True, I wouldn't be surprised at this point.

And if David does see Javier's 'relationship' with Kate as this act of betrayal he's talking about, I'd seriously want an option to punch him back. I'm not going to take a punch from someone who accuses me of being a relationship with his girlfriend/wife that I never wanted any part of to begin with.

I'd be angry at Kate for instigating all of this if she is serious about wanting to have Javier as her new partner, but I'm more annoyed at the writers for forcing Javier to play along and not give players the option to just say "I don't a relationship with you, Kate. I just want to be friends". But regardless of what the player does, basically everyone assumes that there's 'something going on between Javier and Kate'.

Well remember, this is Telltale we're talking about. I wouldn't put it above them to force the romance of your brother's wife.

  • I sure hope so. I spent the past few episodes trying to stay on his good side, and it'd be a shame to let one little thing ruin all of that.

I think that line would occur if Javier decides to leave Richmond with Kate. Doesn't really make much sense for David to be angry at Javier over Kate if the player goes out of his way to not flirt with her.

  • If David does call it quits with Javier over a love triangle with Kate that the player has no interest in, then I would probably consider David to be the worst character of A New Frontier.

It's reminding me too much of Dead Space 3 with the character Norton.

  • I actually feel for David. Despite his faults, he's still someone who let his brother live with him despite the resentment he felt, had his wife going behind his back trying to run away with said brother while he was giving him a place to live, then stood by his fathers deathbed as they waited for someone who never showed. He rushed his dying mother to the hospital while entrusting his brother with his children, and that was the last he saw of them for 4 years, only to learn that his youngest daughter had been killed by members of his own group barely a day before, and his oldest daughter was still disappointing. I will sacrifice every Garcia I have to/am allowed to in order to keep David alive. Including Kate, twice.

  • I never played the Dead Space games, but is there a love triangle in there too?

That's right, and it's likely one of the reasons why the third game is not very well received by fans.

It doesn't help that fans of a certain character from Dead Space 2 were disappointed to see how their role was portrayed in Dead Space 3.

I never played the Dead Space games, but is there a love triangle in there too?

  • We are definitely a forum divided this Season on a lot of issues, which can lead to some fun discussions as well as some void of civilized behavior much like the walking dead lol. I can't speak for everyone regarding their disdain for Gabe, but for me I guess the best way to describe it is that he takes me out of the established universe. The writers created him too average for our standards that we live in rather than what four years trapped in a van on survival mode would alter a person to become. This isn't to say there's only one way to depict that - there are several. You're definitely not alone though in being excited to see some change from Gabe, and hoping that this episode can put him in the limelight.

I'd like to see that too. I wasn't trying to come across as labelling, its just there's some people on this forum who don't like Gabe, and h

  • Yeah and remember how emotional and tear jerking was Season 2's Episode 4? Yeah, me neither.

Remember the emotional, tear jerking Season 2 Episode 4 Trailer? Yeah? Now compare it to this trailer...:( I really miss the old days

  • Hey, that was pretty good.

  • I haven't watched the trailer but I want to so badly... how spoilerific is It?

  • The worst character in the New Frontier? I don't know... I think you're underestimating just how bad and poorly written these characters are...including the main character.

  • It isn't spoilerish at all. It's mostly action scenes and Clementine sprinkled in.

  • Well, we'd need to play the episode to judge how much of it has been revealed. Otherwise, in my solemn opinion the trailer isn't spoilerific at all.

Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty indifferent towards every new character so far.

David, however, just plain annoys the hell out of me.

    • His short temper and penchant for needless violence towards Javier. I'm not a fan of these kind of characters, and David was already introduced by punching Javier to the ground for not showing up in time for his family despite his efforts.
    • How he didn't seem to have made much effort to reunite with his family when the apocalypse struck, and this is after calling Javier out for not showing up in time for their father's passing. His family was waiting for three months in their house, and yet David never thought to go back and see if they were still there waiting for them after trying to get to the hospital for his mother and uncle?
    • Snatches a baby from Clementine after kicking her out, shortly after shouting to her that he would have just left AJ in the middle of the woods due to being perceived as a drain on resources. This just seems spiteful and unnecessary, especially since the only crime we see Clementine commit in Richmond was to steal medicine to help treat AJ when nothing was being done for him at the time.
    • Tries to take his family back from Javier's hands without any consideration of his own brother's feelings in the matter, let alone how Javier had helped protect his family on his own for four years while David was in Richmond forming A New Frontier and indirectly contributing to several communities being destroyed and robbed for goodness knows how long.

Yeah. Not a fan of David.

  • I've really grown to hate all the "We've gotta get you outta here!", "We should have left.", "I did it to help my people!!" bs.

It's just the new characters, always running, walker always flooding the place, dang, it's been what, 4-5 years in the apocalypse and they always act the same lmao idk.

