Unpopular gameplay formula

Yes, there are a lot of games with gameplay formula that just don't happen in other games anymore. For me, most of the future games should have similar gameplay as:

  • Alien Isolation.
  • Star Wars The Force Unleashed.
  • Bully.

How about you?

I'd ask how is The Force Unleashed unique? It's probably the most standard, take no risks character action game out there. Bully at least has a high school setting which you don't see in many non-Japanese games

    How is bully unique?

  • Why Alien: Isolation?
It was a "walking-simulator" like so many other games. Resident Evil 7 and Outlast, to name some latest examples.

  • But still, The Warriors, and another open world game set in Hong Kong is immensly similar to Bully.

Persinally it felt like just another R* game.

I wouldn't say so, Warriors is a beat em up with a much different and more in depth combat system not sure what Hong Kong game you mean (Sleeping Dogs?). I don't think Bully is amazing probably one of R* weakest but at least to me, they tried something different with it. though it does still follow the mission structure of other R* games that's just their style every studio has some sort of mechanic or design choice in all their games.

  • Resident Evil 7

Might be similar but that game wasn't about stealth.

    Outlast

You can't defend yourself in that game.

  • Depending on your playstyle and considering the flamethrower.. Alien: Isolation can be played non-stealth as well.
In terms of Outlast.. yes true. But that isn't much of a difference honestly. My point was that I don't see the "unpopular" gameplay formula you mentioned.

  • I just want a game that has the nemesis system from Shadow of Mordor.

  • Then I think I should ask a mod to close this cause it makes me feel awkward.

  • I mostly dont care about gameplay, as there is rarely any meaningful changes in gameplay, since most formulas have been tested, and I mostly play games for the story anyways, since stories can be crazy and innovative
