Seriously WTF is Telltale Doing?

I usually check https://twitter.com/jobjstauffer?lang=en twitter page a lot for information on new episode releases and upcoming games ect, and he has now confirmed on his page that TFTB S2 and TWAU S2 will not be the "surprise" announcement this week at SDCC. He says "Your voices & your passion will never go unheard here at TTG." Yet the only titles we have voiced our opinions for are these two games.

This now pretty much confirms to me that the next game is GoT S2. Don't get me wrong I love both tv show and the game, but seriously? GoT S1 finished under 2 years ago.

So telltale if our "voices never go unheard" then do something about it.

  • Real? Game of thrones finished that long ago? The graphics are kinda shit imo, it has to be longer...

  • The final episode came out 17th November 2015

  • Telltale doesn't own either franchise, so I wouldn't jump to conclusions that they don't want to do them.

  • Holy crap the walking dead season 1 had better graphics and that finished in 2012. What happened? >_<

  • It's not a bad gig. You still listen to the announcements with a glimmer of hope and then wait for the next one to come along. It's less stressful because you don't expect to be interested.

  • Fuck telltale. they KNOW what we want so they tease us with it and hint at it for as long as they can to keep us chasing their tails. I remember when they teased us with TWD season 3 but gave us MC storymode instead. it's a shitty and annoying marketing technique that they need to stop.

  • Yeah Im really hoping for TFTBL season 2 but they cant even make it before BL 3

  • Totally agree

Yeah but they actually confirmed a second season 3 days after the first ended, then said fuck all about it for those 2 years.

  • Hey, no need to call him that. We all know Telltale is fucked up. Rushing Season 3 of The Walking Dead and making Minecraft Season 2 already.

    Crybaby.

  • To Be Honest i don't want a TWAU 2 reason is it will be SHIT. Just look at ANF complete and utter DogShit. If they did make a TWAU 2 everyone would Complain about CHOICES not mattering

  • I would like to say that, ideally, he's trying to maintain some secrecy for what they are going to announce. Specifically shooting down the very games that describe "some of the stuff we've been asking for, for a very long time" and "core telltale fans" seems odd and then downplaying what everyone hopes for...

I'm not going to be surprised if we get GOT: S2, but I'll be annoyed at the fact that they gave us false hope for something else. That just isn't right. SDCC presents a good chance to bring fans back, or me at least since I don't care for GOTG or Minecraft. Telltale really don't make it easy.

  • Because they had no Fucking Idea on what to do with the Story, The Game had so many Determinet things at the end so it took them more time to Develop. I'd say EP1 will be out in November time

  • If only they listin too our voices of what we want, Than I'll be pleased.

  • Game of Thrones finished at the same time as Tales from the Borderlands, so if one is deserving the other should be too.

  • To be fair Gearbox is responsible for borderlands and they are working on the upcoming borderlands installment. I would love to know what the reason is for not having a S2 of wolf among us. They seem quite eager and open to making it yet very vague on why they haven't. If it's because of partnership I don't see why they wouldn't just say it granted I'm sure they could come to a deal if they wanted to. I'm guessing Game of thrones will be announced considering how they've been heavily promoting it and game of thrones is quite popular at the moment which they would love to capitalize on.

  • I think telltale made too many impactful changes to the borderlands universe if gearbox gave them another go they will probably kill moxi or some other crazy shit. I dont think the things that happened in tftb would have happened that way if it was written by gearbox and as a borderlands fan I dont want telltale meddling anymore

    I totally agree.
Telltale needed to flat out say whether or not we can expect to see those popular franchises' return. Luckily they did this time.

People have been expecting time and time again TFTB 2 or TWAU 2 but have not received them. That's simply because their fate has been left up in the air for so long.

Tbh, people getting annoyed and disappointed has annoyed me. I'm glad this is settled, so now we can get this disappointment out of the way. I don't expect TWAU to continue, as I felt it ended on a pretty good note. Some may argue that (Follow Her) was a cliffhanger, and I'd agree, but I also think it can be a good ambiguous ending, with a hint to what could happen next. Plus, the ending was multiple-choice, something (I assume) people tend to forget one ended on a soft note, ending the mystery early, and the other ended on a hard note, opening up a possibility for more. And I want it to stay as a single, ambiguous season, given Telltale's history on following up to those things. Since TFTB ended the same way for everyone, I expect some sort of sequel (as it does provide an easy spot to get everyone started from) but If we don't, I don't mind.

Some outright beg for a sequel, given their obvious cliffhanger ending [see: Got and Batman] and sometimes confirmation of one [see: Got]. So I'm okay if we get a sequel to those but not to the ones we really want. We know the creator of Fables didn't want to license it out again and make a sequel, and that Gearbox is currently working on BL3 so making an inter-quel wouldn't be the best option now.

  • Yeah, that could explain it. Episode 6 had huge differences in the majority of the episode based on the Asher/Rodrik choice, so it would make sense for it to take long for a season 2. But 2 years? Nah.

I'm betting their team just got split up and took a break from it to make other games. And they say they have enough to make 4 games at a time, but I don't approve. They should just have enough to make 3 games, or even 2 really good ones at a time. I don't know how they handle their manpower, but they shouldn't spread themselves too thin like that. At least in my opinion.

  • Not really. They're saying one thing, but making it vague enough so that it applies to every possibility, thereby making fans flock towards the most wanted option.

  • Well honestly, Telltale's core is Sam and Max. It's why they were created in the first place.

Not just that. It had terrible writing, terrible character development, choices from the previous seasons don't mean jack shit, short episodes and more cutscenes than gameplay.

Yeah how dare they make a sequel to a game i'm not into but other people are.

It's not that. It's just that they already release Season 2 for Minecraft Story Mode when not one year ago, the final episode of the first season was just released.