  • Not much tbh.

  • Yay, that's totally going to change anything. Maybe telltale should have had that idea before they omid'd them.

Also Clementine is seen with her season 2 Jacket on which only appeared in flashbacks prior to episode 2 or in the Alone ending meaning we might get a flashback from the time period before this season and have another scene with Kenny and Jane.

Hope I don't offend anyone by hating but a while back someone on here described season 3 as "tacky". And the more I see of it the more right he becomes. The entire storyline just seems tacky as fuck. From the evil leader brother, the corny love triangle, the whole Clementine and AJ thing, Gabe's sorry ass, the big bad evil community. Such a huge step down from season 1 and 2.

  • Okay Lingard.... you're going to get the fuck tortured out of you if you hold out on info about AJ.

  • Lingard has zero fucks and absolute chill in the trailer.

  • Working people have even less free time during the week.

To be fair that shouldnt even be a consideration on their part since its rated M/ Rated 17+

  • TNF seems to be playing a game with Clem and withholding info about AJ, where he is/whether he is alive... I have no patience.

  • But why? David gave the information he knew and Lingard doesn't seem to be pulling clementines leg. I just think the whole AJ thing has drawn out far too long with no reason other than to tie in clementine.

  • At this point im starting To Think Kate s Lori from the show all over again making two men who once were friends ((Althought they re brothers this time.)) Fight and one of them ends up dead .

What a fucking lackluster generic trailer. It's just like any other trailer: action-packed with "emotional, tear-jerking" Clementine scenes

Oh absolutely, I can't even refute most of your points. David is short-tempered, impulsive, can be headstrong about his family, and is a straight up asshole sometimes, but at the end of the day, he still does try to do the right thing. He's extremely flawed without a doubt, but he isn't a cliched, one dimensional, dickish older brother. He does care for Javi to the point where he'd stick his neck out for him by leaving Richmond and getting him setup with a vehicle and supplies. He wanted Javi to stay in Richmond, but he was outvoted so he did the best he could to help out his brother without breaking the rules, but even then you can see that he showed his brother special treatment that he wouldn't have showed for anyone else. He cares for his family, but he's also grown to care for his people in Richmond since he has a leadership role there.

He also has a tendency to say shit he doesn't mean when he's pissed off, however do you really believe that David would just leave a baby out in the woods to die? Especially considering they could've did that when they took the baby from Clem, but instead they tried to keep him as comfortable as they could before they thought he was going to die. Even when Clem asked if he suffered, David responds with, "I wouldn't have let him" which shows that despite his imperfections, he wouldn't just leave that baby to die. You can even see David feeling shitty about the situation if you say goodbye to AJ. However, David comes from a military background in which if you break the rules then you're out. No exceptions.

David may be an asshole, but his heart is in the right place. He'd rather die than survive off the blood of other settlements and even gets angry when he thinks about all the other parents who lost their children too during the raids. His character actually has depth compared to the new characters this season. He has clear motives, an interesting part in the story, has realistic flaws, and has good intentions. Everyone thinks he's a monster (his own wife, Clem, etc.), and we get to decide if they're right and leave him or if your brother is worth saving and fighting for. People either love him or hate him. At least he's bringing an emotional response out of players, unlike most of the newer characters this season, including the main character himself. Hell, I believe David would have been a far more interesting main character than Javi.

  • Thoughts on the trailer:

    • "Its sad how we ended up here." You can say that again.
    • David apparently went telepathic on "little brother"
    • Great to see Kate's getting involved after two episodes of being down. What's going on with her eyes, btw?
    • Looks like the teams are gonna be Javier & Gabe, Tripp & Ava, and Kate & Eleanor.
    • Shades-chick is still working for Joan. I hope you choice to side with Kate pays off with her.
    • Gabe is gearin for action again and he means business this time.
    • Oh boy, Dr. Lingard doesn't seem very negotiable at the moment. Guess learning about Joan's backdoor dealings drove him back to his old habits.
    • So Bowser Jr. is the executioner. That's actually pretty awesome.
  • I wouldn't recommend watching it if you really want to go in blind.

I haven't watched the trailer but I want to so badly... how spoilerific is It?

  • At least in Kate's case we're given some indication that David has a bad temper and he was an ass to her at times and she wasn't happy with him. Unlike Lori who wanted Rick to lose his temper with her and gossiped with her gal pals about how he never yells at her. God, I'm getting angry just remembering Lori, lol.

Kate's also not prompting Javi to go kill David, but for them to just leave. If anything, Clementine is serving the role of spreading distrust, and she actually has good reason for it given the shitty (and totally nonsensical) thing he did to her.

It'll be really cheesy if they keep him alive throughout episode 4 or give him some sort of triple determinant status.
