldn't be a problem depending on how deeply you have delved into spoiler territory.

  • I see.

Well, I cannot help you there.

  • So I'm kinda reviving this thread, but I recently finished watching 91 Days and Oh My God the ending fucked me up? Like, the anime was really good and the characters were great (the main character was especially good.), but the ending tho.

    I also watched Mononoke:

    And Kuroko no Basket:

  • Your lie in April was pretty good

  • Out of the series I've watched? I'd totally recommend Owari no Seraph/Seraph of the End, Your Lie in April, Another and Hunter x Hunter, as in my opinion, they're worth to watch.

  • Maybe it was already mentioned but you should check out my hero academia it is funny has good action and drama.

  • One of the best shounens of late.

    • All Ghibli-movies obviously
    • The Last Airbender / Legend of Korra (not "anime", but the same style)

Shinsekai Yori ("From the New World")

Seirei no Moribito ("Guardian of the Sacred Spirit")

  • Somebody already suggested Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Kai [which is an updated version of Z with better dubbing/uncut dialogue] but there are also the Dragon Ball movies and the original Dragon Ball show itself which focused on Goku as a boy and was more fantasy than sci-fi which Z adopted.

Also Dragon Ball Super isn't too bad, even though it's not as violent I have enjoyed that one quite a lot, particular after they finish recapping the movies Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. But there's always the Abridged ser....seri...ah...aaaah, AH-CHOO!

Moving on there's Serial Experiments Lain which is very trippy, but I found it really good. This anime came out in 1998 and basically predicted what the internet would become: this tool used to communicate with people all over the world. Hence the whole thing about 'everyone is connected'.

There's one I remembered recently called Escaflowne. I watched this as a child, and really enjoyed it. It sort of has Final Fantasy elements and is one of the few 'giant robot anime' I was ever interested me since it wasn't the whole element of it. Hasn't aged too bad.

Lastly I can recommend Video Girl AI. Made in 1992 it has some silly crude humor, but a meaningful love story behind it. The stairway scene is probably one of the best scenes I've seen in an anime. The finale episode 6 is the best when it steps into the video world and the tests involved.

(hooray I found a relevant thread!) Haven't watched it, but I'd really like to sometime soon: Nichijou
Recently discovered it and quite a few clips of it on YouTube. Seems like a great comedy slice-of-life, unlike anything I've seen. Ordinary lives of a few people from a certain school, but everything is turned up to 11. Extremely exaggerated slapstick comedy, life problems, emotional reactions, etc. I think it's more random scenes than story! The animation budget seems to be through the roof, too. Simple design, but extremely insane stylised "drama shots".
But.. haven't seen it in full to give actual thoughts.

    highlights I've seen:
